14.1.3 download size

mdbrotha03 | 2025-10-23 23:35 | 268 views

This is for my 2025 model y performance. Tried it out early this morning. FSD works better but it doesn't seem like I can't set a speed anymore just a drive profile. Edit: Image is from my router's mobile app. I can view downloads and bandwidth for each device. Edit: can't

What is this a screenshot of?

ak_NYC 2025-10-24 01:54

The download size. It’s in the title.

mkranthi18 2025-10-24 01:58

I think they are asking about where did they get this screenshot from? Like app or website. I want to know as well.

Relentless180 2025-10-24 02:02

^bingo. Where is this information available

outpoints 2025-10-24 02:07

Looks like they looked at their routers device usage bro lol

[deleted] 2025-10-24 02:17

Ah, thiiiis is why the LTE connection isn't used for updates.

mdbrotha03 2025-10-24 02:20

I use a Firewalla as my router. I can see bandwidth usage and downloads by device.

It would be nice if we could do USB installs

unpluggedcord 2025-10-24 02:59

At least you got it.

Ray2K14 2025-10-24 03:02

I think that would open it up to potential sideload of custom firmware

Dom9360 2025-10-24 03:31

Firewalla 🔥club!

Automatic_Recipe_007 2025-10-24 03:52

Holy hell, these model sizes are getting gargantuan

hmspain 2025-10-24 04:14

I'm very interested in the *park in my driveway* feature. Anyone with V14 try it out?

DevinOlsen 2025-10-24 04:18

Surprised it’s that big.  V14.1 was around 12GB when I downloaded it - I wonder why 14.1.3 is so much larger.

SleepyMeowBark 2025-10-24 04:38

Firewalla's strong together

JustLikeJD 2025-10-24 04:50

Wonder if there’s backend improvements in the download for future versions that they’ve already worked on. Would theoretically put some aspects of the model in place to facilitate the future updates being less demanding? No idea but that’s just my spitball suggestion

Ok_Excitement725 2025-10-24 05:18

Can anyone confirm the status of autosteer in these updates? There was rumor that one of these V14 updates would have autosteer for those who don't use FSD operating from the FSD computer instead of basic autopilot.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:34

BuT i PaY FoR iT

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:34

Gee, wonder why

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:36

THIS! I bothers me so much when a car needs internet for an update and doesn't have an offline option. What if the servers have issues or an update fixes an internet issue. Shouldn't have to be brought to a service center, if there is ever one near you. Not to mention they would charge you for that I'm sure if you're out of warranty.  USB drive just makes sense as a fallback.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:37

Maybe, but unlikely. With all the signing it already does, it would still be hard. Main difference is where it picks the file from, internal storage or external. Still has the same security.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:38

If this is being monitored by a router, then it might have downloaded the update twice due to error etc. All we know is it's no bigger than this, it could be 1/3 of the size for all we know.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:40

Sadly, internet costs have come down that companies don't optimise like that anymore. Remember the ps3 and Xbox 360 era? Internet was limited and expensive to they had to optimise downloads. Gens after that an update will usually be an entirely new copy of the game.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 05:41

Both would be FSD computer before and after, I think what you mean is the model for auto stear would have been updated.  Long over due. Apparently phantom braking is not in FSD cars, so that model, just limited in function is the only true fix. We shouldn't have to buy fsd to fix such a dangerous issue.

New_Junket4211 2025-10-24 05:42

Took me 3 hours to download over 2G on my 2025 model Y. Then another 55 minutes to install. Worth it though.

ptj66 2025-10-24 05:51

These are still small compared to current text and/or image generation AI which can easily surpass 100gb or even 600gb (deep seek r1 fully self hosted). Essentially Tesla could build 10x-20x larger models, they just need the compute inside the car to handle these Models. We will see what HW5 and HW6 will be capable of.

Electrical_Target25 2025-10-24 06:07

Yeah, it’s smooth. Found it better at bumps that were problem in the past and also merging lanes on the freeway

neobow2 2025-10-24 06:22

Has anyone intercepted these? Like gotten the raw files? I want that. I think it would be very cool

Ok_Excitement725 2025-10-24 06:41

Ah yes thats what I mean. I assumed they were different branches of the computers but what you say makes sense. I really hope they have allowed for the "premium" FSD software to run autosteer, its basically dangerous and often unusable in its current form. Have not heard anyone really speak about it since 14 came out so very curious.

JustLikeJD 2025-10-24 07:55

That’s an absolutely not the case, at least not often. I have many 80gb-100gb games on my pc yet so far the patches and updates that get pushed for them range from a few hundred megs to GBs in size. RARELY ever is it the full size of a complete redownload unless fundamental core items of the game or software are being adjusted. That is essentially what’s going on here with FSD. The branches of a version are patches or updates to the main core logic system but not enough to warrant a full system re-do and therefore they’re version numbers. For first download of the new version (e.g when going from V13.2.9 to V14.1.3) you’ll get a large download. Then the follow up version branches will be smaller in size (by comparison) as they build/adjust it/re-write components of it but not the whole thing.

Ferdinand00 2025-10-24 08:23

Will my 2020 M3P get this? Or is this for full self driving which I didn’t buy nor will never be available in the EU?

Relentless180 2025-10-24 09:47

Cheers mate

GrandArchitect 2025-10-24 11:08

That would be completely unnecessary

FTD_Brat 2025-10-24 11:48

I have, I was shocked when it pulled nose first into my driveway. I always back in and assumed v14 would do the same since that is always how it parks itself.

Few-Theory3080 2025-10-24 12:58

Meanwhile us legacy drivers suck with v12 in a 100kb gif file

Dirty_magnum 2025-10-24 14:20

Xi, is that you?

hmspain 2025-10-24 15:49

COOL! Does FSD take it all the way into your driveway and park? Did you mark the final spot somehow? No need for parking lines anymore?

sparkyblaster 2025-10-24 17:17

I still hear of phantom braking on Autopilot only, but almost never FSD.  Tbh, if I had a car 4 years and still phantom break, I'd demand they fix it. If they say buy fsd, I'd sue for fsd as that's the only true fix they offer. Or, they could just update the Autopilot model like they should have at least a year ago.

Dont_Think_So 2025-10-24 18:50

Given that future models are capable of prompting and reasoning, I dont think it's that unreasonable.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-24 18:50

For FSD? Not necessary as I said.

Dont_Think_So 2025-10-24 18:51

For FSD, yes.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-24 19:02

You want to run a local model to do reasoning for your self driving vehicle? I want my self driving vehicle to be doing self driving locally, personally. Maybe if the models become more efficient. But no reason to do this. It gains you nothing.

Dont_Think_So 2025-10-24 19:04

The current fsd models Tesla are working with have reasoning capability.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-24 20:15

It is not running locally.

Dont_Think_So 2025-10-24 20:17

The FSD model that runs locally will be capable of reasoning in a future version. The one that runs today can be text prompted and can discuss its intentions in text form.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-24 22:18

Right. Or it’s other software including the model. The model needs to run on the hardware in the car. It cannot be larger than the memory in the compute as a rule.

Only-Permission-9780 2025-10-24 22:46

Why is this update so bad. Not being able to choose my speed is a huge downgrade. It’s either get a ticket in standard and hurry mode or go slower than the traffic in chill mode.

Shmoe 2025-10-25 13:24

Reminds me of a purported Bill Gates quote. :)

Big--Bazza 2025-10-25 13:40

Tesla don’t give a shit - the LTE subscription stopped covering Data Downloads years ago. Shite company!!

GrandArchitect 2025-10-25 13:45

Take a look at how much 600gb of HBM costs and let me know if it makes sense to put into your car.

Shmoe 2025-10-25 13:46

Dude… I started out with less than a megabyte of ram. You’re embarrassing yourself.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-25 13:46

how long ago was that?

Shmoe 2025-10-25 13:47

30 years. The point is, forward looking statements about technology are inadvisable. Someday, 600GB of ram might be cheap and the norm.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-25 13:50

So you have 600gb of ram now in your pc?

Shmoe 2025-10-25 13:53

No but over 30 years the amount of ram in my computer has increased 10.5 million percent. You sure you wanna make bold statements about the future?

General-Tennis5877 2025-10-25 15:22

That is huge amount of data!

FTD_Brat 2025-10-25 16:26

Correct, the parking lines are no longer required. I was unable to mark the final stopping point but apparently that sort of feature will be added eventually. It will park in your driveway, but you can also select curb parking as well. Tesla has added a FSD specific menu for that option when FSD is engaged.

hmspain 2025-10-25 16:55

My parking lines (Rev 15) never worked no matter the configuration, so I'm looking forward to seeing what V14 can do!

Striderdud 2025-10-25 17:12

Considering the size of most ai models this is kind of incredible

sparkyblaster 2025-10-26 02:55

Or, data, even in a corporate environment, still costs a shit tone and the price you pay doesn't cover it.

atari56 2025-10-26 06:58

Firewalla?

mdbrotha03 2025-10-26 20:15

Yup

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-10-28 10:08

Why do you assume that in order to drive locally the model does not need reason?

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-10-28 10:12

It probably just downloaded 14.1.1 through 14.1.4 and installed them linearly.

[deleted] 2025-10-28 19:11

given how far FSD is from handling edge cases safely, it doesn’t sound unnecessary at all

[deleted] 2025-10-28 19:11

lmao

sparkyblaster 2025-10-29 00:45

Very possibly. A lot of systems involved that might not always like skipping one.

GrandArchitect 2025-10-29 13:28

May never happen tbh

Big--Bazza 2025-10-31 21:50

Yeah, but they way overprice the cars on the basis that you are paying for such features upfront……bunch of wankers.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-31 22:50

What cars have these features cheaper or free?

Big--Bazza 2025-10-31 22:53

Almost all electric cars these days - the ‘lane keeping assist’ on the Kia Ionic 5N is far better than FSD - the driving experience is outstanding compared to my M3P and the build quality and warranty are on another level. I’m waiting on my Ionic 5N arriving and there will not be a tear shed when the M3P moves on.

sparkyblaster 2025-10-31 23:59

Kia is trying to make an autonomous car? CALL THE NEWS!!!!!! Or do you mean better than Autopilot. Which is included with all Tesla's until recently

wwwz 2025-11-01 09:29

I'm sure he doesn't know the difference. Don't waste your keystrokes.

sparkyblaster 2025-11-01 09:53

But we must tell some sketchy news site that has all the om the ground fresh info.

pastanate 2025-11-02 21:32

You cant set a speed limit anymore. Look around, atleast on my pictures all it does is speed speed and speed some more.

Anyone still on 2025.32.8.16?? Feels like I’ve been on this bullshit for years.
