It's a bit of a hard sell to call it "New" it's more of a light refresh.
it actually looks a bit better than initial promo pics
Beautiful
First picture that I've actually liked it, looking forward to seeing one in person
[removed]
Not sure you're seeing to call this a light refresh
They don’t have that color for the US market. At least for now.
Its 100% a light refresh only if youre unfamiliar with the current version.. then I can understand that you believe this is the next gen model. This is no different then a iPhone 15 to 16. Incremental changes. 95% is the same.
IPhone 15 to 16 is basically the same phone. Doesnt even loon different. At least when I see the old and new y, it's very clearly different on the outside and especially the inside.
Actually looks really cool from that angle.
Looks great tbh!
[removed]
Insane take. Have you been in a Model 3 Highland?
Yes so much nicer in real life
It’s great.
I like it!
This is the best first look thought https://youtu.be/Ts9RycgZhpw?si=OTbVdSzPU2u3sh3c
Had the same first impression with the new Model S. I visited my Tesla Dealer and a customer appeared with his Full Black Model S Plaid. I was stunned, it looks like a Bad Mobil. Next day I had to order one, I never had the ambitions to get a Model S before
This is the 10th 1st look I’ve seen now 😂
From the best channel (Autogefuhl) : https://youtu.be/6qAq7vePCnM?si=E-tThpVRHhE7yp-x Very professional reviewer, 27 minutes
Interior just like a higher trim level from the outgoing model. Style wise its basically the same. Much of what has been added to the "New" Model Y would have been an option or standard with higher trim on most other cars in the same class. What its had added is: ventilated seats, powered rear seats, screen for the rear passengers and LED light bar, and that's about it. Its not enough, especially if it wants to compete in the Chinese market. It doesn't even have 360 cameras. It still doesn't have a powered tow hitch!
Sure buddy , it's not enough
Yeah this is a lot more different than what was previously shown.
[removed]
Many pictures here too. https://www.tek.no/nyheter/sniktitt/i/EyEXl5/tesla-model-y-2025
Is this quicksilver?
So a completely redone interior is 'just like a higher trim level'? Are you one of the people who acts like the new Model S and X are a light refresh even though amost every single part is new? Are powered tow hitches a common thing in small SUVs?
Same battery tech and pack sizes, same charging speeds, same motors, etc
Yes, even my 2017 Ford Kuga (Escape) had a retractable one. [Ford Kuga Retractable Tow Bar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afa-oqLmMkA)
Yes and it's really not a major change. People jizz on these minor updates. Btw I own a model y atm so its not like I don't love tesla.
Robocop
Another ledge in front of a thin, cold LED headlight. Snow will accumulate.
[removed]
In person confirmation there's a bumper camera. I'd be unhappy if I had bought a Highland.
Anyone see reviewers talk about suspension/ride quality?

I saw something about a camera retrofit, so it's possible it will be added to Model 3 as well. It's the only new Tesla car that doesn't have it now.
Because the angle they took the picture at doesn’t capture the egg shape 😂 The Model Y would look so much better if it wasn’t so tall but then it’s just a Model 3

Looks bad, and it's underwhelming, but I do think there are some small improvements under the hood.
Looks like a Prius
[removed]
The whole look reminds me of [G6 Xpeng](https://www.xpeng.com/g6) and a bit of the new Prius.
[removed]
Looks like the Chinese Geely Geometry E from the front.
I'm glad it's changing because it was kinda ugly before...
[removed]
I actually quite like it from the front. Just don’t love the rear light.

A Prius. Nice.
I like him, but he talks way too much till he gets to the point.
All of his videos need to be half the length.
Yeah, I'd want that and the indicator stalk retrofitted. I was going to replace my 2021 Model 3 with a new one, but I'm looking at the camera and the stalk and wondering if it's worth paying the extra for a Model Y even though I don't like SUVs. Perhaps I'll just extend the lease on my 2021 and hope the 3 gets those in the next 12 months.
Are light bars legal for city driving?
It is still mostly the same car and platform. Certainly not a full redesign and falls within what the auto industry would consider a refresh.

Yeah this is gonna be the first Tesla vehicle that's going to be a hard pass for me. Cybertruck was kind of a soft pass, as in I may get one used or I'll consider it if it drops to the price they promised at launch, but this Y just seems to have none of the Tesla charm. I see them moving to the Cybertruck design language, but it just looks generic instead of inspired. Angry looking headlights are kind of done and dusted. I do like the innovative rear light bar, but even that gives me evil, Kylo Ren, First Order vibes.
Man, the headlights remind me wayyy too much of modern Buick headlights. Kinda hate it ngl
[removed]
Looks dope! I will be trading in my 24Y later this year.
[removed]
Well that's kinda caused by physics. Prius and Tesla both try to be as aerodynamic as possible, obviously you end up in similar shapes
[removed]
i feel like same about photo angles for all teslas. For example, if you take a more top down photo in front of the model 3 it looks like a super sleek sports car. If you take a normal one from the side it looks like a basic family sedan. Optics lol.
Nice looking car with good reviews.
Looks like a BYD
The most sustainable thing you can do is keep driving your car as long as possible. Unless you're renting, don't trade up in less than a year...
The light bar being segmented and also misaligned is a huge turn off. Also the front lines don't match the side profile in any manner. This thing is hideous.
[deleted]
despite my feelings on the rear of this car, i'm glad that they at least tried to make it look different from the model 3 instead of just stretching it vertically
[removed]
Nothing special.
KIA
Prolific astroturfing campaigns.
Been waiting for that too. No driving reviews out yet, will be soon
It's kind of his whole thing to go through every detail. Plenty of other channels do shorter reviews but he found the niche of overly detailed
[removed]
Literally looks like a Hyundai Kona..
I don't hate it. If it rides better than my 22 Performance I'd think about getting one but I really doubt I'll get another Tesla.
The light bar and headlights are going to totally suck in snowy weather. But other than that, yes, this is a nice and much needed refresh.
Pretty generic KIA looking tbh, much prefer the current one
I really hate that they put the indicator stalk back in. That kinda confirms what every Highland user including myself knows, indicator buttons on the steering wheel was a bad choice.
Does it have the LFP battery like the new model 3's do ?
First look!
Well, maybe not literally under the hood
Looks like Elon took a bit of inspiration from those chinese EV’s we aren’t allowed to get at 30% of the price!
Actually the frunk compartment has a drain now, and a sealing gasket where it touches the hood, so yes, literally improvement under the hood. :D
So ugly
Agreed. Front light bars for me show a complete lack effort and personality in the design. I think it just makes the old model more attractive to me as a used purchase.
And a Prius doesn’t scream not-see mobile.
[removed]
Not a snowy weather resident. Why will it suck? Because you have to scrape the whole front?
sleeper
Looks like a Lucid to me
Leases are a thing
Same design as the Cybertruck. The light bar is recessed and blowing snow or sticky/ slushy snow sticks and collects, rendering it useless in storm conditions. The small headlights are the mostly the same. They’re flush with the surface but easily obscured. LEDs don’t generate any real heat, so can’t melt off snow and ice. That’s not a Tesla or EV problem, just a fact of LED lights …. But the design of Tesla’s light bar and headlights on the CT and now on the Y don’t do any favors and further complicates things. I get to see plenty of Cybertrucks pulled to the side of the highway or diving into gas stations to clear ice slush and snow from their lights. Just like the wipers on all their past and present cars, it’s obvious they never tested them in severe winter conditions. And don’t get me started on that big dumbass wiper on the CT. I know two people with broken CT wipers right now, one of them is my brother… And I say this lovingly as someone who has been a Tesla owner since 2014 and have owned an S, X and currently owns a Y….
[removed]
I like it the more times I see it for the first time!
Hmmmm.... thanks for the valuable intel, I'll keep it in mind going forward.
Nice prius
The light bar is not the headlights, they’re just day lights, the headlights are located below in the bumper.
Yes, I’m fully aware of that. I’m saying the design is flawed, both the headlights and light bar.
It no longer looks like a bloated Model 3. It has the stance of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the looks of the Hyundai Ioniq 7 and Tesla's world's best technology. The best of all worlds.
[removed]
Im not following what the big drama is if the snow sticks to the light bar, sorry
Sweet Xpeng, bro!
Nice Hyundai/Kia
Salesman car. Very corporate.
Fugly
The snow blocks the light limiting your vision. It’s a big thing up here in the North when you only have minimal amounts of daylight and need to see in the dark.
Prius looks way nicer
Looks better and better the more I see it
Ruined...
The light shining on the hood gives it a muscle car hood scoop effect. Can't decide if that improves it greatly or not lol
[deleted]
I like him too. I watched his review several times on my Volvo XC 90 hybrid in 2017 before buying. When I got the car, it took all the surprise out. I didn't get the new car feeling. Good and bad
I literally just saw another video from a different creator but he was in this exact same room looking at both exact models lol.
Man I don’t like it. I hope they don’t change the X to those style headlights.
Hey! Don't bogart all those first looks!
I've often wondered about that. Isn't FSD based on cameras?? How do they tackle this problem you brought up?
I was so looking forward to getting this as I pre-ordered, but, I'm a bit cautious after seeing all the complaints. I'm sure it's a great vehicle, but, new truck "kinks" need to be sorted out.
Really nice car, just wish they had dropped the barlight imo. Anyone else?
Magnificent!
Their family 4 doors are like sports cars and family cars all in one! Who else does that?
It’s nicer
These things are going to SELL
I really needed fog lights....
And that is why Rivian is patenting headlamps with built in heaters.
Not only do all teslas look the same they've looked the same for 10 years.
I don’t think there are any on road yet.
Watched the whole video, loved it. Crazy how quickly an hour goes by these days.
Why different redesign to model 3?
Supposed to start at $60k in the US
Nice that you liked it 😊👌
Are these batteries made in the USA?
Comes with a little hitler dashboard bobble head!
Damn it… it looks sexy
The back is the effed up part
Prius
Why would you trade a 2024 model Y you just got that. Sounds kinda wasteful.
Tata vibes...
BYD in the front Prius in the back
Lol first look...where have you been? These are already for sale.
Because I can and want to? Crazy how Reddit is just a bunch of financial consultants 😂
Looks too similar to the Mustang Mach E for me.
No this came out Friday in the U.K, I saw it Wednesday before launch
Wow that looks good
Yay! The new Xpeng!
Looks like a Kia.
Im disappointed with Juniper. This still basically the same car as the launch Model Y. Tesla has stopped pushing the envelope and are now selling appliances on 4 wheels.
The Tesla Juniper has been seen for half a year all over the place.
Out of spec went over it briefly: [https://youtu.be/Ts9RycgZhpw?si=4c\_LfYaBSjpn1rnS&t=2946](https://youtu.be/Ts9RycgZhpw?si=4c_LfYaBSjpn1rnS&t=2946)
Yes but not publically allowed to view it, sit inside it
Looks like a Hyundai
[deleted]
When you have a moment, go look up the manual release for a Model X's rear door.
I am too lazy but you can probably google a YouTube video showing the problem. Tl;dr light bar is like shelf, snow get stuck there, light emitted greatly reduced
The headlights are located under the light bar. They look well protected from snowy weather to me, and I'm in the NE.
Generic. Bland. Meh.
We don’t hear anything from most of the people who are not complaining.
Looks like Chinese knockoff now lol
Is that a Prius?
The headlights on the new Y seem like the biggest weakness. The actual headlights are nearly as low as the \*fog lights\* on the original Y. This is going to hurt visibility and range, and physics can't be overcome by mere engineering. Also, the snow issue mentioned, though these are daytime running lights and not the main photon source. Otherwise, I think it looks fine and will probably sell well just like vanilla ice cream, Audi Q5s, and RAV4s sell well.
It’s about as exciting as a washing machine.
Don’t hate it 🫤
Will not be buying a Tesla.
What is new or innovative about the new model Y?
Good looking car. Great for a family.
I wish his SO was in more videos.
Beaut. If you disagree, you’re like one of those ppl we don’t mention
I make sure to sell my used electric cars to Uber drivers so they get the most use out of it since they’ll be replacing an ICE vehicle. You’re not totally correct.
Agreed, last time I remember the new model Y was in 2020….it’s like 5 years old man 🙄
Looks like a Kia.
I would literally rock a 20 year old Pontiac Aztec before driving one of those shit boxes.
