Lol "7 seats"

dexterie 2025-02-12 14:21

I’m also curious about the line of accessories they’re supposed to come up with.

picflute 2025-02-12 14:26

The frunk fridge seems to be the upcoming product

YoImJustAsking 2025-02-12 14:26

What about long range rwd?

whoooooooooooooooa 2025-02-12 14:26

Is there even enough room for an extra row!?

dexterie 2025-02-12 14:27

Yes, it was on that promo video they had. Looks neat. But wonder if they’ll come up with other stuff.

oliphant428 2025-02-12 14:27

That too.

dexterie 2025-02-12 14:27

Also that.

CallMePyro 2025-02-12 14:28

This is awesome! If they can sell a couple hundred thousand of those in the US, it should stem the tide in Europe, Canada and China

Informal_Ad603 2025-02-12 14:33

Prob gonna be a longer version.

bullz7210 2025-02-12 14:33

We have a 7 seater and it works for our 4 kids. Not amazing, but works. I wonder if on the new 7 seater if theyll find an extra inch or 2 (twss) of leg room.

TheSlackJaw 2025-02-12 14:34

I doubt it, they didn't do that before.

farfromelite 2025-02-12 14:37

It's in the bed of the cybertruck.

ZeroWashu 2025-02-12 14:40

2 + 3 + 2 which is how the current one works.

SpiritualCatch6757 2025-02-12 14:46

I don't see how they can add extra room back there given how the refresh looks. I mean, you've seen the specs. Where will the space come from? Unless they make it a wagon flat top, pushing the third row further back will cut into head space. I'm kinda glad now, that I didn't wait and got my 7 seater last year. We'll see if I am still glad later this year. We have 4 as well and the teenager still fits back there.

johnnyma45 2025-02-12 14:49

Aftermarket dealer installed option. They remove the hatch and add two more elevated seats, like those safari trucks.

CandyFromABaby91 2025-02-12 15:00

I wish the roof line didn’t curve down so quickly, and they took 2 inches from the trunk for the 3-rd row seat. Would be an amazing family car.

orangeatom 2025-02-12 15:03

Curious about performance and range for awd

Suitable_Switch5242 2025-02-12 15:08

The previous gen Model Y already has a third row option. It's just very compact.

dpate267 2025-02-12 15:59

They really should make an EWB Model Y it'd sell even better.

shaheedmalik 2025-02-12 16:02

I'm 6'2 and can sit back there. The key is to move the front and middle row forward.

pinpinbo 2025-02-12 16:25

For real imagine Rivian R3 form factor but Tesla

garibaldiknows 2025-02-12 17:05

I am dubious.

dexterie 2025-02-12 17:27

Ah, yes. But, honestly, I’d like some sort of contraption in the trunk to hold grocery bags or something. Something like some (maybe all?) Volvo have.

standarsh50 2025-02-12 17:40

It would be nice if they make a 7 seat MYP, to date you could only get the 5 seater in Performance. We have a big car for the kids but on the rare occasion that I would need for one of their friends it would be perfect.

hwcminh 2025-02-12 17:49

I believe the MYP has a larger rear motor and that's why it can't accomodate the 7-seat configuration.

SQLDevDBA 2025-02-12 18:03

As someone who initially ordered a Model Y Performance 7 seater in 2019/2020 I’d certainly love both combined :) My order for the curious: https://i.imgur.com/HaNYOkM.png Getting that “switch your order cause we aren’t gonna make it” text was frustrating.

falooda1 2025-02-12 18:10

I have it and it's a pain. Have to lift the little kids from the trunk. Theyre unable to do their belts themselves due to space so you're bending over for that. They cry the whole time cause their feet are squished. Wish I got a minivan. I think it works for four only cause you can keep the middle row up. But with less than that you're using it with adults in the middle so it's pretty bad.

jvoss9 2025-02-12 18:14

That really bummed me out and I’m still really confused why the LR is the only of the 3 to have the third row option.

SQLDevDBA 2025-02-12 18:22

When we asked, we were told it was due to the larger Rear motor of the Performance variant. We were bummed too, but we switched to 5 seater and took delivery of unit 0003510 in May 2020.

_casshern_ 2025-02-12 19:57

I missed that? Where was that? Do you know if it be retrofitted or is it a factory install?

dexterie 2025-02-12 20:00

It’s on the video on designing the new model they posted on Tesla’s official YouTube channel. At minute 2:30 they show it, I think. And on that section of the video they mention there will be more accessories coming. :)

_casshern_ 2025-02-12 20:27

Thanks!!

NowChew 2025-02-12 20:42

How is it powered?

FastLaneJB 2025-02-13 00:04

How do you stitch your head back on after you’ve removed it to fit? 😉

shaheedmalik 2025-02-13 00:12

Lean forward.

djslivva 2025-02-13 02:52

I was really interested in the 6 seater option that was rumored. It does a lot to cut down on claustrophobia in the third row and also makes it so you don’t have to move child seats

Saltyeconbro 2025-02-13 04:12

Knowing Tesla, battery powered and inconvenient to use anywhere else

BjF98 2025-02-13 12:15

If you want more space and a Tesla, get a model X. It's that simple. But i would recommend not getting more than 3 children in the first place.

Deimi76 2025-02-13 14:00

interested

hamiltok7 2025-02-13 17:48

Cool. Still trash car run by a trash individual

MoDa65 2025-02-16 07:05

3rd row is a joke in both the y and the x. More so on the y. Its only for small kids. By the time they finish elementary it's just a joke in the 3rd row. You want a vehicle that will grow with you up until the kids are teens, Tesla ain't it unless you only have 2 kids. The middle seat on the y fing sucks. Biased owners are just too forgiving to say the reality of it or those who purchase the 3rd row try to often justify saying it's great in a pinch but really it sucks

MoDa65 2025-02-16 07:06

Many people fit there, but the reality is that it sucks and not for long trips.and even short trips is horrible.

MoDa65 2025-02-16 07:08

Even the x ain't that great. Its better but still sucks as a 3 row. Especially those expecting to own vehicle long term and have it til their kids grow into teens. The x ain't worth it as a 3rd row. Rivian and ev9 just squash the y and x when it comes to comfortable and realistic 3 row vehicle

MoDa65 2025-02-16 07:12

Lol yea. All these people clamoring and raving about a 3rd row need to get a reality check. If you really need a 3 row, Tesla ain't it. Even in a pinch or rare occasion, what even get it then. Tesla shouldvs put their efforts on a real SUV 3 row to compete with ev9, gravity, ioniq 9, rivian... Instead of the cybertruck. 3 row y were just money grab for the gullible. Even the x isn't much better.

makoblade 2025-02-18 15:18

You probably dodged a bullet, tbh. The 3rd row seats are functionally useless, and I say that as part of the only demographic that could even hope to use them (younger kids, just out of car seats). Bringing the 3rd row up and granting even a tiny bit of foot space cramps the 2nd row and makes it rather uncomfortable for basically anyone out of a car seat.

makoblade 2025-02-18 15:20

Although you're coming off as unreasonably negative, you are right. I have a MY 7 and the 3rd row just isn't it. It works in a pinch, but that's all it's good for.

makoblade 2025-02-18 15:20

Makes sense. Make the experience bad for everyone! ;)

makoblade 2025-02-18 15:21

The seats are there. Leg space? Not so much.

shaheedmalik 2025-02-18 15:33

Actually no, you have room still.

SQLDevDBA 2025-02-18 15:55

I wouldn’t necessarily agree, but I get your point. I spent a week on vacation with my brother and his MYLR7 and it wasn’t terrible, it was great. 2-3 hour rides in a pinch weren’t unbearable and everyone was fairly comfortable (7 of us plus a few weekender bags in the frunk, subtrunk, and trunk). Of course we strategically sat folks but still. We have a model X 5 seater as well and we both still agree we’d prefer a Model Y performance 7 seater based on our experiences with both.

makoblade 2025-02-18 16:18

I suppose it works for smaller folks. Pushing up the front seats is wildly uncomfortable as the driver, and the middle row does not have appreciable leg room if you're giving the 3rd row ample space.

takaiguchi 2025-02-22 07:06

It’s in the store now. Not powered.
