Juniper is going to be sick. The new light bars must be coming to Model 3 also.

Recoil42 2025-01-04 19:40

The Model 3 just had a re-style. It'll be awhile.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-04 19:41

Doubt it, Tesla is constantly making changes. Model 3 already looks dated compared to competition; they aren't going to sit on their EV lead anymore.

BlurryEcho 2025-01-04 19:45

They don’t do significant refreshes in a one-year cycle, they do smaller ones iteratively before a larger refresh. Like the chrome to black trim on 2021 model years or the several different interior re-designs from 2017 to 2024.

Redsjo 2025-01-04 19:55

Imagine the cost replacing the whole unit.

The_GOAT_2440 2025-01-04 20:00

No light bars on the model 3 and thank goodness, every car has those now. They’re played out. So happy the m3 got the refresh without those dumb nerd light bars that’s on every single car now. The new styling on the m3p is so much better. Glad it will stay that way for the next 7-8 years.

Narwhalcommando 2025-01-04 20:04

Hope the fog lights are kept, removing them from the M3 refresh really took out personality from the front fascia design.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-04 20:06

Guarantee Model 3 gets light bar.

_Jhop_ 2025-01-04 20:06

I agree. There is an insane amount of cars with front light bars now; I think it is going to be one of those ‘features’ that will date a vehicle very easily a few years from now.

jamesonm1 2025-01-04 20:07

What? Highland M3P has been released. Did they stop shipping it or something?

iceynyo 2025-01-04 20:11

Looks like the main headlights are lower down, halfway to where the fog lights used to be. IMO I think that means they won't have a separate set of fog lights.

Kuriente 2025-01-04 20:23

The long continuous ridge across the M3 front certainly looks like it had a light bar in mind.

istealpixels 2025-01-04 20:24

Lol no

It's likely to end up looking vaguely like the Xpeng G6. Leapmotor B10 would be another model to look towards.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-04 20:36

Cybertruck and Model Y have it. Model 3 will get it.

The_GOAT_2440 2025-01-04 20:53

Nope it will not. Thank goodness

Where do you see a visual indication of a light bar? Couldn’t this be the same as the new Model 3 where the turn signal is part of the headlight?

Quin1617 2025-01-04 21:02

*Last year. Don’t forget it’s already 2025.

Quin1617 2025-01-04 21:03

Yeah that was a real eye opener the first time I saw it.

woalk 2025-01-04 21:04

I don’t even think the pre-refresh looks dated. Tesla’s designs, in my opinion, have mostly been pretty much timeless ever since they removed the fake grills from the original Model S, which is why they are refreshed so rarely.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-04 21:09

Says the guy that thinks there won't be any changes for 7-8 years.

FuzzyFr0g 2025-01-04 21:15

2 years ago, it came out in 2023

shaggy99 2025-01-04 22:19

> Model 3 already looks dated compared to competition; I do think Highland looks better, but the original doesn't look dated. I see no reason of change simply for changes sake. It's simply a waste if the car functions well.

digitalluck 2025-01-04 22:31

Personally I’m glad they were removed for the refresh. The front looks much cleaner now imo.

All i want is a restyle for the X and S... but somehow I feel like that'll be post-roadster at this point.

[deleted] 2025-01-04 23:47

Interesting, my 2022 M3 doesn't have fog lights.

shadowthunder 2025-01-05 00:36

Instead, the 2023 Model 3 refresh got the claw taillight design that was popular from 2018 to 2022ish. I don't dislike the refreshed 3's taillights, but let's not pretend that Tesla's design team was _ahead_ of the curve on this one.

Quin1617 2025-01-05 00:47

Damn time flies, doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.

standardphysics 2025-01-05 00:52

It feels like a little more identity between the two vehicles would benefit them both. A lightbar one one would definitely do that.

But now it's just gonna look like an Equinox

Fixtor 2025-01-05 06:41

You must have the RWD spec. They didn't come with fog lights. My SR+ also doesn't have them, there are just black placeholders instead (in Europe).

[deleted] 2025-01-05 06:58

That's what I was thinking. I see nothing indicating a light bar.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-01-05 08:18

The only indication is the headlights being in a separate housing from the DRLs. But yes, we don't know for sure if it'll actually have a front lightbar. We only know that it'll have a rear lightbar.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-01-05 08:19

Absolutely not. Tesla rarely makes large design changes to the exteriors of their cars. The previous Model 3 design stayed basically the same for 6 years. The new Model 3 design will likely last at least a few years before a major change. I also very much disagree that it looks dated.

WalrusOk2896 2025-01-05 10:30

Tesla doesn’t make significant changes like that in 1 or 2 years. It’s just not the way the company operates. They have a ton of other priorities outside of redesigning a car they JUST redesigned and did all this promo for. The focus will now be on the juniper, Robotaxi, then S, X, then will come back around to 3. Prob around 2029-30. But there will be small incremental changes along the way of course. And I agree with everyone else that it doesn’t look dated at all.

ASL3312 2025-01-05 13:18

Another one of these 'features' is dynamic indicators.. they looked so cool and futuristic when they came out, but now with nearly every car manufacturer having some sort of version I think they look dated and pretty meh

mrandr01d 2025-01-05 19:22

Honestly the model s is the best looking car at this point imo. As far as 4 door daily drivers go, anyways. I think they should keep it the same.

[deleted] 2025-01-05 21:56

I just wish the turn signals were incorporated into the steering wheel (aka: stalks).

Scoutron 2025-01-05 22:27

Any idea about the S?

Koupers 2025-01-05 22:44

Ya know what, fair. I have an X and I'd really just like to see it updated. If anything, so people stop assuming I'm rich because I bought an X and not thinking it's possible I paid too much for a used one instead. lol.

KilroyKSmith 2025-01-06 01:25

My understanding of fog lights is that they’re mounted really low because the fog tends to thin out next to the road, thus they can shine much further down the road.  Matrix headlights can’t do this.

Dr_Pippin 2025-01-06 21:39

That's unfortunate. This means the marker light on that side will turn off for the turn signal to activate. I always think it looks dumb on cars when they do that, and I was really happy my Model 3 has enough separation between the signature light/marker light and the turn signal that they can remain illuminated while the turn signal flashes.

Playful_Speech_1489 2025-01-06 21:56

im hope they do a BIG refresh on the X and S and i hope to see some of the tech in the cybertruck trickle down like rear wheel control, 48v, 800v etc

cuco_ 2025-01-07 20:03

i recently started the application to purchase a model Y, safe to say to wait for this new model ? Also, since i already paid the 250 app fee, how long do i have to complete my order ?

NutInBobby 2025-01-07 22:24

I’d wait for the new Y at this point for sure. Unsure about your second question.

Talk2Me317 2025-01-09 20:44

Fog lights are mounted low to reduce reflection / glare caused by the mist. They also have a broader beam pattern; you'll see the road edges illuminated when the fog lights are on. They are surprisingly effective on my 21 MY. Fun fact: the North American version has rear fog lights but they're disabled. You'll see them light up during a music light show. I guess the American market wouldn't know what to do with rear fog lights.

DuneProphecy 2025-01-10 01:07

Aaand we have proof. Light bars front and rear confirmed.

alexisreallycool 2025-01-10 01:12

Holding out hope that it’s a render, that photo circulating today looked kinda meh to me. But maybe it’ll look cooler in person. Surprised by the change in design language though given the 3 just came out a little over a year ago. Maybe it’ll go cyber later this year too. Edit: Oh wow didn’t realize it just launched in Asia lol definitely real!
