2019 Model X 75D – Battery replaced under warranty with 100kWh pack. Should I be concerned?

Hi Everyone, I’m looking at buying a 2019 Model X 75D (about 128,000 km). The seller provided a Tesla service invoice showing the high voltage battery was replaced in December 2025 under “HV Battery Limited Warranty.” The invoice lists the part as: **HV BATT, 100KWH, SX (1086755-00-K)** No cost charged to customer. It was done at a Tesla Service Center. What’s interesting is that this is a 75D originally, but the replacement battery is listed as 100kWh. When I saw the car, it was showing 334 km at 66% charge. That would roughly extrapolate to around 500 km at 100%, which seems closer to 100D territory than 75D. Questions for the community: • Does Tesla normally install remanufactured packs under warranty, even if the invoice doesn’t explicitly say “REMAN”? • Has anyone here received a higher capacity pack when replacing a 75D battery? • Is there any downside to a warranty replacement pack vs original factory battery? • Anything specific I should check in Service Mode before buying? Would appreciate insight from anyone who’s gone through a similar battery replacement situation. Thanks in advance.

I think they software lock to 75 but at least you can charge to 100% each day and not worry about damaging the battery

Hey man, if you don’t want it, I’ll take it.

Yes, they always replace with a remanufactured battery, typically around the same battery health as the previous battery.

Forgot to mention the price. It’s $44K canadian ($32K usd) including 13% tax.

One of my first Model S was a software locked 60 with a 75 battery. It was great for a few reasons. First, because you could supercharge at basically full speed to 100%, rather than the usual ramp down. Second, battery degradation seemed to affect the locked portion, not the portion I had access to. Third, whenever natural disasters were declared (think blizzards or hurricanes), Tesla would unlock the full battery for cars in the region, so I got those extra miles for the month or two of the disaster.
