Spotted the new budget Model Y in Romania

eSabit | 2025-12-22 18:31 | 454 views

Hello, not sure if this has been posted already, I’ve spotted a different Model Y in Romania last night. It seems to be the budget Model Y version I’ve been seeing news about.

this is dogshit

bacon_boat 2025-12-22 19:38

I'm surprised how that slight change makes the front look 💩

RandoRenegade 2025-12-22 19:42

Cybris94 2025-12-22 19:48

Disagree but im personally just not a fan of light bars on cars in general. I still think its a terrible value for what you lose tho. Steelies on a $40k+ car is insane 💀

brsmr123 2025-12-22 19:52

It looks like it is an early prototype car. So bad.

10Bens 2025-12-22 19:53

Kinda just looks fine imo.

PhortePlotwisT 2025-12-22 19:54

Ive seen prettier 40 years old Dacias

domoarigatomrelgato 2025-12-22 19:54

Lmao, light bar doesn’t make a car look great. This looks MILES better than the cybertruck-esque string cheese of lights you get.

johnnyXcrane 2025-12-22 20:17

imo pretty much all entry models from Tesla a pretty bad value compared to the mid configurations

Ravenous-Hydrant 2025-12-22 20:20

Europoor 🥴

bacon_boat 2025-12-22 20:20

The front of the new model 3 is so good in comparison

Crossgolf 2025-12-22 20:29

Value for money is not super. But the looks are okay to me. I like the cloth seats too compared to my legacy model.

Sneakatone2 2025-12-22 20:37

Quite the frunk

iloose2 2025-12-22 20:42

It looks sad

[deleted] 2025-12-22 20:51

Why compromise with Fine. This is not 1920.

thunderslugging 2025-12-22 20:59

Not a fan.

Server_Reset 2025-12-22 21:01

Didn't like new model y, thought the light bar looked bad, somehow this looks worse, impressive! Good find tho.

10Bens 2025-12-22 21:01

Am I missing something about the 1920s where everyone wanted fine...? I just think it looks fine. So long as it doesn't look *awful* a vehicle can still be a purchase candidate for me. And if the price is right, people will be attracted to it.

Gear21 2025-12-22 21:13

New design is fugly

Kool61577 2025-12-22 21:17

I saw one the other day tried to build it on the site and couldn’t figure out the config.

Kool61577 2025-12-22 21:18

I am from the 20’s what’s wrong with fine?

Elf_Paladin 2025-12-22 21:19

I think it looked quite alright in real life. Saw one yesterday.

FuzzyFr0g 2025-12-22 21:20

This thing has more features than a base BMW i4. Its 3000 euro’s cheaper than a Skoda Elroq with the bigger battery (which puts them on the same range) but has more space and features. The value for money on this is pretty damn good.

DaiFunka8 2025-12-22 21:31

Beautiful, sleek

AgainstGreaterOdds 2025-12-22 21:45

It looks ugly compared with previous model and it embodies Elon’s transition to evil by looking like a stormtrooper helmet. I was considering one a few years before the facelift, now there’s not technological advantage that saves it.

No-Bicycle-7660 2025-12-22 22:02

spotted the tesla shareholder. there's no instrument cluster or heads up display. to see ANYTHING, you have to take your eyes completely off the road to look at the central screen. also you get no functional indicator or light stalks. it's the barest shell of a car. and that goes for the more expensive Y (and 3) models too, not just this POS. you need to spend thousands on third party add-ons from AliExpress to make it useable. you also have the luxury of being trapped inside the car if power fails.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 22:05

What are you talking about? You move your eyes the same distance to see the speed in a Tesla as you do in any other car. The only difference is that instead of straight down it's down/right. But it's not any further from the road. And there are indicator stalks.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 22:06

No technological advantage? FSD alone is far ahead of anything else you can get in literally any other car.

No-Bicycle-7660 2025-12-22 22:08

i assume you think all potential tesla customers have never driven a car before or have no brain?

3L54 2025-12-22 22:13

More does not equal better. You also have to remember you are comparing a cheapo to a premium. Quite a big difference in feel and things you can actually touch and interact with between BMW and Tesla. The i-BMWs also tend to hold their value really well in comparison.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 22:38

It took me maybe a couple days to fully get used to. It's not hard at all.

sukaface 2025-12-22 22:38

All I see is “ -__- “

FuzzyFr0g 2025-12-22 22:58

As does Mini and Volvo, and no one complains there. The Model 3 and Y both have indicator stalks, and many cars don’t have light stalks. And it has a mechanical door handle. WTF are you talking about?

FuzzyFr0g 2025-12-22 23:01

You mean those hard plastics on everything below the waist on BMW? You mean the single glazing on the BMW? The manual seats? There really is not a big difference in feel and build quality between a BMW and Tesla nowadays. At least not here in europe where we have the Chinese and German Tesla’s

3L54 2025-12-22 23:06

Like physical gear lever and regen lever. Actual functioning door handles. HUD and screen behind the wheel. You know thise everyday things that should be there by default. I do give you that BMW has gone backwards with premium feel with the big screen stuff but still miles ahead of Tesla.

biffa773 2025-12-22 23:08

Excepting you cannot get FSD in the EU. So it is by your definition no better than any other car in the EU. Source my Model S has FSD purchased and active and I am in the EU.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 23:11

That wasn't my definition, but yes, it's a shame that your regulators are so slow and backward. I really hope you get access to it soon, because it's incredible.

AgainstGreaterOdds 2025-12-22 23:15

You didn’t understand. I said that no matter what advantage they bring, it won’t change my mind. Is an ugly car in design and soul.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 23:17

Ah, I guess I did misunderstand. I disagree though. I think it looks nice too.

biffa773 2025-12-22 23:17

I don't need it when i do long journeys Autopilot does pretty much what I need and does it quite well. However the car pictured is in the EU, registered in Romania to be precise, so my point stands FSD is not a reason for purchasing that Tesla over literally any other manufacturer.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 23:17

You have absolutely no idea what you're missing.

biffa773 2025-12-22 23:20

I do.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-22 23:22

No, you don't. Autosteer isn't even remotely close to FSD.

Arcamone 2025-12-22 23:53

I actually think the front is nicer than the uni brow.

TheHeavenlySun 2025-12-22 23:59

Kinda slightly looking like ioniq now.

ofnabzhsuwna 2025-12-23 00:11

I don’t hate it.

[deleted] 2025-12-23 00:17

It looks better

Zestyclose-Let7929 2025-12-23 01:10

marshmellow with “- -“ ———

InertiaCreeping 2025-12-23 02:34

FWIW Not once in the last seven years, have I missed a screen behind the steering wheel, or lack of hud.

Slum-Bum 2025-12-23 02:38

Money?

drgmaster909 2025-12-23 03:16

Ah yes the Model Why

3L54 2025-12-23 04:50

It is quite nice having speed, media info and navigation all in the HUD to take a glance at without taking eyes off the road.

Angel-hardt 2025-12-23 05:01

🤮

InertiaCreeping 2025-12-23 05:22

I understand that's your opinion, but I don't need or want clutter distracting me when I'm driving - for me (and I assume others) it's nice being able to **focus on the road.** I strongly disagree that you need "these everyday things by default".

3L54 2025-12-23 05:28

The thing is to avoid distraction when not having to look away from the road. Id argue that knowing the speed is fairly critical… You dont think Model Y center screen is cluttered?

InertiaCreeping 2025-12-23 05:46

No, I don’t find the screen cluttered. Speed is always in that corne if I need it. However I use cruise control 99% of the time, as it’s safer than “manually” driving. The car has better response times than I do if a child runs into the road. No offence meant to you, but a driver who can’t **feel** that they are speeding isn’t a very good driver, heh. Have you daily driven a Y or 3?

turtlemeds 2025-12-23 05:59

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in the wild.

Logitech4873 2025-12-23 06:50

> there's no instrument cluster or heads up display. to see ANYTHING, you have to take your eyes completely off the road to look at the central screen Huh? The speedometer is just as close as with any other car without a HUD. > also you get no functional indicator or light stalks. It does have an indicator stalk, and it sure works.  > you also have the luxury of being trapped inside the car if power fails. No? There's mechanical releases on all doors.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-12-23 08:55

It’s the “Standard” Model Y

DontBuyBitcoin 2025-12-23 09:38

That face look bad honestly. Not attractive at all imo

Kool61577 2025-12-23 10:11

Money is fine.

Kool61577 2025-12-23 10:12

Saw they were also building a police model off of this.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-12-23 10:37

Nice, I’ve seen a few dual motors fitted as police cars, can’t remember where but it was here in the USA

biffa773 2025-12-23 10:45

I like how you assume I have never been to the USA or driven an FSD car there. You do you.

Little0311 2025-12-23 12:28

I actually see that (in)famous Austrian Painter 😅

Little0311 2025-12-23 12:29

I think that removing the lightbar makes the Y much closer to the 3 in aesthetics. Still i like more the new version

42nu 2025-12-23 14:52

If you have HW3 you're not really missing anything these days. FSD has regressed substantially since they have continuously been "updating" FSD meant for HW4 cars into HW3 cars. FSD was significantly better last Spring and Summer and is now so frustrating that I swear Elon is trying to make it bad so that you purchase a new vehicle instead of having to eventually do a very expensive hardware update retrofit.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-23 14:59

You certainly haven't used FSD v13 or v14 if you're saying this.

sprashoo 2025-12-23 15:35

Yeah, i honestly like this a lot better than the standard one.

shancius1 2025-12-23 19:16

Calling BMW a premium brand while calling tesla a cheapo brand is interesting. Having tried both and compare the two with similar priced vehicle, i must say that BWM feels like a toycar full with plastic parts, while tesla atleast did some effort covering most plastic parts. And that's without talking about all the features a standard m3 or mY gets which even the premium BMW's don't have. But yeah, the more expensive BMW's are definitely more premium then a tesla m3 or mY. But it's kinda like comparing apples with televisions.

PowerfulMilk2794 2025-12-23 21:24

What are steelies?

Eye-Fast 2025-12-24 00:15

Yep, people should try it out. Its like comparing blackberry to iPhone

ChunkyThePotato 2025-12-24 00:16

Exactly.

Cheeko914 2025-12-24 01:56

The value is great in these. You aren’t taking into account how much development and money went into the software that controls the FSD and CAN system. It’s more than just physical features.

Cybris94 2025-12-24 02:01

Generic steel wheels that are covered by a hubcap because they are so ugly. Used to be common but you rarely see them on even budget cars these days. https://preview.redd.it/cduas02f729g1.png?width=380&format=png&auto=webp&s=3bf693d4b8f1ec4c0e8fc2629942a6a5d1d23cfc

PhilosophyCorrect279 2025-12-24 04:58

Eh, if you drive enough you value the saving from smaller wheels, and more importantly that hitting a pothole won't snap the wheel and pop the tire. Guess how I know........ But yeah if it was just a bit cheaper it would be better.

Zina_1of 2025-12-24 08:38

Value and Tesla slap in this face with this model is outragous... Stripped down piece of junk!

Crossgolf 2025-12-24 08:54

But as I understand the new cheap models don't support fsd

Nefro8 2025-12-24 13:03

It's kinda sad that Tesla as of today has nothing else to propose than stripping down features on one of their old cars to try to compensate for their falling down sales. Meanwhile Chinese brands are launching tens and tens of new EVs every year, for all needs, I still don't understand why Tesla didn't even try to make a small/medium car for Europe, makes no sense.

PM_ME_ADVICE_OR_NOT 2025-12-24 17:05

They do, no free autopilot though

mittypyon 2025-12-24 18:09

Lol no.

Arcamone 2025-12-24 18:44

It looks like every generic, Asian designed, EV. The new M3 is the nicest.

habachilles 2025-12-24 19:38

Damn. I like it without the light bar ngl.

Spruchy 2025-12-25 00:45

Beautiful

HotStrain2407 2025-12-25 02:02

FSD is not used in EU anyway.

Cheeko914 2025-12-25 02:39

There’s still all the other advancements in technology in these cars that you won’t get from other cars

swoopwalker 2025-12-25 08:13

No autopilot is the value killer for me.

Bibazavrr 2025-12-26 01:49

Whats the point of calling it a budget trim if model y is a budget model in an of itself?

Lonepartee 2025-12-26 08:57

Looks good to me

borgqueenx 2025-12-26 20:06

Do people really like it compared to the pre-facelift?

George93343 2025-12-27 14:49

Looks like Bedford Falls

Feisty_Crab7052 2025-12-29 15:29

I’ve never been a fan of the word budget and anything tied to it. 😂

Less_Veterinarian_60 2026-01-07 09:57

like Romanian low budget fine

Winter-Crew-2746 2026-01-08 13:21

looks nice

Sufficient_Ad3790 2026-01-09 10:40

I Europe gets autopilot

Klowlord 2026-01-18 03:17

that license plate redaction made the car look like hitler lol
