RIP squircle wheel. Jan 9th 2025 11am - Jan 9th 2025 7pm.

Bangaladore 2025-01-10 02:19

Quite possible its a NA only release.

ahhsumpossum 2025-01-10 02:20

I see a front bumper camera…

New-Monarchy 2025-01-10 02:20

Nah, that was just a highland photo with a custom wheel installed. This is how it'll look in NA 100%.

[deleted] 2025-01-10 02:20

Still means no drive-by-wire dream.

LegitPhoton 2025-01-10 02:29

The lights beneath the door, puddle lights? I like it.

JohnFlip 2025-01-10 02:40

Rear looks like the new Prius

TigglyWiggly95 2025-01-10 02:42

Looks alot better than the leaks to me

jwrig 2025-01-10 02:45

Don't they need 48v for drive by wire? If so, the refresh wouldn't ever get that.

sowaffled 2025-01-10 03:18

Really had the community buzzing about squircle which much mean steer by wire which must also mean 48v architecture.

mkd87 2025-01-10 03:19

It’s so ugly

OSUfan88 2025-01-10 03:19

Source: trust me

fanzakh 2025-01-10 03:20

Front is Chevy Equinox and rear is toyota/lexus like a hybrid of RZ and new prius. Will have to see the real thing but not too excited about it.

Bangaladore 2025-01-10 03:33

I'm not sure why that would be required... No reason they have to reuse Cybertruck parts.

Bangaladore 2025-01-10 03:34

Yeah, I don't see why they would make drive-by-wire NA only. Unless it was due to some regulation. But they do sell Cybertruck outside of NA, so presumably that's not the issue.

jwrig 2025-01-10 03:41

That's where their investement is. Telsa's whole mantra is to reuse as much as they can. Hell between the 3 and the Y it is something like 75% cross platform. It is highly unlikely they would redo the Y for 48v and not leverage the architecture they put on the cybertruck. It is why they are able to produce cars more efficently than other us automakers. So yeah, I guess they could come up with a new architecture for the Y during a refresh, but they wouldn't do it without a ground up refresh.

lazylittleboy 2025-01-10 03:43

That’s a nice looking Xpeng G6

Suitable_Switch5242 2025-01-10 03:46

The photo was definitely a Model 3, not a Model Y. No idea what the US release will have but the same as the rest of the world is a good bet.

creatinglake 2025-01-10 03:51

That is not what I am seeing, seems like it might only be 4% or 5% increase in range

Otto_the_Autopilot 2025-01-10 03:55

Yes, that's good.

[deleted] 2025-01-10 03:58

bittabet 2025-01-10 03:59

What is that new badge on there?

mlon_eusk12 2025-01-10 04:01

The design choice was definitely to combine current Tesla with Cybercab/CT, almost like they're transitioning the whole brand into the 'cyber' style.

Tesla_RoxboroNC 2025-01-10 04:06

Damn... about time. Looks so good. i may trade my 2023 M3P in.

SlteFool 2025-01-10 04:09

I like

Chrome_Denim3367 2025-01-10 04:16

Sleeeeeeek. And sharp.

cest_va_bien 2025-01-10 04:28

Definitely a step back in most places and it’s crazy they don’t make a bigger version.

IntelligentCompany83 2025-01-10 04:30

holy moly a front bumper camera

oliphant428 2025-01-10 04:37

Where did “Opal” come from?

KieferSutherland 2025-01-10 04:40

I need a Tesla Y-van so badly.

mjezzi 2025-01-10 04:44

They should have updated the door handles look too. It doesn’t fit well anymore.

mjezzi 2025-01-10 04:45

I’m sure all the upgrades are awesome, but looks wise, I’m happy with my current Y.

DelosHost 2025-01-10 04:53

Why oh why Tesla insists on these light headliners? At least on the Performance models it should be black.

KHT6789 2025-01-10 05:19

The back is 🔥, the front will grown on me I’m sure lol but I’m enjoying my ‘22 for now.

mistsoalar 2025-01-10 05:20

I think official photos are almost always so. Regardless of the brand/model.

_f1sh 2025-01-10 05:20

Agreed, the thin front light bar and the chunky rear light bar dont seem to mesh well imo

kalebludlow 2025-01-10 05:22

75% is a good estimate, the 'official' percentage of shared parts is 76%

gymcccc 2025-01-10 05:53

Seems like it’s a limited edition add on. Matches the badge on the back

bike_tyson 2025-01-10 05:57

I love it. I think it’s beautiful

Mrrobotico0 2025-01-10 05:58

It’s a yawn. I wasn’t expecting anything super different but meh.

DyZ814 2025-01-10 05:59

Shit looks like an Ioniq

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-01-10 06:26

It’s a bold move cotton

9thArrow 2025-01-10 06:39

I don't understand why they didn't make the lighbar thicker and continuous like the cybertruck/cab instead of having breaks. Very small, but deal breaking flaw. This wayIt looks like a chinese knockoff

[deleted] 2025-01-10 07:16

I will wait for the new MYP before I consider a change. My 22 MYP (2023 model delivered in December 22) is an awesome car, and I would not step down to a Long Range if that is what they release first. However, I am curious how they will differentiate it in the front.. on the Model 3 they have some changes to the bumper, but on the Model Y those aero slots on the sides are present on all configurations. Probably why we do not see such a big range bump (only about 3% increase). I am sure the MYP will get the same changes elsewhere though.. adaptive dampers, new seats etc.

Euro_Snob 2025-01-10 07:22

Launch badge

Iremain8924 2025-01-10 07:55

It’s the “Launch” edition that comes with acceleration boost

xMETRIIK 2025-01-10 08:09

Every crossover suv is boring. Even the Urus is boring.

Yummy_Mushroom6688 2025-01-10 08:09

This looks nice

xMETRIIK 2025-01-10 08:16

Way better than current Model Y. They always seemed a little deformed. This one is more refined. It would look better if the front light bar was solid and thicker like cybertruck though.

Total-Confusion-9198 2025-01-10 08:19

Most likely that’s the demographics they are targeting

viz_tastic 2025-01-10 08:20

Go to the Tesla China site and you’ll see more.  Looks amazing!!!! Industry best.

rkraptor70 2025-01-10 08:37

Looks weirdly Chinese.

Electrical_Quality_6 2025-01-10 08:49

Future is here WOW

parental92 2025-01-10 08:54

Looks like Ai generated Porsche Macan https://preview.redd.it/soc0odxsr4ce1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb5b84968867b78e726ca5c6321601ed68871b41

sanctimoniousfsck 2025-01-10 08:55

Where are the actual headlights? Looks like they are in the lower housing? A la Cybertruck?

n05h 2025-01-10 08:57

Is the first picture a new colour?

1corn 2025-01-10 09:02

Overall I like it, but yeah, it's obvious who they've identified as their main competition. Colors are very dull, though. As often with Tesla.

_CptFoxy_ 2025-01-10 09:06

At least the headlights aren’t ugly

[deleted] 2025-01-10 09:07

It has the same front bumper intake things as the Highland M3P, I wonder if those are only temporary for the launch edition and will be afterwards exclusive to the future MYP.

Shaper_pmp 2025-01-10 09:11

It doesn't look as bad as the earlier low-res leaks made it look, but it's still not great. Tesla had a great curved, sleek-looking design language even for larger cars like the Model X that made them look smaller than they were outside and surprisingly spacious inside. This looks like they're trying to Cybertruck-ify their future designs, but while the CT was a bold (and *arguably* not unattractive) move, I don't think it's a good look for the future of Tesla, or that it marries well with their existing look the way they're trying to here.

Competitive_Sock3956 2025-01-10 09:14

I don't like the changes, seems derivative of other brands but I will likely still try one. I'm put off a bit by the reports of safety being less of a concern and the crash testing results. It's very unlikely a collision occurs but I, and maybe I'm paranoid, want the safest vehicle for my family.

redfoxhound503 2025-01-10 09:21

I really like the front bumper air vent below the lights. I hope they make it functional like the previous model.

kalebludlow 2025-01-10 09:28

Uhh you good? Just thought they did a good job at guessing, but you do you, stay outraged 🤙 Edit: found a quick reference to the stat on Wikipedia, which is why I put 'official' in quotes because I didn't vet the reference

W-001 2025-01-10 09:43

Here is the one which will replace my 22 MY.

RocketRabbit315 2025-01-10 09:53

the new model 3 is still the sexiest among all model tbh also that glacier blue idk why it feel a lot like byd dolphin ngl but not other color

FederalCyclist 2025-01-10 10:09

It also showed up on first 2024 M3 photos and then got removed. It is not mentioned in the specification. I'm sceptical.

ryzenguy111 2025-01-10 10:30

you can see in the new images, the Y has a different style door card with a metal speaker and cloth trim that wasn’t present on the “leak”

Low-Possibility-7060 2025-01-10 10:31

Yep. Model Y never looked good but this new one is really ugly.

Low-Possibility-7060 2025-01-10 10:32

I think the front is even worse but also looks like a Prius.

Low-Possibility-7060 2025-01-10 10:33

Could say Toyota or BYD on the hood as well

Low-Possibility-7060 2025-01-10 10:34

I think the only Tesla that looks good is the Model S.

No_Ambition6329 2025-01-10 10:40

Highland updates would have looked much better, this is an abomination.

Maverick_1997 2025-01-10 10:52

I like the light bar on the truck and to me the Model Y looks like a new Hyundai Sonata or a BYD or something. Not a fan of the look. Glad I got a 2024 Model 3.

bme11 2025-01-10 11:19

Came into a Tesla subreddit just to post this?

ObeseSnake 2025-01-10 11:21

Yes and this is just the first step. Go back to October and look at the Cybercab and Robovan for more design cues coming into other models.

ishamm 2025-01-10 11:32

More like they combined Y, roadster and cybercab

farfromelite 2025-01-10 11:44

The inside looks really bare and cheap. Not sure if I like that at all.

lowspeed 2025-01-10 12:00

It is mentioned

[deleted] 2025-01-10 12:02

i think it looks like the ioniq

[deleted] 2025-01-10 12:10

Reminds me of a Hyundai

short_bus_genius 2025-01-10 12:19

But I don’t see stalks in that interior photo.

short_bus_genius 2025-01-10 12:21

Hah, I have the opposite thinking. I think the front looks better than the rear.

short_bus_genius 2025-01-10 12:24

Wonder if there is an option to make the front light bar swoosh back and forth like KITT in knight rider? Wong wong

TimTom8321 2025-01-10 12:52

I always feel that it's better to have either a front light bar or a back one. Having both seems a bit cheap imo, idk why, while one of them makes it feel more futuristic. Though this rear view just feels...plain, idk. Seems a bit like there's not enough details, and way too many lines with no turns or even breaks maybe. Prefer the model 3's new rear by a lot for now.

grim-432 2025-01-10 13:03

Waiting for a plaid or ludicrous variant….

ridlerontheroof 2025-01-10 13:09

I’m not a fan of the front end and its light bar, but think the way they designed the rear light bar is interesting in the way that it projects down onto the truck vs outward. Kinda cool that it illuminates the TESLA logo.

Balance- 2025-01-10 13:09

I hate it. Give me more Roadster vibes.

adeadfetus 2025-01-10 13:59

ARCHA1C 2025-01-10 14:25

Kinda bummed that the new design looks so utilitarian, doing away with any of the “sleek” or “graceful” lines the previous design had up front. But the rear is very ugly IMO. Very reminiscent of recent Buick/Cadillac/Dodge models.

puffyjacket85 2025-01-10 14:33

deal breaking flaw is pretty dramatic

arbitraryhubris 2025-01-10 14:45

That lighter metal blue is not available using the USA configurator. Of course I want it.

matt11126 2025-01-10 14:46

Reminds me a little too much of the dodge hornet and a Nissan Aryia. The interior is very nice though, the exterior ? Not so much, the round body doesn't really work for the light bars. It would have to be more boxy to look better.

matt11126 2025-01-10 14:48

Don't forget that it also looks like a Dodge hornet and Nissan Aryia. It's as if the Pontiac Aztec, dodge hornet and the Nissan Aryia had somehow given birth to the new MY, and to be fair in my opinion that's not the family you want to be a part of.

Ceramicrabbit 2025-01-10 14:56

I hope they don't change the design of the Roadster

babymanteenboy 2025-01-10 15:06

It has a turn signal stalk! just no drive selector stalk

KamilKiri 2025-01-10 15:07

Will there be performance version of it?

_father_time 2025-01-10 15:10

Exactly. The whole lineup is trending towards super futuristic design language.

Voidfaller 2025-01-10 15:13

Why does this give me a slight resemblance to the Kia ev6 nose almost kind of… not a direct match of course… but I can’t unsee it now! Aggghhh 😭

SoonerMockingbird 2025-01-10 15:37

The rear looks like a Toyota

23_KFJ 2025-01-10 15:43

Dumb question but do we know when they'll release it to the European market?

ClumpOfCheese 2025-01-10 15:46

The issue I have with both the 3 and Y refresh is that they really just shoved new front and rear end designs onto the car without changing anything else. So you have more sharp edges with the new design while the rest of the body has more of a round froggy vibe. It really does just look like two cars smashed together and seems lazy.

Maverick_1997 2025-01-10 15:49

I agree. Like it might be me mentally not liking the front but I think the half new half old works on the Model 3 and the half new half old on the Model Y sticks out a little more. I think it’s because it looks so much sharper yet has an even larger bulbous appearance than the Model 3 and previous Model Y.

omniblastomni 2025-01-10 15:49

Are the lights going to be an issue in snow? I’ve seen some issues with people and their cyber truck where their lights are blocked by the falling snow that has settled on the bumper. I hope this isn’t the case. I like the overall design and aesthetic of the vehicle.

[deleted] 2025-01-10 15:50

dynamite647 2025-01-10 15:54

I see a front facing camera

LordThurmanMerman 2025-01-10 16:14

Same. I actually don’t have a problem with the front end, but the rear light bar and how they tried to integrate it into the Highland’s crab claw style taillights looks like an Hanshow mod. This is a refresh not a redesign. Unfortunately it’s almost exactly what I expected it to be.

rustybeancake 2025-01-10 16:23

Kona to me

fractal_disarray 2025-01-10 16:24

Looks pretty good. Now get rid of the glass roof and make a full hard top.

G00G00Daddy 2025-01-10 16:25

So I'm still in the "meh" stage, but it's growing on me. I actually worked on the F150 in the 90's when Ford went from rectangle to rounded fronts and it was the same thing about just the front changing. It looked HORRIBLE for so long until you got used to it. Then one day it just seemed like it was meant to be. I wonder if this will be the same.

octobergod31 2025-01-10 16:27

🐏

anauditorNTX 2025-01-10 16:42

Nice update! Won’t be getting one though. I plan on holding on to our current one until Elon relinquishes control of the Company.

lucasPAD 2025-01-10 16:45

Wait, am I the only one who noticed the exorbitant cost of the car? 85k+? Are you serious?

finalzero00 2025-01-10 16:51

Puddle lights...yet on my 2022 Model S I still can't find them, not even aftermarket

Toastybunzz 2025-01-10 16:52

It looks good, somehow more balanced than the old design even though the overall shape is the same.

gaggzi 2025-01-10 16:53

Looks like any random Chinese EV

short_bus_genius 2025-01-10 16:55

Oooooh. Wisdom of Solomon splitting the baby…

acj21 2025-01-10 16:56

Surprised they are going BACK to the helix style wheels. They feel outdated.

FreezaSama 2025-01-10 16:58

Looks kinda cheap... maybe it's way better in person!

Aklagarn 2025-01-10 16:58

Looks like any generic China car

moonisflat 2025-01-10 17:23

Looks like every other EV out there, with the light bar.

ducks2024 2025-01-10 17:24

It's decent but not "I need one right now" kind of redesign.

ducks2024 2025-01-10 17:26

Easy tiger

ducks2024 2025-01-10 17:29

Without seeing it in person yet, no way I trade in my 2024 MYP I paid 42K for (0.9%). Will be really hard to beat.

cadium 2025-01-10 17:52

This is what it looks like in reality via the Chinese regulator: [https://x.com/tcm1907/status/1877699864609362264](https://x.com/tcm1907/status/1877699864609362264)

Dr_Pepper1984 2025-01-10 17:57

I’d buy it if I needed a new car, like the quicksilver and white paint jobs the best with the silver rims

moxifloxacin 2025-01-10 18:12

Are the headlights and bar slightly recessed like the CT? because that's a terrible decision for anyplace with snow.

SpectroBR 2025-01-10 18:14

48V due to power requirements of the dual-motor steering system, per the Jason Cammisa review.

Bangaladore 2025-01-10 18:17

[deleted] 2025-01-10 18:32

the light bar is getting hideous by now

HERO1NFATHER 2025-01-10 18:53

Lol idk why people thought stalks would come back 😂

oxyscotty 2025-01-10 19:17

The front lightbar is fine, but I'm just not a fan of that rear lightbar at all.. I kind of like them on the rivians, however for whatever reason it just looks like a cyclops from the rear on this car.. ugly. It also doesn't help that it feels like they're just copying rivians homework.

Unencrypted_Thoughts 2025-01-10 19:21

Not sure how I feel about the squircle without steer by wire. I hate the yoke so much but the CT drives like a dream.

itsfirat 2025-01-10 19:21

Who else thinks this looks awful?

miraculum_one 2025-01-10 20:03

other cars have it so it's not because of regulations

ClumpOfCheese 2025-01-10 20:24

Yeah people adjust to everything, my complaint is that it’s just a half assed refresh.

soapinmouth 2025-01-10 20:26

Yeah.. I like the front, not so much the back.

soapinmouth 2025-01-10 20:27

New roadster is imo

whykae 2025-01-10 20:35

NGL, I love it. I'm going to get one.

bareyb 2025-01-10 20:37

Front and rear lights look better, the rest looks about the same.

AngleWise8019 2025-01-10 21:51

the wow is gone... just a tiny facelift. stick to my MYP with USS :-)

FeresM 2025-01-10 22:13

I'm getting budget Lucid Air vibes

godnorazi 2025-01-11 00:22

Too many other cars doing the light-bar... Rivian, Lucid, Prius, etc that its already looking dated

Groundbreaking_Box75 2025-01-11 00:27

USA configurator? It’s not out in the US, you must be looking at the current MY for North America

arbitraryhubris 2025-01-11 00:53

You’re right. I looked at the Hong Kong store, saw the glacier blue. The USA configurator was the current model Y as you figured

gvincejr 2025-01-11 01:01

Starting to look like Lucid

edchikel1 2025-01-11 01:34

So, interior remained the same? 🤣🤣

fanzakh 2025-01-11 01:53

If they are, they better bring out something "better" than the existing designs. This hardly is better.

viz_tastic 2025-01-11 02:25

Rawwwrrr!!!! How is it so sexy!?!?

Guygenist 2025-01-11 02:33

Talking about real cars

blueridgeblah 2025-01-11 03:16

This is like the design trends on HGTV, all cars are starting to look the same… still going to order one in glacier blue 😂

nemagele 2025-01-11 03:37

Totally right.. this was my first thought as well.. now it looks like a Citroen or a generic Chinese car Also - not sleek and stylish like it should be, but with too many elements at the back

forte-exe 2025-01-11 03:39

Is the badge for a performance model that is not yet on sale?

forte-exe 2025-01-11 03:40

Model 3 looks better and more roadster vibe than the new Y

handsebe 2025-01-11 03:46

Looks nice. Now they just need to open up for black interior roof.

forte-exe 2025-01-11 03:57

What is the badge? For performance model not sold? What is it called?

Its-all-downhill-80 2025-01-11 05:19

Let’s see how it plays out

Turbo0021 2025-01-11 07:21

Ugly

Wish they could have shrunk this huge center console especially by the knees. The center console by the knees should ideally be at least flush with the seat or below the seat to allow for knees to extend over the center console instead of of smashing against the hard plastic.\ \ It's not as bad as some car companies but it's still too large if you have longer legs like myself.

RocketRabbit315 2025-01-11 12:50

all of them looks good but the new 3 is the sexiest

Low-Possibility-7060 2025-01-11 13:09

I was kind of excited when I saw images of the headlights and then they ruined the front with this moronic grin on the front bumper.

[deleted] 2025-01-11 15:18

I like it

No_Daikon_370 2025-01-11 21:22

I was like it’s reminding me of something…The rear is exactly as Prius 2024!

jojo_31 2025-01-11 21:30

Rear lights also give Prius vibes. Good thing tho, the new one looks great.

jojo_31 2025-01-11 21:31

I don't hate it, it just looks very generic. Front end looks chinese.

ocluxrealtor 2025-01-11 22:17

They kept the old seats with no ventilation?!

The design looks less sharp / exciting than Model 3 Model 3 is definitely better looking vs Y now

FarGuess8654 2025-01-12 17:00

Looks like a copy of Xpeng P7... ![img](emote|t5_2s3j5|7851)

FarGuess8654 2025-01-12 17:01

Shameless copy of Xpeng P7...

FarGuess8654 2025-01-12 17:02

More like a copy of Xpeng P7.

RenePro 2025-01-12 17:41

Looks ugly to the honest. Wtf is that back light bar. Looks like a third party accessory that shouldn't be there.

uppishduck 2025-01-12 18:37

It’s a Highland performance in quicksilver, with white leather for me 🤤

The_Right_Mike 2025-01-12 21:49

Looks like my 5th gen Prius

calvitiepento 2025-01-13 08:24

Look like a chinese car. And those curve with agressive headlight….

Exact-Arm-8472 2025-01-13 09:24

Apparently this is how it looks with the new blue color. Thoughts? https://preview.redd.it/jaazqxywbqce1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a77681f33c8378c7f13763e24d5c7e91f2f1cedb

where performance model at

TOCNYSHB 2025-01-16 17:17

I guess I see some relation to the CT, but I'm seeing more of picking up other makers' design cues. Very sleek front end with the full width lights. Same for the rear. Very clean and nice.

TOCNYSHB 2025-01-16 17:26

Tesla should really give no-charge options for the wheel. I'll take the yoke every time. Not so sure about the squircle. Definitely not regressing to the circle.

Specialist-Yam2894 2025-01-16 20:34

I was very excited to hear of all the upgrades I'll get when I trade my 2022 Y, but they Stopped Making the Royal-Blue color, and that killed all the enthusiasm I had about it. So, now I'll wait until 2026 to see if they'll bring it back.

idragon4ever 2025-01-16 22:31

I like the front not so much the rear. The interior is a nice upgrade, but I’m happy with my 2025 Model Y.

Grouchy_Ice_8342 2025-01-16 22:56

I like it. I know it's not to everyone's liking, but I do like it.

geeaah123 2025-01-17 06:19

Can anyone explain what the paint protection film as an accessory actually is.

[deleted] 2025-01-20 14:47

Agreed, I initially thought it looked like a Hyundai...not a good look.

[deleted] 2025-01-20 19:08

Today you can't really say Chinese knockoff like 10 years ago. Now it's more like American or should I say western knockoff.

Public-Benefit8093 2025-01-25 16:35

Is it only me or this looks too much like the BYD SUV?
