Nice
What’s different?
hope they can add that front camera to the 23-25's without it. edit: fixed years. thanks /u/chymchymx
Very curious to see if performance as well as autonomy will be improved
I wish Tesla would get disruptive. I get it, these refreshes are really just about bringing necessary hardware for the future of automated driving, but there’s so much space in the EV world to capitalize on and Tesla seem to be taking the safe option. Like all the S upgrade iPhones Apple does. Edit: I’m going to make the argument that the Cybertruck is *not* disruptive. It tried to be when they announced it, but what we got was a whacky form factor standard Tesla. Standard interior, all touchscreen, standard range, standard Tesla build quality all for a premium price. It’s pure vanity. I’m talking disruption like what Chinese EV manufacturers are doing.
The camera, meaning everyone without it is fucked for Unsupervised driving.
They wasted the capital on the cybertruck
[removed]
They tried with the cybertruck and it flopped massively.
[deleted]
Looks like the reflection of the bushes.
Makes way more sense. Thanks!!
It has never had a sunroof (at least raven and palladium). Why would they add that? Also it has falcon doors. Where would they add a "full sunroof"?
Reflection in glass
Did it? Last year it was the most popular EV truck, and this year it's #2, only slightly behind the F150 Lightning.
Bush reflection. I had the old one which peeled a lot. The new one has held up very well over a year now with 0 peeling.
Thank you :) glad others out there aren't as dumb as I am 😝 Appreciate the reply
List 5 EV trucks
Seems like they should be able to, should offer it if we have FSD at least.
The rumor was even more range, better seats, quieter ride and some improvements to the doors and hinges in general. Along with the camera and the new style tail lights and allegedly different headlight internals. But who knows
Rivian R1T, hummer truck, scout truck, Silverado, sierra, cyber truck and lightning
Cybertruck R1T Hummer EV Silverado EV Sierra EV F150 Lightning
being #1 and selling 100 trucks versus 50 trucks is not disruptive. (numbers to prove a point)
Am I misremembering or were there shots of pre-production refresh 3/Y that had the front bumper camera as well?
I think you would need to have HW4 to have that front camera
lol- what an incredibly narrow vision completely ignoring the economics surrounding it.
There are only 6 on the market. R1T, Silverado, F150, Hummer, Sierra, Cybertruck
Who cares, Tesla hype is over.
Fair. My point was it's easy to rank highly in a niche market. 2nd when there's only a handful of models is not an achievement. There are reportedly lots just full of unsold CTs. The demand we've seen has been them working through pre-orders. In my opinion it'll drop like a stone now because everyone who wants one/can afford one has one. Its nothing like the model Y for example, which was the best selling car worldwide including ICE vehicles too.
See the comments I just posted. That was kind of the point I was trying to make. 2nd doesn't mean shit when there's only 6 models in the race.
For someone without the front camera. Can you help me understand why I’m fucked?
So far they’re just for the SUVs, because you ride higher and it’s harder to gauge curbs when parking.
That should be Model X's purchased after ~March 2023
The interior shots looks like the model Y refresh.
So really, the EV truck industry flopped. It wasn't just Tesla.
I have a 2022 and it looks pretty much the same except mine has the yoke. Can’t really tell if that is a light strip on the door and dashboard.
They invested in production capacity for 125k-250k trucks per year. They are selling 25k-35k trucks per year.
For an X, the seats look cheap still. I wonder if they lifted the seats off the cybertruck. My kid hates the seats in the cybertruck.
The refreshed S is spotted with it, too
They took the instrument panel out and integrated screen out of the S. What else do you want?
There is not much of a market for $80k+ truck, just ask Rivian, who has been trying the last 3 years. The $70k model will increase demand, but if they can get it down to $60k then it could probably sell at least 100k annually
connect existence enjoy practice retire zephyr adjoining ten pet wakeful *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev/home)*
Yes, Tesla promising $40k-$70k and delivering $70k-$100k has limited their demand.
Most of the 2021-2022 yokes have a peeling issue so they replace them for free and will give you a wheel free if you’d like it. That’s what happened with me.
I had the same thought
"Refresh"
The X is starting to look dated.
What? It looks exactly the same as the existing S/X interior. I suppose the tape is covering ambient lighting. But the same none-the-less. Looks nothing like Model Y.
What's the relevancy of this comment?
What I am saying is if this is a X refresh it looks more like the new Y refresh than a unique X Refresh. Yea you can tell this could be an X based on the windscreen, RV mirror, sun visors, and other details. To me, doesn’t look as premium for some reason
yawn.
How can it look like the Y refresh if it's been around for years before the Y refresh?
He said it’s “pretty much the same” and it could be even more pretty much the same for no extra money. It seems they’re only really adding ambient interior lights to match 3/Y and bumper camera.
There better be a stalk on that steering wheel.
😂- no, it didn’t. Sales numbers show that to anyone that is reasonable intelligent. Sorry you’re on the other side.
Huh?
Tesla chose to enter that market, promised a product and price point that they didn’t deliver, and hasn’t really done better than the legacy automakers. That’s not what the fans and stock pumpers thought was going to happen back in 2019-2020 when they were talking about millions of reservations.
Saying it looks nothing like the model Y is a stretch.
And yet, here you are, taking the time to comment.
The rear seats are ass
The truck is too big and too gaudy for fleet sales.
The blue tape around the doors leads me to believe they are going to have the ambient lighting that the Model 3 and Y do. But I'm not positive.
Of course, the hardware on all previous teslas were never going to to be unsupervised ….lol
$37 billion in free cash. They can freely experiment
You don't need a camera in the bumper to drive a car. It's just helpful.
Says your gut feeling?
Says Tesla sales numbers and not innovating. Do you have some evidence to the contrary?
> Edit: I’m going to make the argument that the Cybertruck is not disruptive. It tried to be when they announced it, but what we got was a whacky form factor standard Tesla. Standard interior, all touchscreen, standard range, standard Tesla build quality all for a premium price. It’s pure vanity. I’m talking disruption like what Chinese EV manufacturers are doing. Thats an interesting perspective and I find myself agreeing.
You need two camera facing forward for better results. The fact that HW2.5 people are fucked and effectively hardware 3 people are fucked, leads me to believe that hardware 4 people are fucked. Especially given they havnt released certain features for HW3 people. Source : had 2.5. Now have 3. And I have a HW4
Tell me when and if they're providing any increased range. If they gave me 450 mile range I would 100% get it. If its upper 300s its just not enough for me.
There are two cameras facing forward already, but no, that's not needed. Given how close HW4 already is to unsupervised, the recent rate of progress, and the fact that it's still early in its life, it'll most likely get there.
[deleted]
I'm just analyzing the situation for myself. Humans have been driving for decades with a view from just one height. It's obviously possible.
Plus there’s no premium version. If you can’t order a King Ranch, Longhorn; cushion your ass like a Model X and give me a real dash version - lux buyers will shy away after the thrill wears off.
Hah, your point doesn't need a rebuttle. I am pointing out how your statement lacks actual factual data. Sales numbers is not capital. Try again.
You know they make the best cars in the world, right? Prior to that no one even made EVs. What's disruptive to you?

The current FSD computers don’t have the physical plug on the motherboard for the front bumper camera wiring harness. The pre-HW4 computers are also a physically different size to HW4, so you can’t swap them out. Tesla would have to make a 3.5 version that fits in the HW3 space but has HW4 plugs. IF HW3 can run FSD unsupervised. Also V13 and V12 FSD supervised software don’t use the front camera. People have tapped them up and the system doesn’t care, but that doesn’t mean it won’t become a requirement for FSD Unsupervised.
[deleted]
Close in terms of the fact that the miles per necessary intervention rate of v13.2, which released in November 2024, is roughly 2 orders of magnitude away from human-level safety, and FSD improved by 3 orders of magnitude in 2024 alone. Do the math.
Buddy, the car has two forward-facing cameras in the front just like two eyes lol. But that's not even needed.
Damn… I’m HW4 so maybe they’ll have a retrofit computer. My FIL is stranded in DFW and I was just thinking that in a few years I could just send my Tesla to pick him up. Unsupervised is the word I missed though. Being new to Tesla I read this as supervised and it now makes much more sense as to what I am potentially missing and why.
kinda disappointing but maybe they’ll surprise us with an 800V architecture. Then again i doubt it
[deleted]
Uh, what? If you only drive a few miles and intervene 5 times, then your miles per intervention rate would be extremely bad. I feel like I'm talking to 3rd graders here.
That’s my point. “It works for me” isn’t good. If I can’t use it at all and you can use it forever. That’s a software problem. And it makes you think I’m a third grader
A bumper camera and some led interior lights… what a refresh..
it probably is a light bar, it looks to be covered with tape in the photo.
Looks like shit compared to my Mazda... https://i.imgur.com/p21XSxP.jpeg
Love that they kept the wood accents. That was my biggest gripe with the new Y. All black and gray is so lifeless. RGB is tacky imo but here we are. I guess it’s here to stay. I’m hoping the exterior will look more aggressive. Y/Cyber style light bars would be nice. Of course the range is a big deal here for me. I’d like to upgrade to an X from my Y but I need 400 mile range or I’ll just stick with the Y.
No wonder the S and X are not selling at all.
It's not that it's not needed. The problem is that if Tesla decides the lower camera is required by them to get unsupervised. It doesn't take much. They promised unsupervised before HW4 and there's been previous iterations that continue to fall behind HW4. Eventually it'll be HW4 falling behind. It's just how the tech works(or doesn't work). It's no where near unsupervised. I don't know why anyone honestly thinks this. It's closer than it's ever been, but it's got a lot of crap to get worked out.
I have the same problems in Wisconsin. It's like rural areas weren't calculated for or the low amount of FSD use in the area isn't allowing it to properly adjust for it. There needs to be some adjustment to how it centers itself in a lane too. Staying center with a left bias in the lane at all times keeps you too close to oncoming traffic on 2 lane highways. On top of that there are a lot of blind hills on curves here that will have someone swerving in a ditch to avoid your Tesla trying to put the driver's mirror on the center line. It's a fucking mess for 2 lane 55mph county roads, no matter how well defined the lines are.
Oh snap! I’ve got a 2022 model s with a peeling yoke! What do I do?? Schedule service appt and ask for a replacement? I’d also like to swap for steering wheel because I hate the yoke!
Oh shit I didn’t know that, mine is peeling
🤓 "Acshually, your point doesn't need a rebuttal"
Yes! Book a service appt and send them pictures. There’s a service bulletin that’s functionally somewhat like a recall - they’ll replace it totally for free! I’m glad I brought it up though it was somewhat off topic.
Oh hell yah, you made my day, thank you!
Be aware they've made no explicit statement saying the front camera is required, and given the current performance of cars with HW3/4 it doesn't really seem to be explicitly necessary. They have only said that if a \*new FSD hardware\* is required for unsupervised FSD, that they will retrofit older cars that, and I am using basic logic to infer this next part, have fully paid for FSD already on a car that \*may\* not support unsupervised.
As a 2023 x owner , I will not be upgrading . And I usually upgrade every 4-5 years just to get new warranty. This is pretty boring for the price .
Oh what a refresh 😆😆😆😆 same old car with few minor update. Botta X and S need a major refresh. Lucid Gravity Touring will kick it out of the market for price and specs....better for tesla to rush and do also a Model X without FwD and in the 60-70k...that will sell.as hot cake.

Many of the hw2.5/3 cars have uss and/or radar that may help fill the gap.
Yes, there is a chance that Tesla decides it's easier to make unsupervised work with that camera, and they devote their resources only to that. But I think that chance is fairly low. With compute, we don't know what level of compute is required to get to reliability greater than humans. It's entirely possible that the HW3 computer doesn't have enough compute to make it happen, for example. But for the cameras, we know basically for a fact that it's possible—without the front bumper camera, and even without the higher resolution of the HW4 cameras. Why? Because humans can look through the camera views of even HW3 cameras and know how to drive the car. That means the views themselves aren't the constraint—the constraint is the interpretation and decision-making that happens with those views, which is the realm of the computer and the software that runs on it. That's the bottleneck. I think it is near unsupervised at this point. To put it in perspective: FSD v13.2 released in November 2024 and is roughly 2 orders of magnitude away from human safety in terms of miles per necessary intervention. Meanwhile, FSD progressed by 3 orders of magnitude from the start of 2024 to the end of 2024. So you can do the math.
This camera is not going to get us to unsupervised. Just like hw3 didn’t. Just like hw4 didn’t… etc.
“Close” “Recent rate of progress”
Silly meaningless metric.
I think it's much better than it used to be in many places. It's unusable in 90% of the places I drive in my area. I just don't understand the confidence in the system. I fully agree it's massively improved. It's still a giant bag of shit though.
Hm, I'm not sure what "confidence" you're referring to. And it's absolutely not a "giant bag of shit" on the roads I drive on. It's generally excellent, though not flawless.
I got the LED installed and it looks awesome. My door panels kinda rattle now tho but it was definitely missing the ambient lighting for sure. 😂
Same here. No FSD. No buy.
Yey, add 5dollar rgb strip inside and call it refreshed.
Hopefully they do something about sounds proofing and fit and finish, that has always been horrible on MX and S, the new 3 and Y atleast from China are superb.
How is, simultaneously, the Cybertruck a flop while the EV truck industry was not? It's #2 now, but was #1 last year, despite the overall low popularity of the segment. Is a product a flop if it is no longer the top leader in the market?
1 dollar wholesale. *maybe.*
Im shocked they dont have rear seat displays
Probably cheaper to produce
I see tesla offering retrofit for the highlands with fsd, of course by paying them, there is no way the model works with and without a front camera 100%
source: dude trust me

Don’t refresh it if it’s perfect
What refresh? The interior is the same
European here - European legislation would differ. You are not allowed to have a single point of failure for fully automated driving systems. This is why Mercedes has additional sensors (e.g. Lidar) and a redundancy-based design for their fully autonomous vehicles. So regardless of how good the machine learning model would work, they would never be allowed to have FSD unsupervised in Europe with the HW3 hardware specs.
On FSD there is no competition, Tesla is years ahead of anyone else! But there are plenty other people out there who don’t care at all of FSD….if you exclude FSD out of the equation, the MX is a old designed overpriced car which doesn’t bring any additional value for costing 2 times the MY
Why? In real-world usage for the *overwhelming majority* of drivers, that range difference isn't significant. What is your use case that carrying around more battery weight and worsening your efficiency would be the deal breaker for getting the vehicle?
You guys need to chill with this, the bumper camera is only used for parking/summon
Oh yeah? Can you cite the specific legislation that says that? I suspect you won't, but if such legislation exists, I highly doubt it prohibits Tesla's sensor setup. It would be hard to argue that there's a "single point of failure" on Tesla's cars in terms of the cameras. There are, in fact, multiple cameras on the car.
[removed]
Nah, I agree. The changes the Model S and X appear to be getting for their refresh are disappointingly insignificant. At minimum, I think it would have been an opportune time for a huge exterior overhaul.
It's the same size as an F150, the most popular pickup in the USA.
Glad to hear that. I bought a new 24 model X and would hate to see something nicer come out.
I mean...technically that is still the case with this minor refresh having more interior features and the front bumper camera. But yeah I guess you don't need to yell at the clouds for your buying decision haha.
Yeah, mine last week was going to pull out in front of a golf cart that was in the golf cart lane. This has happened twice. HW4.
If unsupervised actually ever makes it into production, the driver would be a fool not to supervise.
Good God, there oughta be a separate section just for these kind of stories.
Does it have a turn signal stalk? I can't tell with the image
I need to talk to Elon! The majority of that center console could go. If you have big feet or simply take long trips, foot room is so GOOD!! Obviously you don't want to lose the whole thing as the arm rest and cup holders are gold. However most of the stuff under the stash should either go or be easily removable.
Huh? Something nicer comes out every year, frankly with Tesla it is often every few months.
I'm actually hoping for all new electrics. By that I mean 48 Volt electrics, steer by wire, new battery tech with far longer range.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to talk to a Cybertruck owner from several states away, just about everything you say above about the Cybertruck is garbage. This is no different than local owner that gush with love for the truck. Cybertruck is currently out of my affordability range so all I have is the opinions of actual owners. What I have owned until last year is trucks from the big three. Frankly Chevy and Ford are producing junk in the affordable price ranges, with Engines that are constant problems. This leaves potential customers having to buy a big engined pickup they don't need, that costs as much or more than Cybertruck! The reality is Cybertuck is very competitive with respect to the way many leverage such vehicles. Me, I said screw it and went out and purchased a Honda. I'm too old these days to have to maintain poorly engineered pickups from the big 3.
Nope the truck is doing well, especially if you talk to real owners.
I hope the camera and lighting can be retrofitted to a ‘23 MX HW4
No! If you actually park next to one it isn't much longer than many Suv's and over all is lower to the ground. How do I know, simple I parked a Passport next to one. As for fleets, that depends upon your fleet. If you want to advertise on the truck it is an ideal platform.
You have to open the console to use the cup holder? Why
Im sure the truck as a truck is fine, im talking about what they could have done instead of that truck.
If it was an actual failure sales wouldn't be increasing. Do what I've done and talk to actual Cybertruck owners, the overwhelming vast majority just love the truck. As for the Lightening, would you expect any less from rabid Ford owners? Veyond that calling the lightening hobbled together is grosly misleading as Ford actually put in a good engineering effort. Lightening is a better engineered truck that then Rivian for example.
The EV truck industry has not flopped, I'm not sure where you get that idea. The biggest problem right now is economic uncertainty and that is largely driven by leftist media. This applies to all auto makers and if you look at the numbers honestly Tesla is actually doing better than most manufactures.
I'm not sure where you ge the idea that there are sides here. All one needs to is look at industry figures over the last 9 months, it hasn't been easy for any manufacture. The numbers also show that Tesla has done much better than average.
I wouldn't say that everybody that wants one has one, in fact there is lots of demand for lower cost cyber trucks. As for lots full of Cybertrucks where are these mystery lots?
Read the other half of the sentence you're replying to. I was using / when I maybe should have used "or" Everyone who wants one OR can afford one has one. This sentence covers those who cannot afford one. Unsold lots, try Google? There is a reason that until very recently Tesla wouldn't even accept them as trade ins. They can't sell them so they use as hell don't want them traded in too. EDIT: See below regarding demand for used models. No one wants one. As of May 2025, trade-in values for the Tesla Cybertruck have declined significantly. Estimated Trade-In Values Model Original Price (USD) Mileage (km) Trade-In Estimate (USD) Depreciation (%) AWD Foundation Series $100,000 ~10,000 $65,400 34.6% AWD Foundation Series $100,000 ~31,000 $60,500 39.5% Cyberbeast (Top Trim) $127,000 ~16,000 $78,200 38.4% These figures indicate a depreciation rate of approximately 35–39% within the first year of ownership, which is notably higher than the typical 20% depreciation for pickup trucks after one year.
Battery capacity especially in the cold north is as important as range. I could live with +300 mile range if it was in -10F weather. Tesla needs a battery formulation that doesn't lose so much in the cold. Then there is the issue of pulling a load. That should not reduce range below 250 miles. So yeah a bigger battery is likely the only answer.
Complete modernization of the electrics would be fantastic. This includes a 48 volt subsystem, new high tech batteries, version 5 of the computer. Even a few solar cells on the car even if all they do is warm the batteries in the cold. Drive by wire and rear steering would do wonders too. Frankly it is battery tech that really needs an update on this car.
And what’s „fresh“?
A cheaper model X would certainly sell. However dropping FWD is not the way to do it. Cheaper rear doors would likely save $1000's and not dramatically impact appeal. X&s need refreshing but it isn't the visual that needs to be addressed, it is the stuff not seen that is really obsolete.
That is an extremely odd reason to upgrade. Generally one is better off running an out of warranty vehicle for as long as possible. Even if you end up with some out of pocket repair expenses you are much farther ahead economically.
Sales numbers are fantastic if you compare Tesla with the rest of the industry.
The sales numbers have nothing to do with innovation
I agree, which is why I was skeptical with the claim that the Cybertruck was a flop.
I don’t know how you could look at YTD and q1 ev sales, and say that Tesla is doing better than most. Your username checks out though.
My 2023 x long range has been in service once a year since I bought it new. Total cost was estimated to be over $5k for issues with wheel sensors to falcon door sensors. This cost doesn’t include the time my car is out for and the costs associated with service logistics like rental cars and time off of work. I’d hate to own this car out of warranty from my experience so far.
lol I love how they try to hide these features as if we haven't seen them on 3's and Y's for some time now
Because Tesla wasn't selling a lot of cars in Q1, especially the first month! They literally shut down plants to refit. Even so their numbers where better over all in Q1 than the competition as there was a major slump in car sales.
The auto industry is slowly recovering as people realize the doom and gloom crowd is off its rocker. It will be interesting to how the market looks by the end of July. It actually looks like Tesla is pumping out Cybertrucks now, but realistically they need a lower cost version.
Well it is easy to imagine what could have been done! Hell i imagine Apple making a desktop id want to buy! I look at it this way the big three and even Rivian make what amounts to identical trucks. I speak of this as a former F150 owner that on more than one occasion walked up to the wrong truck! Tthe fact that Cybertruck looks nothing like the cookie cutters is innovation.
That isn't innovation, sorry bud
Ok I just scheduled service and asked them to replace peeling yoke with steering but they said it would be $700. You said they did this retrofit to steering wheel for free? I am in San Jose/Santa Clara, CA. Was there a trick to ask them for steering wheel replacement?
Very minor refresh but still cool! Probably mainly to slightly reduce costs, slightly improve the interior (light bar), and improve FSD performance (front bumper camera)
This is the place that installed it, but the link is to some combo with gear stalks. I couldn’t find just the laser engraved lights by itself. If you’re in SoCal then give them a call, install takes all day. https://smartesla.us/products/tesla-model-x-laser-engraving-interior-ambient-light?_pos=1&_psq=laser+engraved+ambient&_ss=e&_v=1.0
"economic uncertainty and that is largely driven by leftist media" lol bro, yep it's definitely the libs causing uncertainly, not the mentally unstable guy in charge who doesn't understand the basics of economic systems. Unfortunately a country can't just repeatedly file for bankruptcy like he did with his own businesses.
Obviously. What were the sales drops compared to other plant shut downs they’ve had for the same period? What were sales since then? What are sales relative to other EVs in the last two months? This isn’t hard, but it seems to be outside of your mental capacity.
I’m honestly disappointed by how bare-bones the update is. It feels like this is just what the Plaid+ was supposed to be all along. But to be fair, it was expected—there was a report a while back saying they’d only add ambient lighting and FBC, and that’s basically all they did. No slimmer headlights, no refreshed taillights, not even minor interior improvements. I was really looking forward to buying one, but at this point, I might just stick with the MYP dropping in July.
What I want to know is if Musk will finally add armrests to the captain chairs on the 6 seater.
Yes! Tell them to refer to service article #6079900 for the peeling yoke. They usually will let you choose but technically aren’t obligated to do anything besides a new Yoke. Wheel instead of yoke would be courtesy since they cost them about the same. Also here’s this if they need more: https://service.tesla.com/docs/ServiceBulletins/External/SB/SB-24-32-005_Replace_Steering_Yoke_Due_To_Peeling_Issue.pdf Good luck!!
Which tells me it's working as intended. Tesla just didn't consider this type of driving environment. Massive oversight for good operation, but at the same time won't affect many people. It's the worst possible scenario for either of us, because it isn't a priority for Tesla. I submitted the ticket multiple times a day for 3 straight months. An update hasn't seen a change in the behavior unfortunately.
Tesla is not refreshing the model X every few months.
Watching FSD w/ HW4 swerve off road into a tree on a clear and sunny day earlier this week does not bode well for unsupervised being anywhere "close" to being released...
2 lane 55mph county roads are totally fine for me. 2018 model 3 w/ EAP & HW 2.5... My car always stays perfectly centered in its lane except going around a bend, in which it does drift to the outer lane line a bit too far, particularly if the other side of that lane line is oncoming traffic. There's really no excuse for FSD being demonstrably worse than my legacy setup, except for the fact that they are using neural nets and don't have any real control on how the car is going to behave in any given scenario. Seems like a major issue to me... Submitting bug reports literally do nothing, FYI.
It looks exactly like my Y
Haven't even upgraded from my 2019 X, at the current rate the refreshes are going, I likely wont anyways
I think the main reason that Tesla is not approved for lvl 3 autonomous in the EU is that accountability shifts from the driver to the car manufacturer.
spotted? more like intentional leaks.there is no way those pictures are taken only from those points of view.
Why are you all calling it a refresh and then acting disappointed? It's not a refresh it's a minor update... Tesla does minor updates all the time to their cars. The "refresh" was back in 2021
😂😂😂😂. Yawn
Huh? Tesla hasn't applied for L3 operation anywhere. They're L2 only, and L4 in Austin, Texas next month (full liability).
He never said refresh you guys said that he said a little bit of love the stuff the new model y got. which is what they did not his fault yall just started saying refresh.
He never said refresh he said little bit of love and that they would add what the new model y got. You guys are saying refresh they did what they said to a tee.
the rumor was the new stuff the model y got that's what the executive said on the podcast and it looks like they gave just what he said
Thats what I said. We will see how Texas works out. Very Tesla friendly judges there.
Uh huh... You made it sound like they tried to release L3 but couldn't in Europe due to liability. That's not true. They haven't tried to release L3 anywhere.
I just said they dont have it. And that the liability is prob more an obstacle than the technology. I dont know why they dont apply. It might boost marketshare if they had it.
Looks like the new front camera in the refreshed Model X will be key for future FSD updates—older models might miss out on some features without it.
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=eu+legislation+autonomous+vehicles
It’s not only how much the FWD cost, but also how much do they cost for service needed, continues issues and customer complaints, loaner, etc
This looks like it was taken from an existing CarMax listing 🤣
If only they would invest in better charging and range.
Its more of an observation. Where is the better charging and 500 mi range cybertruck?
And if HW5 hardware is added, which is likely?
Idk I’m a lurker and I’ve always seen Tesla’s as overhyped. But the more Kia/Hyundai/BYD gimmicks the more I appreciate the Tesla’s. The new crop of EV’s are pushing me more towards Tesla or Ford’s approach.
More likely they’re going to be used for a 360 view. That was the most bizarre omission for a luxury vehicle in 2025
I think it’s interesting. As a manufacturing nerd I’m kinda just happy it exists. It’s completely irrational from a business perspective and Tesla definitely sacrificed a lot of resources to make it happen. But I like Deloreans, I like Edsels, I like Buells. If I had FU money id be nerding out with one. I love unique things but shy away from attention and am way way too pragmatic with my resources to ever buy one for anything but penny’s on the dollar.
Me too! I thought it was crazy when it was announced but by the time it came out it lost that first mover wacky concept aura. If they pulled an apple and had product for sale weeks after the event it would have been a success.
The light strip was originally supposed to launch with the Model S/X refresh in 2021/2022 but for some reason tesla didn't do it...
Starting? The exterior looks 98% the same since it launched.
When newer cars come out or the models within get updates. It starts to look dated.
I heard it will fly short distances.
No light bar is a huge miss.
Agreed, Capcity and Range are directly related. If they give additional range, that translates to additional cold weather range.
If only they gave us the choice and we could see what customers would choose... instead they tease us with a 500 mile Cybertruck then fail miserably at delivering anything close. Chevy Silverado is 470 mile range. I dont want a legacy manufacturer, but eventually its what I will get if tesla doesnt compete (or one of the other manufacturers out there). I am confident that many drivers dont need range, but again that doesnt matter, what matters is giving the option for peopel who do need the range.
So you didn't answer my question. Once again, for the *overwhelming majority* of drivers, the range difference isn't significant. And having more pack sizes increase production cost to appease a very small subset of buyers, not to mention the engineering issues with the extra weight and increased wear/tear on the vehicle (and roads, but no one ever seems to care about that).
Drivers don't have an option, so again, we dont really know what people want or can use because zero vehicles exist that can give the range that are being asked for except a single GMC/Chevy package. "We don't give people an option, and somehow they don't ever choose anything else" isn't really an argument.
Wherever Toyota's solid state battery and hydrogen cars are. They are promises, don't believe promises, trust facts and only facts.
The cars have a blind spot right in front of the car and can't see things that are close in the front, like a curb. To have true autonomous driving, I think that they will need to add that front nose camera. IIRC a 1ft tall object, needs to be about 3 feet from the nose of the car to be visible. A curb likely needs to be 4-5 feet away to be visible. NOTE: This is the same for us humans sitting in the driver's seat, perhaps even a little worse because the camera is closer to the front of the car and a bit higher up, so it has a better angle than we do when driving.
Apparently that is blocked by a patent
Everything I’ve seen says the front bumper camera will be available as a retrofit.
The good news is that patent expires in 05/2026
And yet still, you didn't answer my question. And yet again, for the *overwhelming majority* of drivers, the range difference isn't significant. How can I know this without someone being given the option of a dramatically longer range EV? Because we have a plethora of research data on driving habits thanks to safety organizations and insurance companies. The average driver drives less than 40 miles per day. You start looking at the data beyond just averages and calculate standard deviations and you'll see the number of drivers who would benefit from a 450 mile range EV is an infinitesimally small subset of drivers. And if you do a calculation to determine the time saved on really long road trips with a 350 mile vs. 450 mile EV, it is truly not much of a time saver (diminishing returns and all that). In short, the data doesn't support your stance for consumer desires, you're ignoring the detriments to having a larger and heavier battery, you're ignoring the increased costs to Tesla for engineering and production, and real world usage doesn't bear out significant time savings on long road trips by going to even longer range vehicles than the current long range vehicles.
Who cares if most drivers dont want it, a truck isnt for most drivers (shouldnt be) a 100k Model X isnt for most drivers (obviously). Its irrelevant. Many people want range, and one could argue thats why so many people are not taking their Cybertruck reservations (because Truck range is important). Its the reason I didnt take mine. I think youre wrong because youre talking about broad topic and I am focused on specifics.
And yet still, you didn't answer my question. And yet again, for the *overwhelming majority* of drivers, the range difference isn't significant. Sigh.
The left lane bias is a camera calibration issue. You should recalibrate your cameras until it stops doing it.
In which universe is a multi-year, multi-billion dollar CAPEX program for a niche product, simply an "experiment"? Expectations were a ramp to 250k deliveries per year. We're currently, a teensy bit short of that figure. I anticipate the major saving grace are the powertrain and electrical architecture breakthroughs. In time, these technologies will be integrated in future iterations of S3XY, but CT needs far more sales volume than present to recoup their capital outlay.
This is the crux of the issue. The vast majority of buyers don't want to own a vehicle that draws tons of attention, especially with Elon's political venture supercharging the profile of CT. While there is a small segment of attention-seeking buyers, they are not the consumer base that makes a product successful. It's regular everyday people that have the ability to move volume, generate the revenue needed to recover R&D costs, and grow margins.
Fully agree.
Tldr I see you love the cybertruck, congrats
When's this coming out?????
I wish they did the exterior . Only Tesla I’m waiting for
I bought my S a little over a year ago. Front bumper camera and ambient lighting were the two things that were *imminent* upgrades. Refreshed cars were on the assembly line *at that moment*. People were checking the manufacturing dates on their reservation in order to see if they would be getting the updates.
I thought they found an empty plug on the newer model X fsd computer for another camera? Last year people were talking about it.
Patents dont block technically, it's about id the royalties would pay off.
Thanks for posting this up!
Sometime this year
What makes this better? The inside looks great!
