What are y’all’s takes on pre owned Teslas, specifically Model X 2018-2022
Or should I just get a brand new model 3 from the Tesla app

I bought a used 2022 MX Plaid about a year ago and I've had no regrets. Got it for less than half the original price tag too. Zero issues with it, fantastic car. Wife loves driving it too and it was our first electric vehicle.
Beautiful, that’s a great plus , the price is great on pre owned models glad too hear
The Cybertruck can barely do truck tasks
Not interested in the cybertruck lol I concur
Elon described the X as the Faberge Egg of Teslas. I've test driven several and had a 2025 as a loaner for a few days. Neat cars for sure, but would I own one out of warranty? Probably not because it just is too complex with the systems for my comfort. I have a Juniper Y and that is hard to beat for value and versatility. Even quieter cabin than the X despite not having active noise cancellation.
If you are looking at a Model X, a new Model Y would be closer to it than a Model 3 The Model X won't have HW4 (FSD use), like a new Model Y or Model 3 will have!
That is correct , however the price point is what I’m looking at , a 2022 pre owned model X is roughly the same price as a brand new model 3
Other than the doors, what systems are more complex in the X than the Y?
Aside from the Falcon Wings, the auto presenting and closing front doors, air suspension, that I can think of off the top of my head. I could add the very large front windshield would be much more expensive to replace. Finally, a discontinued model. I know, they said it would be supported but eventually you start running into "indefinite backorder" problems with parts.
Since I basically did both (not an X, but I have a 2026 Y and 2020 S), I may have a valid opinion for you. I'm guessing you're shopping 2 different cars based on budget ie a new 3 could cost the same as a used X depending on year. You should define the type of car you want first and how you're going to use it, don't base it on price. I say this bc they're 2 totally different cars, and while the new 3/Ys are very nice the S/X have a TOTALLY different feel to them. Not just in size and speed. The S/X are "luxury" cars and while they are not gold standard BMW/MB/Lexus, you feel it when you sit in them compared to the 3/Y, Especially the older S/X gens (at least for the S my 2020 Raven feels more luxurious than when i sat in a 2024 Palladium). My Juniper is nice and zippy driving around town, feels more like a go-cart, is nice on the inside but doesn't have a plush luxury feel. My S feels like an executive car. It's not apples to apples but I hope that context helps a little. Also I would be EXTRA tedious inspecting used plaids/performance trims; since those cars are practically supercars they may have been driven harder and had a lot more strain on the drivetrain/suspension. Higher risk of repair/problems. Also higher insurance. I was considering a Perf/Plaid S over a long range and immediately shut that down when I got the insurance quote, the noise of tire replacement frequency, and the increased risk of issues due to the absurd power they have.
