Very likely the first leaks of the performance. Back bumper seems unchanged other than a spoiler. I'm excited to see how the front looks

GO__NAVY 2025-02-28 19:11

Don’t tell me that’s a fake performance brake cover /cap 🫠

feurie 2025-02-28 19:15

The red paint on any caliper is for looks anyway so who cares? If the limiting factor isn’t the rear brakes but Tesla feels people like the look then go for it.

Bubonic_Butters 2025-02-28 19:24

Aren't the new Model 3 Performance calipers bigger than stock?

justinlok 2025-02-28 19:25

It's not about the color. It's about real performance brembo brakes vs teeny brakes with a cover. And yes I realize they used covers already.

You’re telling me the non-sport SUV felt slower than the sport sedan? That’s wild man.

007meow 2025-02-28 19:49

The Long Range SUV was slower than the Performance sedan? Damn how could they have let this happen Tesla slippin fr fr 😔

switch8000 2025-02-28 20:12

Model Y be wearing those tight jeans.

importantshare 2025-02-28 20:16

Model Y Performance might be the worst car in the lineup. Range is DISMAL. The performance is mediocre compared to all other performance/plaid vehicles in the lineup. Brakes are very bad. Perf. Wheels get destroyed. Rides way too low for an SUV. I just don’t see who is buying these and am surprised they are running it back with Juniper.

fs454 2025-02-28 20:18

Highland M3P uses larger Brembo brakes, they just don't care to say they're Brembo.

Alive_Wedding 2025-02-28 20:18

Yeah no sh*t. 0-60 in 3.1 seconds vs 4.2 seconds is very noticeable a difference

amoney805 2025-02-28 20:39

I enjoy the lowered look of the Performance models. Otherwise the wheel gap looks ridiculous.

ZeroBalance98 2025-02-28 20:40

Soccer moms/dads who want to feel young

cknkatsu 2025-02-28 20:47

I see a bunch of performance Y’s on the road. I’d buy them too. Love the stance as well.

importantshare 2025-02-28 20:47

It’s an SUV???? How is that ridiculous wheel gap? How old are you?

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-02-28 20:53

When you paint calipers red, it adds +25hp.

amoney805 2025-02-28 20:56

It's a crossover. No one is going off-roading in this thing.

lamgineer 2025-02-28 20:57

More like shorten braking distance

importantshare 2025-02-28 20:59

Interesting bro https://cleantechnica.com/2023/02/03/treasury-now-classifies-tesla-model-y-as-an-suv/

X718klK_h 2025-02-28 21:00

Wouldn't you like to know...

sp33dmaster77 2025-02-28 21:03

Same reasons why the macan easily outsells other Porsche models? Some people do enjoy having a balance of practicality, and scratching an itch for having dialed up performance and handling. Yes it's a compromise, and for many it's a perfect one.

amoney805 2025-02-28 21:04

"We know many of you will find this hard to believe, but the same federal agency can define the same car differently for different purposes." Shoot, for a $7500 tax credit I'll let you call it whatever you want

dtpearson 2025-02-28 21:40

No, it definitely adds hp, just ask any 19yo.

PEKKAmi 2025-02-28 22:21

Of all parts of the new MY, the ass is the most divisive. This said, this would be the part where any cosmetic addition/trim can deliver the most differentiation (from the non-performance MY). Maybe that’s why the ass is covered up?

Sticky230 2025-02-28 22:52

Bet they haven’t fixed the sock smell! Enjoy your car smelling like feet every six months

Flipslips 2025-02-28 22:56

What

KidDropout 2025-02-28 23:00

You can remedy that by spraying AC cleaner in the frunk intake and passenger footwell.

redgaze30 2025-02-28 23:38

In some other thread highland owners have reported that since taking delivery in early 2024 none of them have had that issue. I had a December build 23 and for the 9 months I had it I never had that issue either.

GO__NAVY 2025-02-28 23:49

Vtec kicked in yooo

p3n9uins 2025-03-01 00:06

I would imagine the front looks exactly the same, no? Have they ever differentiated performance/plaid from the regular models on the front end?

laumbr 2025-03-01 00:15

3 and 3P differ much in front now

Turbulent-Abroad7841 2025-03-01 00:18

The highland performance redesigned the front bumper

DropKnowledge69 2025-03-01 00:21

Nah ... Just another wannabe that painted his calipers red. 🤪

HEYitsBIGS 2025-03-01 00:21

Yes. The old one also had bigger calipers than the non-perfmance trims.

DropKnowledge69 2025-03-01 00:22

For looks ... you're silly.

Taylooor 2025-03-01 02:03

Big boy pants

batprn 2025-03-01 02:32

How innovative. /s All the styling of a 1990’s Dodge Neon.

KentJMiller 2025-03-01 05:25

Achshually, it's about the color. Red and yellow are fast. Black and brown will slow you down.

whalechasin 2025-03-01 05:54

i sure hope that red and yellow brakes also slow you down…

KentJMiller 2025-03-01 06:29

A train horn mod helps remove the need for that.

AwkwardlyPositioned 2025-03-01 06:51

It’s as close as we’re getting to a Tesla hot hatch anyway.  That’s why I bought one.

Martbern 2025-03-01 12:12

How would a Model Y wear pants?

Zealousideal_Aside96 2025-03-01 18:31

It’s not that different. It’s a slightly different bumper design. Everything else like the headlights are identical.

WalrusOk2896 2025-03-01 22:19

I agree ”Performance” SUV’s in general don’t make sense

laumbr 2025-03-02 00:23

I think it qualify as much different even if it's "just the bumper". It looks massively more aggressive.

jaywoof94 2025-03-02 00:34

I really hope the wheels are black on the performance.

Shakurs2pac 2025-03-02 05:52

I have a 2024 m3p no issue with smell lol

mikathepika1 2025-03-02 08:03

Yeah it really does. Subtle change but huge difference in aggressiveness

filmagnoli 2025-03-02 09:55

What could be so different? Given the other models are already out? A spoiler?, yes, ok …. And? ….

Adiraj87 2025-03-02 16:06

Who is buying all this crap from the madman

T0nneX 2025-03-02 19:06

Hyped, why would they cover?

fanzakh 2025-03-02 23:00

I think it's the old model to fool you.

JONNILIGHTNIN 2025-03-03 05:06

Nah. It was a mule for the new model Y. Close to Tesla in Palo Alto.

juan003 2025-03-04 19:03

Most likely a more aggressive front bumper to differentiate it from a regular Y. Maybe a flared out valance.

bartturner 2025-03-04 22:32

Anyone want to guess what the 0 to 60 will be with the new Model Y?

LostLooking4Hope 2025-03-09 17:12

Let me guess. The rear looks exactly the same as it has for the past decade. Haha.

LostLooking4Hope 2025-03-09 17:13

Their gigacast approach to molding will result in teslas always looking the same no matter what.

CrashNowhereDrive 2025-03-10 14:08

Looks more like a car diaper to me

Dopechess 2025-03-10 15:08

Weak AF

S3XYPLAID 2025-03-31 22:27

Glad to see it still has shit brakes.

bubbavfx 2025-04-16 20:12

you’re crazy! This car is awesome! unless you’ve actually owned one, you don’t know. So much value and performance for the price.

Sticky230 2025-04-18 03:26

Not sure why I am downvoted but I had the same as this. Water from the AC system drops behind the firewall and pools there causing the smell. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/GccN7QhWSj
