Get those Biden bucks while you can

Logitech4873 2025-09-30 06:13

Not relevant to most of us

AdditionalLead7265 2025-09-30 06:32

Wonder how most owners feel about the poors joining the club Edit: For all the morons who can't read through the lines, I'm not saying Tesla is luxury. Literally half the cars on the roads are Teslas now. I'm saying certain people in these subs feel it's a meant to be a status symbol and "the poors" are only in because they had to rely on tax credits or rebates. Critical thinking.

areHorus 2025-09-30 09:47

Go watch Kung Fu Panda 1, and then it will be relevant.

Ape_Escape_Economy 2025-09-30 10:05

Meanwhile, oil and gas/ coal subsidies are alive and well!

meeyeam 2025-09-30 12:10

Until there's a federal EV annual tax.

Logitech4873 2025-09-30 12:13

In Norway?

EndEmbarrassed9031 2025-09-30 12:26

A fucking shame the credit is going away. Thanks a lot Donald

[deleted] 2025-09-30 12:27

Meanwhile ExxonMobil and friends will be gorging on our tax dollars courtesy of Trump.

meeyeam 2025-09-30 12:35

Well, no. I was thinking more owners as opposed to buyers.

specter491 2025-09-30 12:47

Did this happen before or after the fallout with Elon? Was it retaliation?

Fresh-Ad-4556 2025-09-30 12:53

?

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 12:55

Before. In fact, Elon encouraged it and said they didn’t need it

solarsystemoccupant 2025-09-30 13:18

Tesla price cuts 10/1

Zachjsrf 2025-09-30 14:19

The tax credit artificially inflated the price of EVs imo for the entry level stuff so hopefully the prices drop a bit

StickFigureFan 2025-09-30 14:41

Elon doesn't want any competition. It's a classic pull the ladder up after yourself situation

lonnie123 2025-09-30 14:55

I think lots of EVs are still money losers aren’t they? Being sold to comply with fleet efficiency standards and build the platform to stay relevant in the future. I think Tesla notoriously had one of the only profitable EVs on the market.

Zachjsrf 2025-09-30 14:57

I do believe for a lot of companies its a pet project that Tesla basically forced them to get into reluctantly as they were taking market share. Pure EV companies are doing much better overall though. Dodge failed, GM gave up, I think Kia and Hyundai are doing relatively well though.

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 15:20

Huh? Tesla is losing the 7,500 as well. How does this do away with teslas competition?

lonnie123 2025-09-30 15:53

But are any of them making a profit on their EVs? I suppose my point in replying was that the credit didnt really inflate the cost of the entry level EVs because the companies dont have much room to go down in price already

V7KTR 2025-09-30 15:54

Last time they halved the tax credit, Tesla dropped the price of their cars. Tesla is already well established it’s easier for them to drop their price than other automakers new to the EV space. I bought my Tesla in April of 23 before the tax credit was halved. The price dropped the following month and continued to drop in the months after. Then they brought the tax credit back. Because of taxes, it may have actually been cheaper to buy the car at the lower price without the tax credit.

Zachjsrf 2025-09-30 15:59

I woukd have to check. Tesla as far as I know is the only EV manufacturer actually making money and thats why they'll be around for a long time

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 16:16

You don’t think ford or Chevy or Toyota or Hyundai can afford to drop their prices? Come on.

V7KTR 2025-09-30 16:27

This has been discussed before. Ford, Chevy, and Honda were already losing money producing EV’s and eliminating the tax credit made it even harder for them to compete with Tesla. I imagine it would be even harder now due to tariffs. Even though Ford and Chevy are American brands, many of their parts are sourced from china and Mexico. Percentage wise, Teslas are one of the most American cars you can buy.

terran1212 2025-09-30 16:33

Probably will cut shortly, maybe not 10/1. They need to see how many people are desperate enough to buy at current price without tax credits first.

specter491 2025-09-30 16:41

You're ignoring the massive amount of oil and gas subsidies that allow ICE vehicles to operate so cheaply and this allows legacy auto makers to profit on sales of vehicles. If we leveled the playing field and did zero subsidies on cars AND energy (electricity vs oil/gas) then EVs would take the cake.

StickFigureFan 2025-09-30 17:27

The tax credit most benefits manufacturers new to the EV space. The original credit in the 2010s was critical to Tesla's early success. Without it, only companies willing to sell at a loss for a time will be able to break into the space.

StickFigureFan 2025-09-30 17:30

The bigger issue with the tax credit going away IMO was that EVs qualifying for it was tied to companies getting the materials and building the car in the US so companies had an incentive to not outsource the manufacturing to other countries. Now the only reason to build here is a fear that they might get hit with Tariffs, but the Tariff policy has been all over the place.

wtfredditacct 2025-09-30 17:31

GM gave up? They're line of EVs may not be profitable (I have no idea), but they're definitely releasing new models/upgrading existing.

Fresh-Ad-4556 2025-09-30 17:31

Not sure what you mean, but Tesla isn’t considered luxury. With EV credits and state incentives (up to $4k+ that often prioritize low-income households), the cost of a Tesla Y is currently on par with Toyota RAV— which I assume you’d label a car for the “poors.” It may become out of reach once the EV credit ends. When that happens I’m sure you’ll be happy the “poor” are kept at bay. Great attitude 👍🏽

AdditionalLead7265 2025-09-30 17:33

I know Tesla isn't considered luxury at all and I'm not implying it is. Yet certain individuals in Tesla subreddits are upset about it since it used to be considered a "luxury". Also were you really that offended you replied again 4 hours later dude?

WorkingBake 2025-09-30 17:34

Y and 3 are far from luxury

StickFigureFan 2025-09-30 17:34

For sure, the oil and gas subsidies are WAY bigger than any EV tax credit. If we got rid of them though, not only would EVs win, but gas would be over 5 dollars a gallon and that's a surefire way to not get reelected.

AdditionalLead7265 2025-09-30 17:35

Yes I agree yet others don't feel that way

alvamaycare 2025-09-30 17:43

We were so worried we wouldn't get our car before the deadline as you have to have the car purchased by the end of the month and in hand - NOT just ordered. But we're good.

Fresh-Ad-4556 2025-09-30 17:44

Yes it’s offensive and an asshole mentality to call people “poors” invading your non-luxury club lol so yes I responded again to get more clarity on what you meant. I haven’t come across any discussion implying people are upset that it is no longer luxury and I don’t see why anyone would be since there are plenty of luxury type upgrades and what not to make your individual Tesla out of reach for the “poors”. The X starts at $99,000 If you are one of the poors and just making an comment on what you’ve observed than sorry for getting worked up ✌🏽

AdditionalLead7265 2025-09-30 17:46

I think you're pretty stupid honestly. I AM ONE OF THE POORS who got in because of the Tax Credit. I'm not going to deny that I wouldn't have purchased without it. My next purchase I'll end up making without it because I like the car that much. I've seen posts where people are complaining about Tesla being more commonplace. That's my experience thusfar. But if you're that much of a softie then go be offended elsewhere.

Fresh-Ad-4556 2025-09-30 17:50

What was the initial credit amount before being halved? Has always $7,500 max and went down to $3,750 ?

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 18:41

Oh well. I say capitalism should rule. If EVs provide a benefit then they should be able to sell without a credit. I didn’t buy my EV because I wanted to save the environment. In fact, it wasn’t even one of the reasons at all.

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 18:42

I also believe China should be allowed to sell their EVs here. More competition is better.

StickFigureFan 2025-09-30 19:03

In that case should we get rid of all the oil and gas subsidies?

WatchLover26 2025-09-30 19:21

Yes

V7KTR 2025-09-30 20:02

It was $7500 when I bought my car. I don’t know if it was ever higher than $7500. I do know that some states offer additional incentives separate from the federal tax credit. If I remember correctly people in Colorado were getting Teslas super cheap due to state incentives.

Snakend 2025-09-30 23:59

Most people who say they want capitalism don't actually understand what that means. You want socialism and you want alot of it.

Snakend 2025-09-30 23:59

You should have to pay a subscription to the fire department and the police. And every road should be a toll road.

halberdierbowman 2025-10-01 00:21

Nuh uh, I love the free market! I want to be able to make all the profit off all the work I do! Nobody else should get to profit off my success! I also want free roads to drive my cars on, clean rivers and lakes to fish in, free police to protect my property for me, free fire departments in case I burn down my house, fresh potable water and electricity delivered directly to my house, free money that one time I was down on my luck and almost starved, free school lunches because my mom didnt have any money after my dad died, free schools because we couldn't afford private tutors...

WatchLover26 2025-10-01 00:37

Nope!

gtoddjax 2025-10-01 00:48

Easy question, easy answer

Snakend 2025-10-01 00:54

Pay for a subscription to the police, fire department. Every road is a toll road. No social security, no medicare. No military.

Quin1617 2025-10-01 05:24

Reelection is already off the table due to term limits. Unless you meant the party.

kenji4861 2025-10-01 11:36

They also need to get all the orders that came in delivered. So price cuts aren’t going to happen for maybe at least 2 weeks

Grendel_82 2025-10-01 11:42

If you go back a few years, then yes it was mainly for those things. But then it became clear that the EV tech was simply better and also at the start of a technological curve that was going to be make it a lot better. Electric motors are simply better (i.e. more torque, smoother, quieter, and more energy efficient) and cheaper to manufacture. Battery tech is good (though expensive) but clearly going to get better (i.e., getting cheaper, more energy dense, faster at charging). Now basically all companies have internally admitted that it is future and even externally messaged that it is the future. They've stopped internal R&D spend on ICE engines (the type of R&D they did to release a better ICE engine in a decade) and they are releasing serious EVs across their market segments.

No-Meaning-8930 2025-10-01 12:31

I can't do it...... Trust me I want a model 3

hahnsoloii 2025-10-01 14:03

Okay … so there goes my large scale arbitrage operation idea.

Jgusdaddy 2025-10-01 17:06

Lost the tax credit, but GAINED a new EV registration fee.

kabloooie 2025-10-01 19:22

What the hell is that picture?

dptgreg 2025-10-01 20:05

Yet my AMLP stock continues to drop 🫠

carfo 2025-10-01 22:42

The only reason I traded in my car for a Tesla was because of the 7,500 fed tax credit, a 3,500 state tax credit, and my car had over 4k in equity. It sucks this incentive is going away. Trumps gotta appease his big oil friends.

Hem82 2025-10-01 23:01

Trump backstabbed Elon in many ways!! Elon and we as investors got harmed by it very bad.

Lancaster61 2025-10-04 18:17

If you thought critically, you might realize the number of downvotes is because most people don’t relate to what you’re saying. The votes shows an overwhelming majority of people don’t think of Tesla as a luxury brand, so they don’t understand/agree with your original comment.

AdditionalLead7265 2025-10-04 18:18

I quite literally don't care about Internet points like the vast majority of y'all do And if you knew how to read, I never said Tesla was a luxury brand. Anyway bye

Lancaster61 2025-10-04 18:21

Wow you really don’t think critically at all do you? The irony. This isn’t about points, this is about extracting data and information from the points. Whoosh.

kabloooie 2025-10-07 00:45

Ahh! No one has explained what this farkin' picture is. It's making me crazy.
