2026 Model Y RWD – Clicking/Creaking noise during sharp turns, Tesla couldn’t replicate. Anyone dealt with this?
Picked up my 2026 Model Y RWD in mid-October. A few months in and I’ve been noticing a clicking/creaking noise during low-speed sharp turns — most obvious during U-turns or full-lock turns in parking lots. It happens in both directions. I recently had it in for service for a few things and added this to the list. Here’s what the service notes said: “Our technician reviewed the video and conducted a thorough inspection but could not replicate the creaking noise from the steering wheel during low-speed turns at this time. The cause of the intermittent sound remains unclear due to its inconsistent nature. We performed a detailed diagnosis and a post-repair validation test drive to ensure everything functions properly. If the noise becomes more persistent, we encourage you to return for further evaluation.” So basically — they watched my video (where it’s clearly audible at the 9-13 second mark), couldn’t reproduce it themselves, and sent me on my way. The noise is still there. It’s intermittent but definitely real. My research says CV joint or something in the steering rack, but I’m no mechanic. Has anyone else gone through this loop with Tesla service? Any tips on getting them to actually fix it rather than just close the ticket? And does anyone recognize this issue on a RWD Model Y specifically? Already planning to go back — just want to be better prepared this time.
