My local oil change shop won't take Teslas for tires/rotations's anymore because they broke the coolant line on one last year using their lift as normal.
So strange Tesla left this so vulernable.

I bought an extra rim with tire on Facebook marketplace so I can rotate my tires myself.
I don't trust these shops to torque these to proper spec, which is much higher than ICE cars so I just do it myself since I have a fancy torque wrench from other hobbies.

Careful with those coolant hose guards. Lots were shipping with bolts that were too long and were touching the coolant hoses and would eventually wear through the hose.
Cheap temu shit that is made to protect but has zero R&D behind it so causes the problem it’s made to avoid

Lots of cars have lift points just like Teslas. They aren't unique at all.

Yup, noticed that too and decided against using the top screws, which are unnecessary.
The bottom bolts go into the frame, one you reuse from the car and the second is supplied with a washer.
Instead of screws I used rubber foam, but you don't even need that.

You get one bolt that needed to be longer, so you'll have one OEM one that's too short you'll put away (it's the one that you use on the rocker cover assembly)...the second one you use is already on the car and is on the OEM coolant/wheel well guard plastic cover. The screws you don't use, they have sharp tips.

I did something like this. Huge gain in peace of mind wise. But i’m not sure if Tesla will void anything because of this. Theoretically this is replacing just a cover, a plastic cover which doesn’t act like a watertight seal, so i would assume this would not void any warranty. But Tesla can say whatever they want i guess 🤷🏻♂️.
But there is Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act to cover us.

Should be fine since the coolant guards go over the factory plastic shielding....and if they give me grief over replacing the skid plate then I'll definitely have to sue them.

Oh it does not replace the plastic shield but installed over it? Ground clearance will be reduced then.

You can rotate the tires front to back just by jacking the car high enough for both wheels to leave the ground. Did you get the extra rim to rotate sides?

You need to use Lift Pucks to protect against damaging the battery. Or the lift points which a Tesla tech will do "right at your house". If you go to a 3rd party and they want to jack the car, if they don't know what Lift Pucks are or refuse to use the lift points then leave.

I [follow this guide from Tesla](https://service.tesla.com/docs/ModelY/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-303A98A7-1F94-4CAD-883D-C84CC053289C-online-en-US.png), which has me starting at the rear passenger wheel where I put on my extra rim, then I move that up and eventually I'm back to where I started. Only takes like 30 minutes and I'm comfy in my garage...I don't like jacking more than one wheel up since I'm using a questionable Harbor Freight jack (but funnily enough, a very expensive torque wrench), so this works for me.

Note to all. 22 MYP, My wife nailed a piece of steel on the freeway last year and it the right wheel well and pinched the coolant lines behind it against a pinch weld (where two sections of steel meet and are welded) and caused a leak. That repair consited in removing the entire battery pack and replacing the entire coolant lines from the front all the way to the rear and then reinstalled. This was not covered under warranty and I paid roughly $2800 for the repairs. I purchased the aluminum under guards for the front and rear and the two front sideways plates that cover the hose sections and installed them. (probably won't hit a fly now). I cut 1/3 off of that bolt as it seemd to long and I was worried that it would rub on the coolant lines.

It's crazy that those lines run where they do and are only protected by thickened plastic, especially since there's this wheel that can accelerate projectiles to crazy speeds right in front of it.
I joked with my wife that after spending all this time and money on doing this nothing will happen agian but at least we're protected if it does (or it'll be a nice value add for whoever gets this car when we do decide to sell it one day).

i use that same long bolt and turned it the other way, so the threads face down. used a piece of string to fish it through the hole.

This is what mine looked like after getting stuck in the mud! Dr. Detail dropped the plate for a complete clean. I'm glad the protection was there when I got stuck!

Holy crap, that's naaasty but looks like it's still good! I saw someone just hit a little water and it absolutely destroyed the OEM skid plate...it gets floody out here a lot, usually because the homeless jam up the storm drains.

Yeah I helped a tow guy jack up my MY last week so he could fit dollies under it. He was gonna jack anywhere and I had to make sure he hit the lift points exactly.

lol i got the side shields and uninstalled them right after installing them becuase i noticed they were touching the lines. ive been meaning to get studs or shorter screws but have been putting it off.
