Jeez that’s $75k USD, can almost get a cybertruck with that bread. Also <3 Taiwan :)

DuneProphecy 2025-01-11 21:58

Looks amazing

Ugh black. my m3p is black. Its nice too much of a pain to keep clean, so I just dont anymore. Next car anything but black. If you have time to keep it clean its top, if not go for a lighter color. QS or White or that new blue.

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-11 22:41

Nahhh , white or blue for sure

MyFaveLilThrowaway 2025-01-11 22:41

My same sentiments after owning over 8 black cars including a model 3. My X is red and it's such a change of lifestyle, especially if you're anal retentive about keeping your cars clean.

throwaway_891738 2025-01-11 22:47

Yeah i hate those silver rims

DrewTheVillan 2025-01-11 23:00

Reminds me of Uber. Idk why

Cantthinkofaname282 2025-01-11 23:01

Updated the lights but went back in time for the wheels Does not match the design at all

LionTigerWings 2025-01-11 23:06

This is why I think gunmetal or similar is the best. It hides dust and scratches pretty well.

scrotumseam 2025-01-11 23:28

Are they trying to copy generic cheap Chinese styling ?

MidnightEconomy 2025-01-11 23:36

Thing looks so cheap

Only $2.4MM

ridiculoususer46 2025-01-11 23:44

Really like the contrast that the light bar offers, but this is starting to look more and more like some type of cheap cab. Let’s hope ride quality has significantly improved.

Electrical_Quality_6 2025-01-12 00:09

Wow Tesla has outdone themselves. Seamlessly beautiful

dchup 2025-01-12 00:11

Who makes it ?

bally4pm 2025-01-12 00:12

What's it called?

Fun-Sundae4060 2025-01-12 00:17

That's almost exactly how much I paid for my M3LR with FSD in 2019 🤣

RocketRabbit315 2025-01-12 00:30

it took them 5 months to restock their black paint so only taiwan are getting that color

Vattaa 2025-01-12 00:31

So boring looking, looks like a BYD or some other nameless Chinese SUV.

_GrimFandango 2025-01-12 01:49

i'm waiting to see which one turns out better before purchasing in the US. The new Model Y or the Rivian R2

Fauglheim 2025-01-12 02:01

TELL US THE NAME

thisispete 2025-01-12 02:03

Tbh I’ve been holding off on ordering a MY waiting on Juniper, and after seeing the wheels (and no option to change yet) I can’t see myself ordering a launch edition. I know I could just order and replace the wheels, but without seeing Tesla Black wheels on the car it’s not worth the effort.

I want to reserve judgement on the refresh, buuuut first impressions are… not great. Smashing together design elements from the old Y, refreshed 3, and Cybertruck, along with different front/rear lightbar styles, makes for a very schizophrenic look

CHUCHUtrain20 2025-01-12 04:22

$74,000 USD? pricey

truthfuels 2025-01-12 04:32

Dude, just get the wheels powder coated any color of your choosing for $500-$800

KuroshioFox 2025-01-12 04:43

In Taiwan, Tesla only sells cars made in US or Germany. The product description indicates it will be delivered in 5-6 months. Since the current Model Ys in Taiwan are made in Germany, it likely indicates Berlin factory will start delivering the new Model Ys around May or June.

KuroshioFox 2025-01-12 04:45

This also suggests Berlin factory will start Juniper deliveries in May or June as chinese-made cars are not allowed to be imported into Taiwan, for good reason

judge2020 2025-01-12 04:54

R2 is looking really good, and it has SC access, although I personally don't like the frontend. The issue though is that the R2 will be 400V, and this Tesla probably also will be 400V and it isn't the movie to 800V in the US; i'd be pleasantly surprised if it was the first 800V non-CT Tesla. Tesla V4 cabinet SCs are getting 800V support soon, but it looks like only CT (and third party cars) will be able to take advantage of that for a long while, unfortunately. Meanwhile the Taycan is the king of road trips because of its 800V architecture that enables it to charge just so incredibly fast.

judge2020 2025-01-12 04:55

Given it came out in China first...

420Deez 2025-01-12 05:08

2 million bones is crazy

Cimexus 2025-01-12 05:10

Honestly white is almost as bad. The side is covered with little mud splatters every time it rains which show up tremendously obviously against white.

Different_Earth7782 2025-01-12 05:11

black m3 here the fine scratches are all over the place

SethSt7 2025-01-12 05:23

Yeah I wanted to know what it converted too and was surprised!

Maleficent_City6766 2025-01-12 07:28

Yes step 1 now rims !

mrporque 2025-01-12 08:00

Average that they kept the LR M3 wheels from a model ago on the new series

Gorn15 2025-01-12 09:10

Unimpressed they should have updated the batteries

shaheedmalik 2025-01-12 11:00

OkAmbassador8161 2025-01-12 11:18

Dude, seeing a detroit fan on another thread is always great, but seeing you left out "piston" on an ev subdued just lands. Go lions and ftp!

Ghost_Ess 2025-01-12 12:36

Very cool 😎

FatAssGoy 2025-01-12 13:02

It's so generic looking. The light bar is such a basic bitch move.

LionTigerWings 2025-01-12 13:57

I made this name 10 years ago, they were more irrelevant 10 years ago than now with their new coach who seems great. I could still hop on a bandwagon for basketball if I need to, but I’ll never be ride or die like I am for the lions and wings.

Maverick_1997 2025-01-12 14:23

“Schizophrenic” is a good way to describe it. I think I would have been okay with the cyber-esque lighting if they matched the quarter panels and doors thus changing the silhouette. Instead, they just mashed up 3 to 4 different generations of cars into one. I get the reasoning, so they can borrow parts between the M3 and MY for savings but it looks terrible IMO. I don’t get why they wouldn’t just leave the MY with the styling of the 2024 M3 which looks coherent IMO. Maybe would have been smarter for savings and borrowing parts between the two. And they could have just added a rear light bar to differentiate while using the existing parts/design. Kind of befuddling.

rainer_d 2025-01-12 15:24

I think with Tesla‘s black, you really need a ceramic coating. Else it will look dull in no time. I like my white.

Recoil42 2025-01-12 15:31

Grey and red are where it's at. Won't show scratches so easily, won't show dirt so easily.

OmfgTim 2025-01-12 15:44

I feel you. I had a black Wrangler and a bit of salt dust on the road dirties the car so easily. Never getting a black car again, even though it looks so good when it’s clean. That’s why I chose white!

Jimla 2025-01-12 17:35

lol this is not a serious opinion.

Fidget808 2025-01-12 18:54

Personally, I’m waiting for the R3. That’ll likely be my next car.

Supergeek13579 2025-01-12 19:56

800v isn’t doing anything to increase the charge curve. At a cell level the voltage is the same regardless of the pack voltage. The higher voltage just lets you push more energy through the cable to the pack. Tesla pushes considerably more amps than CCS, so 800v isn’t nearly as necessary. CCS is capped at 500 amps, where superchargers routinely hit 650 amps, with the cybertruck pulling 850 amps at a handful of existing stations, all at 400v. The Taycan has great charging due to its cell chemistry and cooling. If the Y could hold it’s current max current for the same duration the Taycan could it would also be a road trip monster, even at 400v

JennySplotz 2025-01-12 20:42

R2 isn’t in production until some time in ‘26.

doublebass120 2025-01-12 21:33

I’ve had silver cars since 2011, the color is great at hiding dirt and scratches. In fact, i haven’t washed my MX since august 2023.

reefine 2025-01-13 00:50

Not really comparable class vehicle though

Fidget808 2025-01-13 01:49

The R3 will have a similar size to the Y and starting price is supposed to be around $37,000. I’d say it’s in the same class of vehicle.

John-PA 2025-01-13 02:32

And perhaps to see of Rivian remains in business given it looses 39k per vehicle. And, no FSD!

Maplestori 2025-01-13 05:33

I bought my model 3 RWD for ~$161,000 USD, yes it sucks to love/ needing cars in Singapore

[deleted] 2025-01-13 07:07

Can't wait for the R2!!

Pointyspoon 2025-01-13 09:51

Same. I’ve always wanted a black car and after 6 years I’m ready to switch away since it gets dirty the moment after it’s washed!

edum18 2025-01-13 10:40

Wow I've never seen a car in black! Quality post.

Outrageous_Koala5381 2025-01-13 11:12

why would anyone pay for FSD when it was just a future promise, not proven? You must have money to burn!

Hotal 2025-01-13 15:01

I'm looking forward to the scout. I hope it lives up to the hype I have for it.

MarekKutaj 2025-01-13 15:07

It looks like the premium vehicle in uber app😆

Shamrocksff 2025-01-13 17:57

Totally agree. They look like older design.

Life-Conversation274 2025-01-14 04:01

ALL BLACK ERETHANG’

the_silent_sentinel 2025-01-14 05:05

This new Y is going to be a 45-62k vehicle like the old one was before the incentives came along. Definitely a price bracket up from a 37,000 dollar car.

bittabet 2025-01-15 05:56

This is going to really come down to whether you care about FSD more or cargo room/height more (unless you’re into off-roading).

_GrimFandango 2025-01-15 06:11

does rivian have the tesla autopilot? i'm not talking about small street fsd but the highway version. I use autopilot on the highway way more than full blown fsd.

Useful-Future-9680 2025-01-15 13:22

P=V*I, so 800V @ 500a is the equivalent of 400V @ 1000a. Just saying, voltage does matter. CCS is capable of greater power delivery until V4 cabinets start to roll out.

Vthead 2025-01-16 17:58

Congrats you made it look like a Prius

Ghosttje 2025-01-22 10:12

I am thinking about the new model Y vs the Polestar 3 (Europe).

Esquire1010 2025-03-21 15:24

Tesla opting for silver wheels is as uninspiring as sitting in freeway traffic.
