Model Y Juniper satin black color PPF: hot or not? 🔥

teslabros | 2026-03-02 22:25 | 141 views

Customer wrapped his Model Y Juniper in satin black PPF and absolutely nailed it. The depth in the satin finish looks so good in the sunlight. Always cool seeing someone take on a full DIY install and crush it. Not trying to sell anything here, just impressed with how ridiculously clean these photos came out. If you have any questions about color PPF, here to help.

That’s hot

Creepy_Antelope_2345 2026-03-02 22:37

I’m noticing less and less people wrap their car’s. Perhaps the fad is over, similar to what a big deal rims were in the early 2000s and audio systems in the 90s. This looks good though. It’s not way out there and goes well with the design of the car.

Pleasant-Blood874 2026-03-02 22:42

Looks Good, not worth it due to the depreciation...

My old Model Y had the front end PPF’D as well as the rockers. The first damage to the car ended up being a door ding on the body line…

World_Lanky 2026-03-02 22:51

Now that’s fucking sexy

pinkospez 2026-03-02 22:54

Still have rims and still have an audio system. Lol I guess I’m stuck in a fad

PIRANHASQUIRREL 2026-03-02 22:57

Sorry, all Junipers look like a copy of the Hyundai Kona to me

Creepy_Antelope_2345 2026-03-02 23:00

When I said fad, it meant that it was all the craze. Those silly Sprewell Spinners on 22’s and the JBL speakers blasting. It was a super tacky era. But if people have some nice HRE’ or something like that, great, they change the entire look on the car.

xbinary 2026-03-02 23:19

I’m crying in 2023 model y, the juniper is SICKKK

snakefighting 2026-03-02 23:27

I can’t get past juniper and prius look alike.. just saying (will always luv the Y before refresh) https://preview.redd.it/q7o9nh1uupmg1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=118fc7dacf48865e7e69f4292e442c0e7999938e

Teslas depreciate very fast

iamtheav8r 2026-03-02 23:40

Nah

WunderPeach 2026-03-02 23:44

Oh yeah, duh. But nothing about the wrap cool 👌🏼

Pleasant-Blood874 2026-03-02 23:46

By Year 2 you'll be down 25 percent depreciation, probably more...

Turtleguycool 2026-03-02 23:51

The wrap is like 6500 bucks on a depreciating vehicle

WunderPeach 2026-03-02 23:59

$6500?! I thought likeeee 3k in LCOL??

WunderPeach 2026-03-02 23:59

Also thought wraps really only last like 3 years?

PIRANHASQUIRREL 2026-03-03 00:02

Nobody wants to be seen in a 2025 or later Tesla, for obvious reasons

dumbledayum 2026-03-03 00:26

HOT

EnvironmentalFlow592 2026-03-03 00:27

I don't understand wrapping. It seems like it costs almost as much as getting it repainted... I guess maybe if you bought the wrap yourself but that's an expensive diy that might not turn out right. Is there a common sense reason to do this?

SilenceDobad76 2026-03-03 00:27

My interest in them died after finding they need to be redone every few years.

PugMaster007 2026-03-03 00:36

Looks awesome!

FLawless______ 2026-03-03 00:54

Maybe bc you can’t get past the credit check to finance? 🤣

FLawless______ 2026-03-03 00:56

Some wraps look great but the paint trims are nice enough that it’s really just a waste of money 2x, the price for the wrap and the added loss on a fast-depreciating car

msabre__7 2026-03-03 01:02

What?

beerbaron105 2026-03-03 01:37

back when factory audio systems sucked, now most are pretty good, and some fantastic.

sherlocknoir 2026-03-03 02:13

Not. It just looks like dull paint.

mealteem6 2026-03-03 03:19

Best color I’ve seen so far

Tradetheday2093 2026-03-03 04:09

Imagine stainless steel body with no paint worry

rosujin 2026-03-03 04:57

Hot! I did the exact same color / matte PPF combo on my MY premium. Good choice!

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-03-03 06:42

A wrap, yes. PPF though can last many years

Zealousideal_Aside96 2026-03-03 06:44

I think you’re underestimating how much it is to get a good professional paint job for an entire car done

T_Hankss 2026-03-03 09:00

Hottentot!

teniente_dan 2026-03-03 13:18

PPF awesome, rims meh

Alucardis666 2026-03-03 14:35

Very hot!

IndigoBroker 2026-03-03 16:09

Looks good!

Turtleguycool 2026-03-03 16:38

They can last between 5-10, the price is just what I have heard so far for XPEL. Either way, for a sub 50k car, when most people will wanna keep upgrading, it just doesn't seem worth it to me

GizmoSwd 2026-03-03 19:03

I prefer the gloss look in black but the satin finish is ok too

teslabros 2026-03-04 19:22

Parking lot dings are the worst

teslabros 2026-03-04 19:26

Vinyl wraps last around 5-7 years if taken care of. But PPF can last up to 10 years. Give or take depending on environment, how much you drive, how often you hand wash it, things like that

teslabros 2026-03-04 19:34

Wraps can be removed without damaging the OEM paint underneath, so many people opt for a wrap instead of repainting to be able to customize their car and still protect the original finish.

EnvironmentalFlow592 2026-03-04 20:37

Good answer. Thanks
