What you need (and have): A high performance EV that gets good range, incredible tech, won't get your insurance raised, with a much more economical tire set up, and even the option of adding more acceleration for a few K more. What you dont need: Marketing hype creating a FOMO situation on an automobile which is a depreciating asset and outside of housing one of the highest costs in daily life.
I have a base model 3 from 2023 and love every single time i get into the car. Chill and enjoy what you have.

Range wise all you had to do was swap out the performance wheels and tires with some long range wheels and tires and you’d be close to the same range

I got my MY before the tax credit ran out and was obviously kind of disappointed when they announced the Performance like a month later, that being said - I don't think about it anymore. I don't think you will either in a couple months...

Back in 2008 I got a Mercedes SLK350 and wish I spent the extra $10k for a SLK55 AMG to this day. I wouldn’t have missed the money. Now I try to minimize regret whenever possible.

I had the non performance and then the performance. I wish I wouldn’t have bought the performance. The loss in range is a bigger bummer day to day.

Get the acceleration boost and be happy that you don’t have to pay for 20” tires. You’ll be good to go.

I did the opposite. I went from a Performance to LR and don't miss the Performance at all. At 49 years old I just don't need that much speed in my life anymore. LR is fast enough for me.

good news, the P model has scrawny tires and you WILL crack your wheels on the regular. I'd probably just get the AWD next time, they're still plenty fast.

Did you actually test drive both to confirm if what others say about the comfort is true?

I own the MY Performance AWD, awesome , but you will lose $$$. But, if you’re losing sleep over it.. I guess consider it. It’s a sweet ride for sure.

I got a base model and kind of wish I had bought an LR. We could swap and one of us would be happy.

On my previous car, I seriously considered paying hundreds of dollars to have someone drive one with the $1000 option I wanted to my local dealer. I decided I just couldn’t justify the cost, so I lived with a single-disc CD player and tape combo instead of the 6-disc CD changer I wanted.
Well, within months the iPod came out, and I could use one of those headphone-to-tape adapters to play it in my car. Something that wouldn’t have been possible with the 6-disc changer (since that omitted the tape deck), I might add. Not only did I save a bunch of money, it turned out to be accidentally more future-proof.
The moral of the story is don’t sweat it. Invest the money you saved to go toward the next big purchase. AWD is plenty fast — and gets better range. Unless you’re going to the track (why?), AWD is all you need. I’ve often wished for more range, but basically never to have a marginally better 0-60.
