From the article: According to a recent NHTSA filing of which vehicles contain the most North American parts, Tesla’s vehicles are, unsurprisingly, the most North American made vehicles. This specifically includes parts produced and sourced from the US and Canada for 2025 models. Let’s take a look at just how American Tesla’s vehicles are. The vast majority of Tesla’s part content is produced within the US and Canada. Tesla holds a tie for first place with Honda. The Model 3 Long Range AWD and RWD are in first place alongside the Honda Ridgeline AWD TrailSport, with 75% of their parts being created in North American. Tesla also ties for second place at 70% with the Model 3 Performance and Model Ys, alongside a good chunk of Honda’s other vehicles. The Model S and Model X are closely following at 65% and 60% respectively. It is still more than many other auto manufacturers, some of whom are sporting 1% North American part rates.
I don’t know what’s funnier: the Japanese company Honda is tied for first, or other American auto manufacturers are not first or second place.

Wonder how this compares to the Mach E? Need this as ammunition against a friend who drives one…
Has not impacted my stellar experience with the car one bit. Also just because we know more about him doesn’t mean that every other CEO is a nutcase as well.
america hates TSLA i wish Elon would step away from F’cking politics…. his products are amazing. i have 2 teslas… i am concerned people will key them
Found the [Model Year 2024 list](https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/2024-02/MY2024-AALA-Alphabetical-2-20-24.pdf) Mach-E is 25% parts made in US, 51% from China. So half the car is Chinese parts, twice as many as US and to top it off, Mach-E is assembled in Mexico
If your political opponents are keying your cars, you are probably on the right side of the argument. But how about you let Elon worry about Elon, and you just enjoy your cars. Let's get back to talking about Tesla.
All their parts come from Mexico. I used to work at their giga Texas
I think these numbers are actually down from previous years. I thought I remembered Teslas being 80-90+% in the past. Guess they figured people don’t care much and media are going to ignore any positive aspects of Teslas anyway due to their hate of Musk.

Last I checked Mexico was in North America.
Not understanding a map is peak man. Nicely done.
Doesn’t make you right side of the argument. Just shows there are pieces of shits everywhere.
I never stated otherwise.
How about that the North American parts on F-150 Lightning and GM's EVs are only 29% and 36%?
The article above mostly specifies the US and Canada and it is misleading when 50% of their parts come from Mexico. I never stated that Mexico was not North America. Although I have an iPad with four wheels I don't drive it as much; maybe I should though so I won't be so stupid as my observation led me to comment on what I said above.

LOL
And Biden didn't invite Tesla to the meeting.😐
Batteries make up for a large portion and none of the legacy OEMs produce their own batteries.
That's the thing. I'm not defending Elon any bit but many CEOs are nutcases. There's a video of the former VW CEO where he's talking about Chinese slave labor in Chinese VW factories and that it's up to China how they handle things. The video is in German so not many people around the world have seen it. Elon just happens to loudmouth his actions in English on the web for everyone to see.
That ended up being a pretty momentous error on his part.
What does this have to do with the US made content of the car??
I looked at the source and it’s not North America - it’s percent made in US/Canada. So if it’s made in Mexico it doesn’t count for %, so it explains why a lot of US companies have such low % Just a reminder - Mexico is located in North America.
What meeting?
How about people separate the CEO from the product. I'm sure there's plenty of CEOs you and I disagree with but we still buy their products.
Nice, thank you! I love how the typical Mach E driver (even more it seems than other EVs) love to trash Tesla because of Musk. Yet overlook the fact that more than half of their car is made by Xi Jinping.
Can you please share a link to this video? I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advanced
Honestly, Elon has outlived his usefulness to Tesla. His talent was attracting top engineering talent for cheap by letting them work on cool projects with over the top long term goals. These engineers are very on board with trying to go to Mars or trying to stop global warming. The number on board with making Elon even more rich so he can fund right wing politics is much smaller.
"Unsurprisingly" is right.
He doesn't seem to mention it in this cut of the video I found. I'm not sure if this was the interview or if it was another one https://youtu.be/bKJOFHvTveI?si=PfATR7hOMadN4oK-
Wait what?! lol I always assumed South America was at the border.
I mean, with all due respect, the thing you said that he said is pretty damning, I think we should have some kind of proof before accusing someone they are basically pro slavery haha. I'm looking for it too and can't find anything yet unfortunately
Definitely true. It doesn't really matter since Piech isn't CEO anymore. VW is still working with Chinese slave labor (Uigurs), which is documented (https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/unternehmen/volkswagen-xinjiang-uiguren-101.html). There's a 0% chance the board doesn't know what's going on there.
> i wish Elon would step away from F’cking politics I wish Elon would step away from Tesla. They should put focus in cars and not some stupid robotaxi or Optimus stuff.
The first EV summit ever held at the Whitehouse in which Tesla was explicitly not invited, and Biden declared GM had "led the EV revolution" and "electrified the automotive industry." That very quarter GM had sold something like <1K EVs while Tesla had delivered over 300K.
Maybe, just maybe, Elon felt he had to get involved in politics due to the outsized scrutiny his companies were being faced with from the incumbent party.
Too bad its CEO is imported.
Elon does not need to get involved…. his products sell themselves.
he’s been successful for doing things people laugh at hell… i have made so much on TSLA stock and it has bailed me put from so many other bad trades….. hell - i recently sold all my tsla shares because i thought tsla is too rich at 220….. then it shot to 260 even when i bet against the stock i lose i’m just waiting on my chance to buy back i’m not betting against Elon again…. just hate his politics.
i personally know abt all the CEOs i invest in…. but people only know Elon of the surface… just like they do TESLA. i’m hoping Elon stirs up enough BS so i can buy back into TSLA.
it is! just, the border of Panama.
I’m 40. I feel like I wasn’t taught this adequately.
> he’s been successful for doing things people laugh at Well yes, but there is also FSD...
Wow. Very petty of Biden.
Toyota isn't that great either. They went from great to pretty much mediocre. Most importantly, they are cheater and very unethical. Check out their safety, emission scandals in Asia, how they handled their Corolla GR fires. And don't forget to add those Prius head gasket for fun.
>"Mary, I can remember talking to you way back in January about the need for America to lead in electric vehicles. And I can remember your dramatic announcement that by 2035, GM would be 100 percent electric. You changed the whole story, Mary, wherever — (applause) — wherever you are. There you are. You did, Mary. You electrified the entire automobile industry. I’m serious. You led — and it matters — in drastically improving the climate by reducing hundreds of millions of barrels of oil that will not be used when we’re all electric." - Biden, Nov 17, 2021 Fast forward to 2024: ["Why GM’s no longer going all-electric — for now"](https://theticker.org/13261/business/why-gms-no-longer-going-all-electric-for-now/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CLet%20me%20be%20clear%3A%20GM,to%20build%20its%20charging%20infrastructure.%E2%80%9D)
It doesn't guarantee it, but if one side is keing cars and the other is not, then you have a pretty good indication of which side is right.
The only people rooting for Elon to leave Tesla are the competitors, those still carrying a grudge about Twitter, and the terminally political.
Disagree. The cars are just a stepping stone to the two things that actually matter.
What an insane take when it was Republicans who were politicizing EVs in the first place. They actively tried to stop Tesla from selling their cars and made that part of their culture wars. People have such short memories it's maddening.
Is this a joke or you're for real? Genuinely asking not meaning any offense. It's great if you just learned something new.
There is a good chance your comment is going to age like milk.
Not really. That FSD is delayed like 6 years already is a fact that wont change
100% genuine. I’ve never considered Mexico a part of North America.
Incorrectly assuming what someone said is peak… oh wait I’m not petty like others.
The low IQ mob voted your comment down because they couldn’t understand what you were pointing out.
Well that's just wrong. Just goes to show a previous employee doesn't know as much about the company as they think. 20-25% of the parts come from Mexico. 60-75% of the parts come from the US or Canada. Literally the 5th word of the article is a hyperlink to the data.
Or, and hear me out here, people downvoted because his statement is false? 20-25% of the parts come from Mexico. 60-75% of the parts come from the US or Canada. Literally the 5th word of the article is a hyperlink to the data for you to see yourself.
Inherently racist people come up with statistics like this and fight for their accuracy. Yeah exclude Mexico for no reason even though they are part of NAFTA. You’ll argue that 70% came from US/Canada so that’s more statistically important BUT that’s 35% each. So yeah, exclude Mexico because it’s only providing a measly 25%
Congratulations
Yep, South America can mostly be found far to the east of North America.
Why make a factually false statement? And if it was true ignorance, why leave it unedited when the actual true data is presented?
Look pale, I have things to do. See ya
Also regarding to the editing I’ll try my best to not lose any sleep over it. You know, cuz I care what people on the internet think lol. Like just downvote my comment and move on.
MAGA
i drive everyday with FSD…. it’s just a matter of getting use to someone else driving u… with different quirks. it’s done fine… and i do feel more restful using it. my wife loves it
Is this is a plus? No wonder Toyotas are way more reliable.
And yet it takes several months to receive ordered parts 😂😂😂🥲🥲 makes total sense
You could also argue one led an insurrection and the other will hand over power without violence or unfounded lies....
More lies fed to you
Multiple federal courts and the FBI disagree.
Because cognitive dissonance of someone with different beliefs than them is much harder for them than the genocide of Uyghurs or percecution of people of Hong Kong.
Ancient history; but when I worked for Honda in Ohio 1987-1994, the Accord had the highest domestic content of any car built in the US. Marysville, OH had stamping, welding, painting and vehicle assembly. Engines and suspension components were manufactured (not just assembled) in Anna, OH. Transmissions were manufactured in Russells Point, OH. Over 300 US suppliers supplied the Marysville plant.
What percent in Canada only.
Yet, Ford is working on getting their battery plants in KY finished. But a large number of their components will probably be from South Korea.
Geographically Mexico is in North America, then is Central America and South America. But the arrogance of the US we call our selves “America” as if we were the entire continent or “North America” as if Mexico and Canada didn’t exist. Ad they is what they teach in some US schools
To be fair, they do teach a lot in US schools but information retention isn't our strong suit.
This isn't precisely true. "Central America" isn't a real continent, that's just what we call the North American countries that speak Spanish. It's more of a cultural designation than a geographical one.
They specifically say North America because they can't exclude Mexico and Canada. Where a lot of parts come from.
