Don’t have an X but I have an ‘20 S/‘26 Y pair. The new Y is nice but the S/X are luxury. The difference in materials, suspension, size, and the drive feel are real. Trying both ends is the only way to understand and realize even though the Y/3 are 50k cars they feel like economy cars compared to the S/X.

x is nicer. can be slightly more to insure depending on where you live.

You can find a used x 2024 for around 65-70k depending on mileage and condition. Do you think a used 24 x is worth the 20k extra compared to a new 26 Y?

X all the way. They gave me a X plaid as a loaner. It's like an entirely different car. They fixed every issue I have with my MYP. If they could bring that goodness to the Y. I would trade in a heartbeat . I'm trying to get a lightning myself but couldn't work a deal. I wish Tesla made a smaller truck it would be perfect. Whomever comes out with a midsize EV truck wins my $$

This month I traded my 2023 X for a 2026 Premium Y. The Y is much quieter inside and has about the same smooth ride as the X did. HW4 on the Y seems much better than HW3 on the X for FSD. Insurance is a lot lower cost even though the Y is new and the X was a couple of years old. Steering on the Y seems to be tighter.
I miss the second screen, larger trunk wider driver seat and extra leg area on the X. When parked in a tight space it was a lot easier to get my 122 pound dog in the back seat of the X with the gull wing doors.

I agree!!!!! I wish Tesla had a smaller less funny looking truck. That would be the winner for sure. What year model Y do you have ?

I have a big rear end and when I had the model Y, I had creased the seat when I sat down.

I have a 2020 MX and a 2022 MY. I wish I had not bought the MY. I believed the MY would just be a smaller, updated MX. It is not. There is ZERO comparison in terms of comfort and features between the two. The MY is stiff and sparse. It is a hightech economy vehicle. The MX is a true luxury tier vehicle.

Depending on color you might find a few under 60k with less than 50k miles. It really depends on your use case. The Y is perfect for me and wife, 1 dog, no kids. Costco and home depot trips no problem. Daily driven. Not necessarily more reliable but less moving parts and things to worry about like falcon doors. But again not just a size difference but also a ride and QOL difference. I was just planting that seed bc you have a lightning and you’ll lose that same kind of space/big car feel with the Y

Have you driven the new model Ys? They are so much better as far as ride quality compared to the previous years. I had a 2021 model Y and fully agree with you

Very true. I don’t know how often I would drive the lightning if I had any Tesla with FSD. So I was contemplating on trading my lightning in for a used X. But I would really miss the space of the lightning and pick up

I agree. I hate driving our 2021 MY due to the noise rattles and rough road feel. The 2026 MY is as close to the MX that I traded as it can be without air suspension.

How would you compare the x air suspension to your 2026 MY?
Noticeably better?

The ride was a little better and as others have said the Model X was a nicer car. At the time I had a 1.5 mile long driveway and it was nice to raise the air suspension when there was a lot of snow.
One thing I forgot to add earlier is the MX huge windshield and tiny sun visors were a pain. I spent a lot of money to tint the windshield from the mirror up. The sun would still annoy my wife coming in the passenger window that was also tinted since the visors couldn't block it. None of that is a issue in the MY.

No. Not in the market for anything new. Considered trading the MY for another MX but leaning towards Rivian because I tow.

X all the way. I was thinking of going from my MX2023 to a MY2026 and it felt like a downgrade in every way after test driving it. The MY is still an amazing car, but the X is so awesome

I have a 2023. I love it plus I’m stuck in it for the next 3 years or so but having that x gave me the itch for getting into a truck or something bigger

You drove a 26MY and it “was amazing”. Don’t test drive the X and you’ll never feel you missed out. Juniper will be new, has lower cost insurance, lower cost upkeep, and rides batter than a truck. Buy it and don’t look back.

Not sure what the value of a Lighting these days FORD discontinued making those just like Tesla will STOP making the X.

I think the 2026 Model Y Performance is a sweet spot! However, I could be my bias due to the fact that I just bought one a few months ago

I agree with your point! I own the 2026 MYP and it’s just above the vanilla MY. I think the MYP is more nimble than the X
