I definitely prefer the new Model 3 version
The dimension differences between new 3 and new Y are interesting: That's 1.9 inches wider, 7.2 inches taller, and 2.8 inches longer than the refreshed Model 3. I would like to know the ground clearance of the new Y.
The model Y is slightly larger than the model 3 in most dimensions, but the biggest difference is height and the hatchback design.
They forgot to mention the turn signal stalk present in the Y and missing in the 3.
6.6 inches, it’s listed right on Teslas page!
Why is that interesting? It’s an small SUV compared to a car
What a pointless article. It’s bigger is the only actual difference they mention. Powertrain battery etc are presumably the same. Other than that, the launch series is fully loaded and only AWD but that isn’t really a difference between the vehicles. They don’t mention the turn signal stalk or just in general that the Model has always had some differences like the HEPA filter.

Power fold rear seats, larger rear seats, frunk drain and no power frunk too

TLDR; They did not drive the Juniper in this article so it's just a specs comparison.
Yeah the new 3 and Y have almost the same dimensions as their predecessors.
Are LFP batteries getting phased out?
It's the same platform, so it tells you how much they may or may not have changed the platform for the vehicle.
Thank you! I had not noticed that
It is still pointless. you want an SUV get the Y, you want a sedan get the 3. Do you need or want more space get a Y, want a bit more fun, get a 3. Doubt people going to be it has a drain plug in the frunk looks like im getting the Y.
This is very true, I hope the 3 gets this, and M3P from Shanghai gets a better battery.
The Highland is currently discounted 4000 euros, exactly like the legacy Y. Could that mean that a revised 3 is in the works with front and rear light bars, bumper camera and maybe electric back seats (the latter is not likely)?
Tesla bought LFP equipment from CATL to install in Nevada. It's believed that will result in cars getting them back at some point. The import tariffs on the ones made in China make them prohibitively expensive, on top of the loss of IRA eligibility, and lack of backend manufacturing credit.
I’m just glad they don’t look the same anymore. And obviously the 3 looks better, but it always has.
Agreed. It is disappointing that there’s no improvement in range.
Both don’t have power frunk right?
correct
Supposedly the new highland 3 gets much closer to its EPA then older models. But I don't recall how much better or worse it is in winter compared to older models.
And Tesla has some new LFP design and chemistry per patent that the YouTube battery guy Jordan as I recall seems to think it was pretty good news and doable.
So far I’m at/beating rated efficiency in my 25 Highland. I had a 2018 M3 before and was lucky to hit 80% on trips. Its a night and day difference
I heard Tesla drivers are the new BMW drivers, no signaling necessary
Driving reviews wil tell the story. Until then plenty of static reviews abound, some making speculations about driving performance. The old MY driving performance was worse than the old M3, same is expected with the new one, given the higher center of gravity of the SUV.
Model 3 already looks dated. And who wants a HW4 car that doesn't have turn signal stalk or front bumper camera...
Where do you see any discounts? The model 3 rear wheel drive is close to 60k here. It’s actually the most expensive it’s ever been
And to answer your quesiton, Tesla purposely said they want to keep the designs separate for the 3 and Y this time around so I doubt they make it look similar to the Y which is specifically designed for its dimensions (hence those terrible light bars lol)
Yep. 22 3 LR - pre highland - owner here. Rated range when new as displayed by the car was up to 363 miles. Has now crept down to 320. Road trips at 70-75 MPH+ obviously cut down on that a lot. Especially in cold weather. Supercharging gets the job done but I don’t like having to stop and charge. Some people prefer a stop here and there, I’d rather drive straight through to the extent possible. The refresh models for 3 and Y are clearly great all around upgrades - but I won’t be tempted to drive one (and see what else I’m missing out on) until there is a *significant* range boost/larger battery - larger battery would improve not just range but miles added in given time period since a larger battery should sustain a better charging curve. 400+ rated range in 3 or Y and I’m likely a buyer of either.
I *always* use my turn signals- I hope to gain retribution for my fellow M3 drivers.

I hope they do a Juniper model 3 with the new lights (Tesla likes to reuse components after all) and stalk for blinkers
Its honestly as simple as that. I can't stand SUVS personally so I don't care what little features extra the Y has, im always buying a 3 because i prefer sedans.
Yeah, the EV public is doing a big disservice by not admitting this. Love my model Y but EV in general are not ready for road trips. I just did a 10 hour drive and had to only stop once for gas/bathroom break in my ICE. If I took my Y I would probably have to stop over 5 times to charge
I agree, 400 miles is the magic number for me. We just replaced our 2018 M3 with a new one and about to embark on our first long distance trip. IT will be interesting to see how the range change is.
We drove back from Atlanta to Tennessee in or Model 3 this past weekend. 50% of the charge got us 180 miles. I kept it pretty close to the speed limit or up to 5 mph over for short periods. That puts it pretty close to the EPA estimate... temperature was in the in the high 60s F. I was disappointed in the 320+/- range, but if it's true range, that might not be too bad.
Many people, apparently.
How did it go?
Well, definitely a lot more range, the new 3 is much, much quieter and more sophisticated suspension taking bumps and pot holes in stride. Very pleasant to drive feeling more like a high end car should feel. I miss the fog lights in principal, but the new headlights are better overall. I liked the wood fascia treatment better than the felt in the new car. Overall build quality is very good. FSD is better in the new car probably partially due to the updates and partially due to the new computer etc. I will say that while FSD is very good, its not excellent still doing things that unnerve you a little. Generally a huge improvement. Getting used to the no stalks is just fine after a familiarity stage. The only real issue is driving our other car, a Y, is going back a forth with different controls but manageable.
