Would you take this Model Y with auto pilot or try to get the new updated screen and interior?

Nope! It is just standard auto pilot. The newer one will have all the new stuff than this model y stuck in 2023 Yeah I would upgrade

I would be incredibly frustrated if I didn’t have at least basic autopilot on a long drive. So if you go for a new one for a headliner color and .6 inch of screen, make sure you’re okay with paying at least $99/month for supervised fsd and whatever Elon wants to charge for unsupervised fsd if that ever comes out for hw4

CopperBlitter 2026-03-08 12:01

Wouldn't a newer one only have TACC?

Empty_Wallaby5481 2026-03-08 12:07

Cosmetic vs functional. I would take functional.

Dipset365 2026-03-08 12:09

Thanks. This is a model y premium all wheel drive 2025. I guess it’s not the newest model with updated technology. Should I call and try to get the newest one and have them add autopilot

LegalChicken4174 2026-03-08 12:12

Double check if the new ones have basic autopilot. I am hearing that the 2026 dont have it anymore which is a bitch move on Tesla part.

Mysterious-Dark-11 2026-03-08 12:13

New with FSD everyday

Dipset365 2026-03-08 12:16

Thanks that makes a lot of sense

Dipset365 2026-03-08 12:45

You have to buy FSD right?

Mysterious-Dark-11 2026-03-08 12:55

I don’t know. I’ve never used autopilot. Only FSD.

Username000-1 2026-03-08 14:00

If black headliner was important to me I’d go for that. Autopilot is not reliable. Driving on the highway and experiencing phantom breaking from Autopilot is not something I’d go out of my way to keep.

entiodu 2026-03-08 14:55

People say that the newer ones with dark headliner is with hardware 4.5, not sure how far it is true.

NoaLink 2026-03-08 14:56

Autopilot is the gold standard, man. It has a few odd issues here and there but it is incredibly reliable overall.

Sassy-Bongocat 2026-03-08 15:19

How important are the features? IMO basic autopilot is whatever, it’s either you subscribe and are doin full FSD or you’re driving manually. Personally I only drive with FSD 3,200 miles and only drove 100miles myself

Dipset365 2026-03-08 15:28

I don’t see myself using it much. The nice thing about this one is I can pick up Tuesday. How different is the screen. This is a 2025 so I would assume it has the same tech.

ihateroomba 2026-03-08 15:36

Fsd is only available as 99/mo now. I bought the package for $8k on valentine's day because they took the option away.  The premium version just doesn't look right when it's driving down the road.

ihateroomba 2026-03-08 15:37

Autopilot is trash compared to FSD. It's an upgrade.

Sassy-Bongocat 2026-03-08 16:02

Well if you don’t care about FSD just get the latest and greatest, I would wait for the black headliner and screen upgrade. Might be nothing now but buyer remorse sucks. Screen is more cosmetic

pieterbos 2026-03-08 16:38

Having driven other manufacturers cars with auto lane keeping, I would say others are at least as good, but do not experience phantom breaking. There isn't nearly as much phantom breaking as earlier, but it still happens, making auto lane keeping useless on some roads where other cars can use it. But, if you know when to use and not use it, I find it very useful, and I would go for the one with autopilot. $1200 a year for FSD or missing basic features, no thanks.

Psice 2026-03-08 16:55

If you plan to subscribe to FSD, get the new one, of course. If you won't be paying the FSD subscription, then get the one with Autopilot. FSD is extremely good and much better and safer than Autopilot, and if you plan to subscribe, then you will never use Autopilot.

President_Connor_Roy 2026-03-08 18:28

Phantom breaking used to be a huge problem, like dangerously bad, but they finally fixed it a few years ago. I haven’t had it happen on AP literally once in probably 20k miles or so on AP over the past few years in both of our Teslas on a ton of road trips and commutes.

jacob6875 2026-03-08 20:03

If you plan to subscribe to FSD I would wait otherwise go for the AP one.

Blazah 2026-03-08 20:06

autopilot is worthless.

RickySpanishEOD 2026-03-08 21:22

Once you begin using FSD full time you don't really go back.

manateefourmation 2026-03-08 21:37

Are you going to subscribe to FSD?

FriendlyFriendster 2026-03-08 21:47

I would still get the one with Autopilot. Even if you plan to subscribe to FSD. You never know what'll happen in the future, and things could change. Maybe you get a remote job or a job much closer to home and don't need to drive as much. Maybe you get into a financial situation where $100/month is too much to spend, or the price increases to a point where the value just isn't there. There's any number of things that might change. My point is, if something changes and you unsubscribe from FSD, it's really nice to at least have autopilot to fall back on for highway driving. I should also mention that there are some people out there who prefer autopilot to FSD.

BobbyRHill 2026-03-08 21:52

Autopilot is awesome

Southernboyj 2026-03-09 02:36

You can retrofit the screen. You can’t retrofit AP

Focus_Fanatic 2026-03-09 14:20

this doesn’t mean it comes with autopilot for free, this just means the car is capable of autopilot/FSD. all Model Ys and model 3s come with autopilot capabilities, with varying levels of Hardware level

Minnesota_Nice1 2026-03-10 02:28

doesn’t help you, but I got mine from the Delray location too haha. Small world.
