Is this normal battery degradation for a 2023 Model Y (NCM)?

Busy-Cauliflower-756 | 2026-02-24 12:11 | 21 views

I have a 2023 Model Y with an NCM battery and about 82,400 miles on it. The drive from my girlfriend’s place to my home is only about 150 miles. Even if I charge as much as possible before leaving her place, I cannot make this trip in one go and always need to stop at a Supercharger. I understand that conditions can vary, but my main question is: Is it normal for a 2023 Model Y at this mileage to not be able to complete a 150-mile drive on a full or near-full charge? I’m trying to figure out whether this is expected battery degradation or if something might be off w

There are so many factors that impact range, outside temp, speed of the vehicle, wind speed, elevation changes, hvac settings, etc. If you’re going 80 mph and it’s 25 degrees outside you’re not gonna have a good time. Spend some time reviewing the energy charts in the car to see where your energy usage is being allocated.

I suspect there is something wrong here. My ‘13 MS P85+ had original range of 265. With 180,000 miles my current range is 240 miles. After about 13 years that gives me 90% of original battery capacity. I supercharge about 50% of the time and at home with level 2 charging.

what speed are you driving and what kind of terrain is it? Sounds like something is off.. its a rwd model with the smaller battery? If youre doing 80 and its hilly, not ideal, but give more details. im no expert by any means... but speed is HUGE in regards to power usage.

Depends on how cold out it is. Cold kills range.

There is no extenuating circumstance that would explain a <150mi range. Maybe a free battery replacement is in your future
