Model Y Juniper Long Range Rear Wheel Drive - Now Available in the US

colsandersloveskfc | 2025-05-07 01:16 | 141 views

Tesla has officially launched the LR RWD variant of the new refreshed Juniper, starting at $44,990. This makes it $4k less compared to the LR AWD version. It does not appear at this time to be eligible for the promotional APR, only the LR AWD version is showing the discounted rate.

Trip_Se7ens 2025-05-07 01:23

Holy cow, that range! We just ordered the awd!

Ok-Click4906 2025-05-07 01:37

Bring on the performance model!

p3n9uins 2025-05-07 01:42

I had to click to see what you were talking about…357 mi…that’s great!

matthew19 2025-05-07 02:01

And 7 seat option

[deleted] 2025-05-07 02:03

Too small

lmauuur 2025-05-07 02:03

Now waiting for that sweet 0% interest then i'm all in!!

Expert-Prune-766 2025-05-07 02:15

Looks like the speakers aren't a downgrade like the M3

strawboard 2025-05-07 02:16

Is the battery NMC or LFP?

Traaapt 2025-05-07 02:25

does it mention that somewhere?

engwish 2025-05-07 02:27

Honestly huge. I’m a dingus and didn’t know that my RWD M3 had the base stereo. It isn’t bad, but I miss the bass. Everything else about the car has been perfect.

meepstone 2025-05-07 02:32

All long range Tesla's are NMC

tech01x 2025-05-07 02:33

I am intrigued by a stretch long wheelbase 7 seater… not clear if that is coming to the U.S.

J380 2025-05-07 02:35

1.99% financing only applies to the Dual Motor and not the RWD so not worth it imo. You are paying the same monthly payment.

sonobono11 2025-05-07 02:37

Such good value

FutureAZA 2025-05-07 02:37

And that's on the new, more realistic test. This is a huge range boost from the pre-refresh.

FutureAZA 2025-05-07 02:38

Aren't they NCA?

FutureAZA 2025-05-07 02:38

That's what I'm waiting for. If they pull the IRA credit before that comes, it means I won't be upgrading.

Scoobydiesel87 2025-05-07 02:53

Ooooh whaaaa?!? This might sway me to just go this route instead of the AWD… I don’t really neeeed AWD but I wanted the extra features…

Expert-Prune-766 2025-05-07 02:53

You can compare the RWD to the AWD and it states the differences on the website

brohammer5 2025-05-07 03:06

About damn time. Tesla needs to decouple interior options with power train and battery options completely. It reeks of up-selling arrogance which they frankly aren't in a position to do right now.

NoaLink 2025-05-07 03:34

And V2L and faster charging and HW5. As a HW3 driver I may just wait one more year b

stereoducks 2025-05-07 03:48

Model Y is in a dumb place right now for financing. Makes zero sense to pull on RWD without 1.99.

DeadMansTetris_ 2025-05-07 04:13

It is here in the UK, that's what really swayed me to go for the LR AWD. It's the only model for us available with the premium speaker setup

whirlingHalfLiter 2025-05-07 04:23

And the depreciation!

1startreknerd 2025-05-07 04:32

Uh, it's not as if Tesla is the only one who does this. At least it's only ever three trims, RWD, AWD, Performance. For instance, there's 6 trims for the ID.4, 8 trims for EV6, and 10 for the Taycan! The Lightning used to have far too many, though now down to 4. It's like: "I liked that trim but I have to upgrade to get the glass roof".

Confident-Sector2660 2025-05-07 04:46

in hyundai/kia evs when you option a leather interior you lose like 40 miles of range because the wheels are forced to be 2 inches larger.

Confident-Sector2660 2025-05-07 04:47

Tesla needs to bring the same juniper brake system to model 3, add back the premium sound system in the RWD and use the new juniper light bar design

ctzn4 2025-05-07 06:41

100% agree with everything you said. I daily a '22 M3 LR AWD and compared to the other '23 Model 3 RWD we have, it is noticeably better, like a 9/10 compared to a 7/10. Of course the RWD has an already excellent sound system, but besides the missing bass and sub bass, it feels like the sound stage also disappears behind you, out of your 180° field of view, whereas the AWD makes you feel like you are surrounded completely 360°.

gandhi_theft 2025-05-07 09:55

They are in Europe between those two models. Bizarre decisions

Jman841 2025-05-07 10:03

I was set on the AWD for all the upgrades. But an extra $4k just for a bit faster 0-60 and less range is a lot harder to justify.

SpaceXBeanz 2025-05-07 10:49

I LOVE the premium sound system with more speakers. Sound systems are huge for me in a car purchase.

ParksNet30 2025-05-07 10:54

Does this get the $2,000 model y loyalty bonus?

StarWarder 2025-05-07 10:54

Nothing reeks more of upselling arrogance then going to the Lexus website and configuring a sport sedan. Nickel and diming you for a touch screen and a heated steering wheel a la carte. Each interior feature costing 1-2k a piece. With I shit you not, 11 model tiers for the IS alone. Tesla is the worst car company except for all the other car companies

ZeroWashu 2025-05-07 11:00

The real reason the interest rate wins over the savings at purchase is because you can do the minimal down payment and instead put the rest you would have paid into CDs or high yield savings accounts and earn more than the interest paid.

d00mt0mb 2025-05-07 11:01

Never heard of that. Please educate me

7Sans 2025-05-07 12:06

I checked the site and it seems like there is no difference on anything else other than awd vs rwd? Is this actually true or is the tesla site just not comoaring everything?

Technical_Act3541 2025-05-07 12:14

yes..nca

jesperjames 2025-05-07 12:49

In EU only the AWD has the premium audio.. bummer

bbqturtle 2025-05-07 12:54

Can you explain this more? When did they change the rules on reporting range? Do we know the battery pack size?

Par4DaCourse 2025-05-07 13:03

The lease option looks appealing.

Technical_Act3541 2025-05-07 14:30

For what i'm reading that is no. I don't own a model y so can't take advantage of it. Do have a model 3.

thefalconfromthesky 2025-05-07 14:41

How do you know? I'm trying to find that info on the website. Thanks in advance.

Expert-Prune-766 2025-05-07 14:49

If you go to Tesla under the new Model Y, it says "View and Compare features". It says "Included with All Trims - 15 speakers, 1 subwoofer"

Klownicle 2025-05-07 14:57

Give it time. It will absolutely come to it. And likely 0%. They've done it once already. They'll do it again. The floor gates opened.

mia305nj 2025-05-07 15:11

I always had an AWD Model Y and for a short time I had the RWD Model 3. Now that the new RWD Model Y is set to 5.4 0-60 vs 4.8 AWD. Is that even noticeable? I'm Florida so no need for AWD.

shaneucf 2025-05-07 15:19

If you are a current Y owner you get an email offer for $2k if you replace it with a new one.

Phishhead69 2025-05-07 16:00

Still waiting for the 7 seater...

Technical_Act3541 2025-05-07 16:08

One of the car magazines tested the Highland LR RWD and they did 0-60 in 4.6 secs.

Peeniskatteus 2025-05-07 16:17

Once again a huge benefit that doesn't apply to Europe :(

Peeniskatteus 2025-05-07 16:30

With Plaid motors so that it's faster than EV6 GT.

mhathaway1 2025-05-07 16:38

I didn’t get that email

shaneucf 2025-05-07 18:02

actually it was a while ago. I got mine April 26th The 1.99% APR email stated "cannot be combined with this $2000 offer"

icancounttopotatos 2025-05-07 20:49

> It does not appear at this time to be eligible for the promotional APR Give it a couple of weeks

terran1212 2025-05-07 21:47

I'd rather have more range and a lighter car. Every EV I've bought is a RWD.

terran1212 2025-05-07 21:48

Sure everyone does that but Tesla is the one who's seeing sales go down.

terran1212 2025-05-07 21:48

You mean rwd?

terran1212 2025-05-07 21:48

They will both be 0% before long.

Snakend 2025-05-08 01:08

It's half the cost of what I paid for my Y in 2022. This company is going right down the drain.

[deleted] 2025-05-08 02:56

[removed]

g1hr 2025-05-08 03:11

Makes plenty of sense if you prioritize range over being slightly faster.

stereoducks 2025-05-08 04:23

Both are equally negligible and you’d probably have better resale with the AWD. I’m sure some edge cases could prefer the extra range though.

teslamotors-ModTeam 2025-05-08 04:25

No links from that blog.

casino_r0yale 2025-05-08 20:42

Surely the next refresh has to incorporate the cybertruck changes 800V, steer by wire, right? The Juniper just doesn’t feel substantially different than that original 2018 model 3 base platform, just incremental improvements (better soundproofing, better suspension, slightly more battery).

casino_r0yale 2025-05-08 20:43

Inflation too, though that would eat into CDs. Need index funds for that

[deleted] 2025-05-08 21:26

chances of 0% APR financing by end of the year?

VigilantCMDR 2025-05-08 21:46

OR you need AWD for winter or off roading

[deleted] 2025-05-09 03:31

I think you have good chances to see 0% by the end of the month honestly. My zip code is full of model Y’s in inventory ready to go.

danielhez 2025-05-09 05:35

Is that a thing? Not sure if this is satire

danielhez 2025-05-09 05:37

nah u just bought at the wrong time

TimJay22 2025-05-10 03:18

I just upgraded from a 18 m3 LR DM to a Y Juniper LR DM. It's pretty different.

TimJay22 2025-05-10 03:19

I was able to combine with the $500 loyalty offer though

ChickenFlavoredCake 2025-05-10 07:27

Not because they're not making it customizable enough

casino_r0yale 2025-05-10 09:32

But they are all incremental is my point. They haven’t radically changed the battery or the drive train; it’s all the old tech. I’m sure the subjective experience is much better because of all the things I mentioned but it’s not a fundamental shift like steer by wire, V2L, or 800V

VideoGameJumanji 2025-05-12 04:51

The audio system in my dual motor Y is god tier, I have never heard audio sound so perfect

lmauuur 2025-05-12 05:18

Yes, it's a thing! They had 0% interest promo for the previous model Y earlier this year. Most likely by the 4th quarter of this year or even earlier.

engwish 2025-05-12 22:19

Just curious, did you have a Tesla before? I love the stereo in my 1st gen LR Y.

VideoGameJumanji 2025-05-13 01:20

No I only drove a family ranger, but have heard sound systems in Mercedes and bmw that my family have bought over the years and they don’t come close

trikens33 2025-05-19 02:28
