Odd-looking rear diffuser. Almost looks like it has fake exhaust pipes
What the hell is that diffuser? And spoiler look odd on it too. How do they keep making it look worse?
>fake exhaust pipes Makes it go faster
Were these pics taken on an iPhone 6?
Glad i got the LR. SUV's aren't for fast driving, if that's what you want get a Plaid or M3P.
I never really hated any of the design choices of most Teslas but my God are they bland looking and the refresh of the Y is just making it look worse.
The people who buy the vehicle may actually like that. Like people who don’t know anything about cars would just see it as a design cue to indicate sportiness. It’s kind of like how everyone hated on all the plastic cladding Subaru uses now but normies are buying and sales have been good
The big panel looks so weird on the back. Completely fucks up the look. It's like a soccer mom mpv now.
Actually Tesla cameras
It does look odd. Sort of looks like a Prius too...
Awful. Tesla’s all look like they’ve been designed by recent design grads. Except for the cyber truck that looks like it was designed by a 5 year old.
The enormous rear empty space in the middle is actually a feature so that you can post your Ad or sticker in a more appearing way. 🤣
Yeah! Y LR here and 3P on the way. Did get the acceleration boost for the Y though. Makes it more what it should've been.
Is that an orange color?? Looks sweet ngl
Why did I get the same exact thought first look I thought it was quad exhaust 😂
It’s just plan ugly. More like a Pontiac Aztek refresh.
Just Ultra Red washed out by the Tesla Dashcam
:(
God damn the juniper is ugly...
I'm probably gonna get the acceleration boost after 1 year, makes my car feel new again 😅 Gonna spend the money on PPF instead of performance first, but it's still far faster than my previous Mazda 6.
+10hp
Tesla cam, in direct sun and zoomed in from a video.
How is that a Performance model? Looks the same.
When? In 2005?
I wasn’t a fan of the Juniper when I first started seeing pictures, but seeing it on the road, I have to say it looks pretty good. I never liked, and still don’t, the old Y. I saw a stealth grey Juniper driving in somewhat thick fog when it was overcast outside and it looked like something out of star wars from the rear. Looked great. I like the look of the performance here and the more aggressive splitter differentiates it from the LR. Sportier look. People here are always hyper critical but we’ll see a lot of these on the road for sure.
My flip phone from 2006 had better quality than the earlier Tesla cams.
More space for “please be patient, student driver” and “I bought this before Elon went crazy” stickers.
Dang I wish that "orange" in the first pic was an actual color option. Would look sweet.
Are we calling the iPhone 6 old now? I- oh. oh god.
A decade old camera
Yeah, I though I'd regret not having it from day one. Will cost the same but I can write it off on more days of ownership. Decided to do ppf myself to save on that (do have the experience though so thankful for that).
> if that's what you want get a Plaid Like a plaid model X?
Great comment, thanks for the input
10 generations old iPhone? Yes lmao
You are most welcome friend.
Front looks decent tho reminds me of the Kona making babies with a generic Chinese brand.
Those of us purchasing them are thankful that it doesn't look like every generic tryhard or soulless minor iteration from every brand for the last 40 years, or overly busy designs from the same brands. Finally a vehicle that's both incredible AND looks elegant and understated, while having "tough"/aggressive aspects. ✅ No badge on the hood ✅ Branding is muted and hardly visible ✅ Rear is simple instead of busy Haters be like "yeah but why doesn't it have dozens of lines and shapes everywhere to impress people 🤤"
Agreed. They look great irl.
I maintain that an Off Road Model Y is way more desirable than a performance Model Y. I want an SUV for adventures, not for racing.
Everyone who was never going to buy one talks about how they don't like th look. I couldn't wait to get mine from the moment I saw it—first design of a vehicle I've been excited about in decades. Only vehicle I've ever had that I look back at constantly. Couldn't be more happy that it DOESN'T look like every other gross soulless design for the last several decades. Thankful that Tesla doesn't try to design for normies.
Welp
Juniper has a huge ass.
I wish it was available during 1.99% promo, I went from MYP 2022 to new MYLR AWD. ;(

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. The CT looks terrible. The rest of the line up look like the rest of the current EVs. Bland. No design vision. If you like that, then good for you. I don’t.
Huh?
Think haters are more like “looks like a great place to put your license plate… wait, why is it on the bumper instead of that giant blank space?”
If it’s orange, I’m in trouble lol. But most likely washed out red because they don’t do cool colors.
Great comment, thanks for the input
It's like the iPhone vs cringe cheap android phones. The people calling this "bland" would call the iPhone "bland", but everyone else sees the elegance. When you've got a visionary, unique design, you don't need to look tryhard like every other car.
You’re so welcome my friend
Visionary. That’s a good one.
Looks like a model Y with an aftermarket body kit circa 1998.
There used to be a time where light bars where special and you instantly knew which car was driving in front of you. Nowadays they are completely overused and an already bland looking brand like Tesla should’ve gone for something more unique in my opinion.
It’s like they only know one way to make a car look faster
Hanging out in Tesla subs while you clearly hate them is weird. You’re just trying to provoke people
This is like when someone has an ugly baby and says “look everyone my baby is so cute” because it’s yours and you see cute, while the rest of us vomit.
Juniper is officially one of the ugliest cars on the road. They really botched the performance model this much? Wow. awful wheels and awful rear diffuser. Everyone with a legacy Model Y will be holding on to them for a long time at this rate.
Need that Car review guy to shove a stick in it.
I saw one of these the other day. It had what looked like a plaid style badge on the right. Same color.
I just got my Iphone 6. Are there newer models?
All that blank space in the rear Taylor Swift would make a song title about it. Oh wait...
Looking at the scenic road here, the Model Y trailing behind it, and the fact that this was running around uncovered, I wonder if Tesla was doing a promo video shoot for the YP (like they’ve done for all their cars).
huge ass what?
Looks like one of those weird Skyrim character creations.
Updog
I like the diffuser designed in fake exhaust pipes proportions, Tesla out here throwing shade at legacy auto with their shit designs nowadays 😂
What's wrong with plastic cladding? Might even save you from some scratches
No, come on, it's not visionary, they just tried to make it cheaper to repair. They've reused the old Y body style, and snapped on cybertruck-referencing front and back (probably just to justify CT design, like it's their thing now). I'm happy that you like it, but please don't talk about it like it's some design marvel. It's a product of Tesla trying to make good and cheap vehicles, while satisfying some random whims of the management.
What is updog?
7 is just rumours at this point. You're good.
I want an electric hot hatch, but this is the best we're allowed to have in the States it seems.
Nothing much how about you?
Looks very odd in a lot of photos because of distortion and lens distortion. Looks very nice IRL imo
Unfortunately the brief for this refresh was “make it look like CT”
Just wait for the vinyl!
They absolutely killed this car. Stop catering to Chinese
Especially for being known as a leader. I absolutely despise when brands in any industry get too large and start playing safe. They likely had way better designs, I actually like the new 3 rear lights and design overall, but they fall well short on front in both vehicles and y has a hideous back. Took the S3XY out of the brand. And sexy sells cars.
Yessir. Made my interior basically juniper years ago. Just want the new “Tesla” steering wheel vs logo installed.
The older exterior looks much better, though the new interior is very much an upgrade. Many of us hate the half generic/half cybertruck light bar. The reason that this Model Y is so disappointing to me is that it would have looked better if it had the sleeker front end from the Highland 3. The new Rivian R2 is a real threat to this thing and Tesla should not take for granted the investment that VAG is making in Rivian. Technology advantages go away fast this day and age.
Someone edited the plate to be on the hatch right under the light bar and it looks so much better that way.
Have you no self awareness about the irony of disparaging the juniper's sleek "realistic" lightbar while lauding the rivian which has headlights straight out of a Disney cartoon? I keep forgetting the CT even exists until juniper haters bring it up. Then I look at it and it couldn't possibly look less like the juniper. So they both got the lightbar right. Probably every car in existence's appearance would benefit from replacing two headlights with the CT lightbar. That one simple elegant piece is where any similarity between them starts and ends. Regarding the previous exterior, it looked like a gen1 Tesla. For me, it was too round. I'm VERY glad the new design got everything so perfect design wise.
>and it looks so much ~~better~~ more like every other car ever that way. or >and it looks so much ~~better~~ more busy and generic like every other car ever that way. or >and it looks so much ~~better~~ more soulless and sterile, like every other car ever that way. Fixed it for you.
looks like it has 6 exhaust pipes
Bro why tf they do all this once I barely bought the fucking juniper. Wtf
The change makes it look more generic, looks straight out of China with the lightbar on the front and the plate on the bottom.. The Model 3 does look good in comparison from old to refresh.
>The change makes it look more generic, looks straight out of China I'm in the USA where it looks quite unique and refreshing. >with the...plate on the bottom Here, we'd prefer to not have the plate entirely. It's a blight on the beauty of a vehicle, it only exists *anywhere* by regulation and it's quite ironic that you call it "generic" for succeeding at NOT looking like the rest of the slop on the roads.
I’m a trucker I saw a weird looking Tesla like car the other day. Swirl wrap and some extra cameras mounted.
They say it will have message delivery notifications?

Who knew?
Welcome to the internet
What floor mats are y'all using for your Tesla? I got no clue which brand's good.
In my humble opinion, Tuxmat is the top choice. They may be a bit pricey, but they cover a vast area and are super easy to clean.
Thanks for the suggestion. I notice that the edges of their floor mats are quite high. Will they curl or fold after being used for a long time?
The Y really is an ugly car. Shame I want the size coming from a Model 3 but cant get over the looks.
Why do they make the hatch part of the bumper? Any collision is likely to result in replacing the hatch. Lots of cars like this nowadays.
It also will save you some real deterioration if you live by the ocean too. That area along the base line between the wheels (it probably has a real term that I'm too ignorant to know), the edge of wheel wells, and that back lower edge, all LOVE to rust in most vehicles. It also is chipped and scratched and tore up the most. The plastic cladding is the right sort of armor I feel.
I actually think they look pretty slick. Their exterior is not super eye-catching but it's easy on the eyes (and if so much copying of the Tesla design language hadn't happened, it would stand out more - there are so many clones now that it didn't change enough to stand out). The interior refresh looks really nice though I think. I'm often in the minority though aesthetically. Maybe I have bad taste - or maybe everyone else does! If you want a vehicle that stands out, for better or worse, you can't go wrong with the Cyber Truck.
Spotted in 1995? The last time cameras were that bad.
I’m mean I know they didn’t catch the joke and took the opportunity to write “bruh”
*iPhone 6 cam
Did Franz have a Chinese stroke or something?
I spotted one the other day near DC, it looked exactly like this but in silver.
Agree. The Model Y looks like what the Germans would be designing, if they had not decided to copy the Japanese. It is a super clean and aerodynamically functional design. The only negative is its own success, which means your car won't be very unique.
I think I’m arguing the precise opposite about uniqueness.
