How to use auto park / parallel park

mbitbb | 2026-02-28 18:30 | 29 views

I use fsd all the time (24 mslr, hw4) and will let it park sometimes when it shows up somewhere, but I don’t know how to purposefully use auto park if I want to tell it to parallel park in a certain place on the street as I pass it or even park in a certain place in a parking lot. Help pls!

As you're driving slow, I think under ~8mph, look at the screen and it will start to show parking spots it can see, you'll pick one on the screen and follow the prompts.

With model s, you'll pick the spot using the scroll wheel, shown on the driver display, and then click it to start auto park.

Just got my M3P.. I don’t know either so I’ll follow this thread 😂

Oh interesting. Ok thanks for that. I have heard “use the scroll wheel to select the spot” but wasn’t thinking of this. Will give it a go

For model 3/y it's all done on the center screen and slow speed, shows spot, tap it and then hit go.

Hmm. I’ll have to try. I’m new to the car so bear with me. I’ve parked it a few times myself. And had FSD do it at a charging station once. So if you’re rolling through a parking lot it will show individual spaces and you just tap on one and a prompt comes up to accept (go)?

That is correct.

Thanks!! I’ll try it!!

It’s a good way to check if the camera and steering is calibrated properly. When we got our used Model Y, it always fails at parallel parking until it was calibrated.

How do you calibrate if it sucks at it?

diaperpoop_ 2026-02-28 20:53

You can do it via Service Mode or just have the SC do it if you’re under warranty.

I’m guessing this is goggle searchable.. but is there an easy east to do this?

Did this today, super easy as long as you know what you’re doing lol ty!

Go into the service tab in your settings while parked. Clicked camera calibration and confirm deleting the current one. Then drive, preferably on a multi lane, well marked highway for like 10-20 miles for it to calibrate.
