Tesla variants are so boring..

AwkwardlyPositioned 2025-08-01 03:28

People keep posting about these forged wheels. They don't look slim like most forged wheels. I think the wheels look nice, but they look like standard cast wheels.

fusiondynamics 2025-08-01 03:38

Will probably have sportier front and rear bumpers like the 3.

Equal-University2144 2025-08-01 04:22

That's what I've been waiting for to replace my 2022 MYP with. :)

Competitive_Ad_461 2025-08-01 04:37

I wonder if we’ll ever see the normal new Y with a third row or if it’s only going to be the L

Lanky-Anywhere-9994 2025-08-01 05:17

They look good. i just hope they don't get scuffed when you get closer than 3 feet away from a curb.

MutableLambda 2025-08-01 05:23

I really like Highland performance wheels, not sure about these

TJpRot 2025-08-01 06:19

I really hope they are lighter and maybe also slimmer than before. Uberturbines look great, but are so wide they get scratched easily and so heavy that they can't be considered very sporty

Present-Ad-9598 2025-08-01 08:03

Stop curbing your wheels

OptimizeWithAPassion 2025-08-01 08:32

Wheels are sexy

Give me the L!

pauerplay 2025-08-01 11:33

I’m sure they are. Still heavy as hell too. That’s why I put lightweight 19s on mine. Something like 15 lbs less per corner.

A_BIG_SPRUCE 2025-08-01 12:24

FR, the curb just ejected from the side of the road when I drove by and hit me. /s

johnnyma45 2025-08-01 14:42

Depreciation just doesn’t matter to some. I never buy my cars thinking “but what will they be worth X years from now.” What other purchase do you make with that logic?

Terrible_Soil_4778 2025-08-01 14:53

As long as it’s not as bumpy as the previous model, this will be a hit!

alle0441 2025-08-01 15:01

Might make sense for people that plan to get a new car every couple years.

johnnyma45 2025-08-01 15:02

Then the smart move would be to lease. Just not sure about OP’s comment about avoiding top spec EVs.

sl33pytesla 2025-08-01 15:52

Cost per mile including fuel, insurance, maintenance, plus depreciation. No difference in asking what my car will be worth in 5 years and how much money I can save by switching from gas to electric.

Diogenes256 2025-08-01 16:18

Oooh aaah.

Overall_Curve6725 2025-08-01 16:24

Same old same old

WillNotDoYourTaxes 2025-08-01 17:09

So we are supposed to believe that this car was spotted driving down what appears to be a rural road? But then we see the following: * Pictures were taken from three different angles with no visible motion blur. * The camera was on the side of the road. * The rims of the wheels appear not to have moved between the pictures. More likely that somebody from Tesla parked the car here, walked around and took three pictures, and then had them posted on Reddit.

Because depreciation isn’t a concern for me at all. I would get the MYP because it’s the most powerful Model Y and most fun for me to drive that I want to afford. I’m not looking to sell it in a year, 2 years, 4 years, 8 years. If I know I only need it for a few years I’ll lease.

uben999 2025-08-01 18:04

Near Dish

dllemmr2 2025-08-01 18:47

This is the new one actually.

dllemmr2 2025-08-01 18:49

More like 3 years and 40-50% depreciation, but you do have a point.

dllemmr2 2025-08-01 18:53

I think the reason your decision is seen as foolish and reckless is because you’re either wealthier or younger than OP. When you’re older and on a budget planning the next few years, 30k is a lot of money. But many people’s situation is different.

Lanky-Anywhere-9994 2025-08-01 20:08

This is a fact

Lanky-Anywhere-9994 2025-08-01 20:08

Stop designing wheels that stick out over the edge of the damn tire wall.

JerryLeeDog 2025-08-01 20:51

The new M3P wheels are forged so the new YP should also have forged wheels

Present-Ad-9598 2025-08-01 22:26

You get a sport trim with sport tires, they’re gonna be engineered to be sporty 🤷🏻‍♂️if you want the tire to stick out more get 18” or 19” wheels

Repulsive-Wall-9031 2025-08-02 07:13

Copied straight from a Polestar 2 Performance...

bittabet 2025-08-02 15:15

The depreciation will be fine once they remove the tax credit. The reason these depreciate so badly is because some states have huge incentives on top of the $7500 federal incentive. So those owners can sell for a LOT lower than the new price and still come out with comparable real out of pocket costs to other costs. Which sucks for anybody who doesn’t get all these credits.

icy1007 2025-08-02 17:46

That’s the cheaper Model Y, not the performance.

Kryptyx 2025-08-02 18:50

Yeah my 23 MYP getting replaced once this releases

unicorncumdump 2025-08-02 21:11

This is the dream!! After a road trip in the model 3, with 2 kids and 7 bags stuffed inside, a bit more room and power would make it perfect for my life

Correct-Willingness2 2025-08-03 13:27

Ooof 21” .. they range gonna be terrible

Fr33PantsForAll 2025-08-03 16:56

You are the first person I have seen who understands this.

Smart_Gate9406 2025-08-04 06:11

I love my track rims, pricy but really complete the look. Also my S3XY buttons are so worth it. I can give links for them if anyone wants.

put_tape_on_it 2025-08-04 15:16

Well at least they aren't paying motortrend for coverage.

newtonshark 2025-08-04 15:48

I work near here and I'm sure we will start seeing a lot of them around.

mofofofoo 2025-08-04 19:19

any chance these will be released before the september 30 deadline for the federal tax credit?

3point1secs 2025-08-05 00:45

It’s pretty simple in determining motion. Just look at the markings on the roadway, which are different in all three shots. Hell, there’s even a manhole cover in one. Even cellphone camera shutter speed is good enough to takes these.

WillNotDoYourTaxes 2025-08-05 01:00

Lol, you got me there. Car was indeed moving, or was moved between shots.

teslrrrrr 2025-08-05 13:14

Old Model Y with 20" Forged Wheels lol - [https://imgur.com/JHfmXGs](https://imgur.com/JHfmXGs)

AwkwardlyPositioned 2025-08-05 13:29

Look how much thinner the spokes are than the camouflaged car.   That's at least what I picture when someone says forged wheels.

teslrrrrr 2025-08-05 16:15

Yeah almost looks like Tsportline

Strange_Plastic_5475 2025-08-06 00:11

Not performance, it’s actually an economy model that doesn’t have the light bar (front and back) and no back seat screen to offset the no longer 7k incentives

ClydeMcCoy 2025-08-18 03:18

that's literally one street from Tesla HQ in Palo Alto

Dull_Support_4919 2025-08-18 15:51

still dont get why the massive wheels on the performance. i wish we could option it to have 18 or 19 inch wheels from the factory.

jrherita 2025-08-24 16:41

I wish I could just buy a Perf Y with the 19" Gemini wheels. I just want the acceleration, but don't want the reduced ride height, range, or more expensive tires to replace.
