Because the car doesn’t have the ability to differentiate between the menagerie of fauna. All it knows of is, I believe: pedestrian, motorcycle, car, light truck, tractor/heavy truck w/ or w/out flatbed or box. What’s kind of amusing is when it depicts a train as nothing but an endless string of tractors.
Animals are people, too! Or maybe PETA forced their hand to give animals the same ethical standing as people.
What's odd is the on screen display USED to display them as dogs (and sometimes motorcycles) and then they made a update a few months ago and now my dogs are always people now. Maybe it was displaying short people as dogs or something and someone was offended.
