Ford also makes you buy it now too. It was only free for buyers for a short time. New buyers have to buy it. But third party ones can be found for $160. That’s cheap anyway.

I drive a bolt and didn't see any requirement for a subscription when setting up the app. The price at most of the chargers near me is 0.55/kWh though which is pricey. Not sure if that's how much Tesla owners pay with/without subscriptions.

False. Stop spreading that lie. It is only void on the small sub system of the charging port if and only if they can prove that the “non-authorized” caused it directly and then the repair cost is shoved to the device manufacturer. In fords case on the one ford supply they happen to be both parts of who pays and ford would take the cost and effort to make Tesla refund them if it failed as Tesla is the manufacturer.
The price depends on the location and time of the day.

The subscription option is in the app. There's pricing for tesla owners / subscribers and pricing for non-subscribers.

What he said isn't true, the news article he posted says nothing about voiding warranty, the gm page the article links also says nothing about voiding warranty. Also in the US the burden of proof is on the manufacturer to PROVE that the use of something aftermarket was DIRECTLY responsible for the damage.
Yeah seems fair to me as a Bolt owner. In any case, my plan with this is to only use the Superchargers if I don't have other options (which unfortunately is the case in parts of northern New England where I do drive sometimes). Though I will say most of the superchargers near me are almost always practically empty when I drive by so I don't think I'll be blocking many people if I have to use one here and there.
Just got my adapter from Rivian (for free) yesterday.. it was like Christmas morning opening it up. That thing is heavy and sturdy! Love that it has a locking mechanism into the car.
GMs implementation is so clunky! Their app is straight out of the 2010s! No plug and charge? Too many buttons to press to initiate a charge.

Correct. Like the 2025 Ioniq 5 which has already been announced with an NACS port. That will actually come with a CCS adapter for using Electrify America etc. stations until those add NACS cables as well.

...I .. I don't even know how to respond to that. Of course it's more than your house?? If you're 60 mi away from your house and you buy a bottle of water it's going to cost significantly more than the water costs at your house. You're paying for the convenience and availablity. The situation I described is this exact situation, you're paying for the cost of the electricity plus the service fee of them distributing it to you, if you drive a GM or a Ford or anything else you're actually getting charged more for the electricity because you don't drive a Tesla. I never once said anything about your electricity cost at home, everybody has different electricity costs at home. You asked about a subscription fee. There is none for Tesla owners, as I said. Other can manufacturer owners CAN join a subscription monthly, and get the same electricity costs per kWh as Tesla owners.
It is sometimes a valid sore. Like some dumbass statement someone made by them directly. Or a statement that the Ford CEO made like all the adapters would be free to current owners as he made the statement directly on there and as a ford rep. But on this case not so much. Hell even on the ford one it still needed the official ford release.
Basic question I can’t seem to find an answer to: can you just pay for a month and then stop, or are you required to subscribe for some longer period of time? If you can start/stop it at will, seems like a no brainer to subscribe only when you’re road tripping.

I'm not sure what the spread is, but at least at one local charger has $0.46/kWh for a member/owner and $0.60/kWh for a non-member.

I already did and it works perfectly. A2Z is the company name. Lots of people have been using them and no reported issues.

I’ve found third party ones stuck on the Tesla charger cord three times. The Ford one has a manual unlock latch but these (unsure of the brand) don’t for some reason.
For sure, I responding to the "slowed over the years" point. As to what Elon's plans are and the impact of the re-org, yes we'll have to wait and see. Regardless, Tesla's own vehicle production has always been more of the issue for charger demand than non-Tesla usage.

Well he fired the entire supercharger team back then (500 people) so who knows what the future will look like
I almost never charge at a super charger and charge at home 99.9% of the time. Only time I used the super chargers were during a road trip. Didn’t have a single issue with the third party charger. I would have preferred to use Fords but it hasn’t been shipped to me yet. That delay is due to Elon firing the entire supercharging team as they had contracts to manufacture the adapters which were put on hold for a few months.
FYI ElectrifyAmerica is the same way. Very reasonable and low break-even point

It really could stagnate for years. The Berkeley Heights supercharger was installed July 2023, "just" waiting for a transformer. No sign of activity in over 18 months is crazy.
If I had free supercharging, I'd still charge at home over night. Can't beat home charging for convenience.

Crying in California. I have never been to a supercharger that was as expensive as my home electricity cost. Not even in California. I would supercharge instead of charging at home, except the cost to drive to the supercharger would eat up my savings, and the nearest supercharger is always impacted. "You should consider trying a supercharger that is less busy."
I have never paid anything remotely close to $0.55 per kWh. My closest charger is still at $0.44 and that’s astronomically high. I’m used to paying $0.26-$0.35 in Colorado. I’m located in CA temporarily where energy costs are absurd

Is there anything in this article that’s true? There are no adapters for sale in the myGMC app nor online. There is no where in the myGMC app to sign up or into a SuperCharger network. Yet all of this is supposed to be available “today”.
There are some instructions on other GM forums on how to get the adapter via the app. Seems to be a special path…

They can fully utilize the power of the supercharger and charge at a blistering 5kW, that's like L4 for a bolt. Marginally better than sticking two double As into their charge port
That's great, but I still can't imagine how uncomfortable and confrontational people at Superchargers are going to be when you have to occupy two stalls, or when you have to block and empty stall because you need the adjacent one to be free. There's a 40 car SC near me and non of the stalls are towing stalls. It's crazy to me that they are still putting the port on the wrong side for the R2

Im not judging you, I'm just saying even in a tesla I've had numerous bad experiences with other Tesla drivers speeding past me, being aggressive over charging. Factoring in using two stalls is rough. Definitely if you have a supercharger with a towing stall that solves your problem because you can position your car with lots of freedom without issue for space
