That will certainly help for self parking. My hw3 is pretty awesome at backing into parking spaces, hopefully this will make new ones just as good at front parking

mflboys 2025-01-10 02:15

Here is a screenshot of the same thing from the initial Highland release. These promotional images can not be trusted. https://preview.redd.it/tbf5jvkks2ce1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36e52d48e6f240e8728772eafb9d71c4133fdd86

One_Assistance487 2025-01-10 02:18

The Chinese site explicitly state that it has a front view camera so this is legit https://preview.redd.it/chjruj2at2ce1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ed40f847a40391a700f77cc3ae6c395c85a4ed4 Edit: link to other comment in this thread [https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/s/cAgjtXL8a9](https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/s/cAgjtXL8a9)

Cecisneros 2025-01-10 02:23

No they can not. Refresh model S was advertised to come with tilting screen and Steam app but mine came with neither. I was an early adopter. They didn’t introduce it until the end of the year I believe

JoeS830 2025-01-10 02:24

Next up: motorized frunk please!

thnok 2025-01-10 02:35

It’s clear on glacier blue promo images that there is something https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/ee29USn5cw

DaKelster 2025-01-10 02:39

I wonder if they might include a HUD this time?

[deleted] 2025-01-10 02:49

[removed]

[deleted] 2025-01-10 02:56

They won’t

One_Assistance487 2025-01-10 03:00

I don’t see a reason promoting that if it’s just referring to the windshield one tho. Edit: all these downvotes. Sure, just believe what you want to believe man

DuneProphecy 2025-01-10 03:05

The official China site specifically says new Model Y has front camera.

fragileblink 2025-01-10 03:09

360 parking camera view would be nice

007meow 2025-01-10 03:22

Bumper can helps, but I don’t think that’s enough for full 360. There’s a bit of a blind spot between the repeaters and rear camera. HW4 may be different though

SDK9 2025-01-10 03:29

It's about time, I hate not having 360 view in 2025 when a Kia offers it.

WalrusOk2896 2025-01-10 03:34

Yup I remember this. The website also says “front facing camera”, which can easily mean the cabin camera. I personally hope it does have it. For an SUV / family car, it’s needed

SleepyPon 2025-01-10 03:34

For this logo, it's the Tesla Vision, the one in wiendshield

Torczyner 2025-01-10 03:40

The current vision gives a nice 360 view.

[deleted] 2025-01-10 03:53

Already has that feature

SufficientSwim141 2025-01-10 03:56

We can keep dreaming :,)

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-10 04:10

It literally says on the Tesla official website there is a new camera and why 😂 there's definitely a front camera https://preview.redd.it/nsdj2nx1d3ce1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18464bf1334cb0a1723bf6e2f044e68a205cbd6a [incase you don't believe it see for yourself 😂](https://www.tesla.cn/modely)

ShirBlackspots 2025-01-10 04:13

I actually like the design of the front and rear. its more modern and futuristic.

SpiritualTop6261 2025-01-10 04:15

you’ll also be able to spray it with windshield fluid, also the car won’t have the Front T badge. motorized rear seats, back seat display

Icy-Garlic7552 2025-01-10 04:19

Looks like a Kia lol

fragileblink 2025-01-10 04:32

Really? I haven't seen the top down (bird's eye) view yet.

EvoXOhio 2025-01-10 04:36

That could mean the normal windshield camera

comfybonfire 2025-01-10 04:54

I could see that being a feature exclusive to model X and S

lawlietskyy 2025-01-10 04:57

tarahumara 2025-01-10 05:03

They've added that feature to Y now. Check out the videos on Tesla website

CorgiTitan 2025-01-10 05:05

Like the 2 front facing cameras that are already in the windshield? I don’t think this is the confirmation you thought it was

BlurryEcho 2025-01-10 05:05

The windshield camera is a front-view camera, buddy.

tarahumara 2025-01-10 05:05

They can't do 360 view with current camera setup even with front bumper camera. Still has blind spots. No camera can see the front tyres or front fenders.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-10 05:05

It has a front bumper camera. Just like cyber taxi and cyber truck. Front bumper camera is needed for FSD.

CorgiTitan 2025-01-10 05:06

Did everyone conveniently forget that the windshield has 2 existing front facing cameras? Let’s wait till someone has the new car

Cool-Newspaper-1 2025-01-10 05:07

What proof? Teslas have had three different front facing cameras for a while now.

BlurryEcho 2025-01-10 05:07

And unsupervised FSD should be here any day, right?

Cool-Newspaper-1 2025-01-10 05:07

3*

CorgiTitan 2025-01-10 05:08

Hardware 3 = 3 cameras Hardware 4 = 2 cameras

BlurryEcho 2025-01-10 05:15

Clearly none of you were paying attention when Tesla announced the Model 3 refresh and then promptly removed promotional images with the front bumper camera. And a lot of you seem to fail to grasp that front-view camera is ambiguous. Not saying it isn’t possible, but I wouldn’t have my hopes up until the first delivery takes place.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-10 05:16

The marketing video has an up close view of bumper camera.

lawlietskyy 2025-01-10 05:17

Yeah true

comfybonfire 2025-01-10 05:18

which video shows the motorized frunk? I don’t see that anywhere

gentlecrab 2025-01-10 05:19

That says 'provides a wider field of vision'. How does a camera recessed into the bumper provide a wider field of vision? Maybe it's added to the test vehicles to validate what the standard production cameras are seeing like potholes and speed bumps.

shellacr 2025-01-10 05:20

It’s promoting that the windshield camera now has a wider FOV.

tarahumara 2025-01-10 05:20

https://preview.redd.it/yzuz0a7pp3ce1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5067ae97a97154c89a81a0e76492b6ee921212f

comfybonfire 2025-01-10 05:22

That looks like an indicator to remind you to close the frunk. If that was a button, then it’d replace the “Open Frunk” option (similar to the motorized trunk) Also there’s no mention of a motorized frunk in the press release, it would have been there if this was a feature. They advertised the motorized rear seats for example

tarahumara 2025-01-10 05:23

We will see then i guess

sags95 2025-01-10 05:38

Yeah if it motorized then it would be the same button to close it, just like the trunk...

ChunkyThePotato 2025-01-10 05:41

> Front bumper camera is needed for FSD. You just made that up.

Matt-Head 2025-01-10 05:53

false, i checked: it shows them clicking open on the screen. Animation shows the frunk opening, exactly as it shows now. There is no "close" button appearing on the screen which means you'll have to close manually. There even appears a reminder to do that in the video [https://www.tesla.com/en\_hk/modely](https://www.tesla.com/en_hk/modely) scroll down to where it says "expansive storage"

HazardousHD 2025-01-10 06:17

Nearly the same front end as the cybercab

MutableLambda 2025-01-10 06:25

I wonder if they changed the B-pillar cameras orientation like it's done in cybercab (for better forward visibility)

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-10 07:08

It literally shows new camera in the front of the car in the website 💀

Hardware 6 = 2 eyes

Flaky-Character-9383 2025-01-10 07:55

No. There is no 360 camera view in Teslas.

AggravatingEbb6436 2025-01-10 09:53

Stop stealing Lucid designs

taney71 2025-01-10 10:56

This is the right take as it reserves judgment until the new extra camera is confirmed

710rosingodtier 2025-01-10 11:01

The Cybertruck doesn’t use the front bumper camera for FSD

710rosingodtier 2025-01-10 11:03

You can see the standard looking struts that wouldn’t support the ability to automatically close in the press release photos

Shoddy_Fixer 2025-01-10 11:12

Front bumper camera mentioned in the AU/New Zealand press release - timestamp 5:06 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LegePE9hb0Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LegePE9hb0Q) u/

Brick_Waste 2025-01-10 11:38

It had that for the highland as well

Linkzoom 2025-01-10 12:08

Hardware 7 = 1 eye and 1 eye patch

fish6k 2025-01-10 12:11

Ah yes, the forever dirty camera.

Brian1961Silver 2025-01-10 12:20

Yet...

Brian1961Silver 2025-01-10 12:23

The new 3D parking visualization is better than 360 top down or birds-eye view IMHO. You can rotate and zoom the view to see your proximity to objects around you.

Lucky_Chaarmss 2025-01-10 12:35

I like it also.

amcint304 2025-01-10 12:57

How about no? One less thing to break over time.

TimTom8321 2025-01-10 12:58

Yeah, do people who want bird-eye-view even tried the parking visualizations? They are awesome and actually really accurate according to AI DRIVR's video testing it. It only can forget (at least what was then, idk if they fixed it) when you get too close and a bit change the shape, but it's fixable (again, if not fixed already) and personally I really like it.

EvoXOhio 2025-01-10 13:20

The windshield camera is a front view camera

fragileblink 2025-01-10 13:23

I need the ground marking lines. Objects I can generally already see.

4kVHS 2025-01-10 13:41

Yeah let’s go back cranks for the windows too. One less thing to break over time. /s

amcint304 2025-01-10 13:42

What’s more mechanically complex?

4kVHS 2025-01-10 13:43

Crank window works when the battery goes dead. No motors to fail.

SDK9 2025-01-10 15:04

That's an interesting point, I assumed they had a camera looking forward from the b pillar that they just didn't show in the UI. But if not, that would be disappointing.

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-10 15:16

That's different though... there's no text for it but ok lol. They would have to literally remove an entire section from the website to remove the camera

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-10 15:17

Must be all of the recent buyers who just couldn't wait salty they don't have a front camera that's down voting 😂

hkimkmz 2025-01-10 15:43

Cybertruck has it already

Tupcek 2025-01-10 16:33

you do see that in 3D visualization. It’s even better than 360 camera, because cameras are very distorted where two cameras merge.

rwrife 2025-01-10 17:10

I hope this is there and I assume it's for cross traffic, I don't get why they don't move the repeater cameras all the way to where the headlights are and make them 180 degree field of view, that would allow the car to see around the vehicle better when pulling out into traffic.

fragileblink 2025-01-10 17:22

Interesting! I will test it out next time I am over at Tesla for service.

VideoGameJumanji 2025-01-10 18:52

Stop spamming this everywhere, you’ve already been corrected that this doesn’t mean a bumper camera lmao

VideoGameJumanji 2025-01-10 18:52

Not yet either, they’ve never talked about any need for a bumper camera

DuneProphecy 2025-01-10 19:00

There are multiple marketing videos with clear view of bumper camera. You are in denial if you think juniper model Y does not have it. If Tesla has always had a dash cam why would they specifically say front view camera if nothing has changed? This car definitely has a new bumper camera. The dash cam location sucks, it can't see around corners. That's why they added bumper camera and it specifically mentions wide angle. This was a huge miss and glad they finally added it. Model 3 will get it eventually also.

VideoGameJumanji 2025-01-10 19:11

One of the front cameras is a wide angle camera that’s why it says that, cmon now. Again, multiple people have already pointed out that blurb is not for any unconfirmed bumper camera, so you are still wrong with the spam. FSD performs fine already, that’s why we don’t have crashes every 5 seconds. If it needed a bumper camera  1) they would have brought it up by now 2) they would have put in the refresh 3 The marketing and preorder page for the 2024 M3 also had the same cutout for a camera visible but ended up never being a thing in any version.

w4y 2025-01-10 19:18

Front cameras are usually not as dirty as rear cameras

nah_you_good 2025-01-10 19:20

Even then they changed their mind a year or so later and stopped putting the steam hardware in right? So basically need to buy within a ~1 year period

fish6k 2025-01-10 20:34

Some rear cameras have jet cleaners tho

robotpedlr 2025-01-10 21:18

Hardware 8 = White Cane and service dog

genuinefaker 2025-01-10 21:21

Is it possible to see (or know) how close you are to a fence? I can see that currently with my car with a 360 camera within about 2 inches.

genuinefaker 2025-01-10 21:43

Is there a particular video that you can direct me to? I am wondering how accurately and precise the visualizations are. My parking spot is tricky, and I manage that right now with a 360 camera that allows me to see probably within 2 inches of a fence. Distortion is not a problem in my case.

Brian1961Silver 2025-01-10 21:58

2" is pretty tough to say. 6" definitely. Can you see this obstacle in your physical mirrors?

TooMuchTaurine 2025-01-10 22:32

Not sure why they would just list the front cameras as "enhanced" and not mention the other 6 cameras. I think they added it. We know they did for the cyber cab and cyber truck already..

CorgiTitan 2025-01-10 22:53

What do we gain with speculation?

godnorazi 2025-01-11 00:24

The cars I have seen with really good 360 views have cameras mounted under the side mirrors as well.

Caecilius_en_Horto 2025-01-11 01:40

lol you clearly don’t own one

Caecilius_en_Horto 2025-01-11 01:42

Lmao whose mind actually thinks like this

Caecilius_en_Horto 2025-01-11 01:46

Lmao the downvotes indicate that “believe what you want to believe” applies most to you

TooMuchTaurine 2025-01-11 04:07

I was hoping they would finally do something about VTG or at least VTL like nearly all other EV's have. Shame.

deten 2025-01-11 05:34

I didn't think X had a motorized frunk either.

comfybonfire 2025-01-11 05:35

Yeah I was saying that I could see Tesla adding it to just the X and S.

[deleted] 2025-01-11 08:15

Looks like a villains car now.

footpole 2025-01-11 10:15

The way some cats hide the rear camera in the emblem is really good as it always stays clean. Only works when it’s open of course but I like that it’s never dirty and don’t really need the rear camera when not reversing.

modgone 2025-01-11 10:20

360 cameras are very good and extremely useful. 3D visualization is hit or miss, can't really trust it all the time.

Tupcek 2025-01-11 10:36

I fully disagree. I have Mercedes now, 360 is useless. Anything that goes where cameras meet either disappears, is distorted, seems further or closer than in reality, or shows on two spots same thing. It looks nice but it can’t be used for anything more than what Teslas 3 camera feed shows

modgone 2025-01-11 12:03

I get you, I have a BMW 360 camera system and while the image isn't perfect and still small, I can definitely see where things are even if slightly distorted, the edges are still there, and you can definitely rely on it not to hit anything. Tesla 3D Visualisation meanwhile, misses quite a lot of objects, at 20-30 cm you can't rely on it. https://preview.redd.it/jrk8gehoucce1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=412cbacada16d9520f7591d92ce7b8f7a19d0125

Tupcek 2025-01-11 12:20

This is mostly empty space around you so the artifacts aren’t visible - they merge images so if there isn’t a lot of features it looks very good. Now post a picture of a car that is getting through multiple cameras

modgone 2025-01-11 12:26

https://preview.redd.it/p9svwx1cycce1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b66b5e803c2ffc58934e93cf580a108808081ca Yea here is one parked. As I said, while distorted, cameras don't lie. Whatever visualization they do on Tesla it simply can't be reliable, tried both, for accuracy I prefer the BMW, for looks I like Tesla.

Tupcek 2025-01-11 13:03

again, these cars are right next to you, so they are in view of single camera. This of course isn’t distorted much. But when object passes multiple cameras, it is really bad. Like when you are actually maneuvering to parking spot. I will post an example later when I will be in a car

[deleted] 2025-01-11 13:52

Not really. The marketing material shows what could be a long awaited front camera, that would tie in beautifully with the extra camera capabilites of HW4 and is already available on the Cybertruck. There is also some pretty ambiguous text about better forward facing cameras, but it does not actually clarify anything because all Teslas in the last 4 years have three forward facing cameras. Not to ruin the party, but something similar was visible in the Highland configurator. So we’ll have to wait (at least) 6 weeks to know. First Chinese deliveries are expected come March.

SoManyLilBitches 2025-01-11 14:09

Fully camera based self driving is just asking for people to die.

Flaky-Character-9383 2025-01-13 07:05

I've owned an M3 before my current EV, and I occasionally borrow my workplace Tesla. But what on earth makes you lie? Tesla doesn't have a 360 camera.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-14 00:21

You were wrong. From the press release: "A new front camera has been added under the front bumper, allowing drivers to better view the front of the vehicle when parking or performing low-speed maneuvers. Nice, I guess that settles it. You have a link to the press release?

EvoXOhio 2025-01-14 02:08

Very cool. Wonder why they felt the Y needed it but the 3 didn’t. Also amazes me they’ll add this instead of just going back to USS which is superior and cheaper.

[deleted] 2025-01-14 07:03

Amazing, the press release was NOT avaiable when I wrote the previous reply.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-14 08:33

I think both front bumper and rear camera should have sprinkle system.
