Increased efficiency after losing heat

KingChoppa7 | 2026-03-07 16:38 | 9 views

My heat went out all of a sudden, ran a code said the heating element is down/has fault. Ever since then my "fuel"efficiency and power have increased significantly do I have to get this fixed? What would cause such an increase?

I mean, obviously it takes energy to make heat. Sounds like you have an early model 3 with the toaster oven heating elements, which take tons of electricity to make heat. Also, cars fail safety inspections if heat doesn't work.

Im guessing PTC heater or heat pump depending on the year of ur Tesla

I’m gonna take a guess that the heater helps put the battery at optimal temps when needed. So with it being broken, you got better range at the cost of possibly faster battery degradation?

Not everywhere has safety inspections

Yeah its older with a ptc. Kind of hoping that the ptc wasnt working properly when I was getting heat and getting it fix keeps the new efficiency.

My state does not do yearly inspections. And its an 18 so it is the ptc heater. To be honest, the heat was never really that hot since I bought the thing used. Hoping the ptc was bad when I bought it and replacing it wirh a new one will keep the new range efficiency lol
