It’s AI working there, there wasn’t a train coming so it crossed safety. Trust me guys it was working as expected 😉

Jaguarmadillo 2026-03-10 06:18

Impossible, we were told it was a solved problem nearly a decade ago and I’ve heard there is/was one whole unmanned taxi in Austin doing 800,000 miles a day Jesus, if they’re going to fake the news, fake it about stuff super-genius hasn’t perfected like wing suits for pigs or brain chips for potatoes

Beartrkkr 2026-03-10 06:24

Probably where Elon's hubris for not using Lidar and radar is coming into full view.

Zari_Vanguard1992 2026-03-10 06:27

Stock up 15%

Smartimess 2026-03-10 06:36

Didn‘t Tesla say that they solved the problem with the cameras not identifying orange and red color in sunny settings a year ago? And that is a huge malfunction since the crossing barriers were in motion with blinking warning signs.

Confident-Sector2660 2026-03-10 06:39

Robotaxi does not cross train tracks unsupervised. This is also HW3 whereas HW4 does stop for train barriers Also waymo did not cross train tracks until this year and they still have problems

plumpedupawesome 2026-03-10 06:40

Teslas have at least always kept one thing consistent: trash quality, garbage software and shittier materials. Comes standard in every Tesla.

AustrianMichael 2026-03-10 06:41

Yeah. That’s just Elon bias because he hates trains.

Fancy_penguin08 2026-03-10 06:41

Their coding was probably: IF train =0; PASS100%. Written in excel.

za72 2026-03-10 06:41

There's going to be fleets of Tesla powered taxis working for you while you sleep

hobovalentine 2026-03-10 07:29

It's a feature not a bug. The Tesla saved a couple minutes of commute time so well done Elon. /s

Busy-Explanation4339 2026-03-10 07:44

This will be totally fixed in the next release. Six weeks maybe, nine weeks definitely.

Busy-Explanation4339 2026-03-10 07:46

Also that (faked) youtube video from 2016 showing level 4 around their Cal factory.

314159Man 2026-03-10 08:01

It seems to me, the problem is not Elon's infantile reckless bullshitting, calling half baked solutions "autopilot" and "full self driving", the problem is that enough people keep believing him when he comes out with the next hyperbolic promise to try to ramp up sales and the stock price.

HeadPaleontologist40 2026-03-10 08:22

When will Elon change his tune and put some real sensors on his cars?

grogi81 2026-03-10 09:15

Was there a train is sight? What's the big deal then...

Downtown_Category163 2026-03-10 09:20

Cool nothing like mopping up the residue of a hobo orgy first thing in the morning while I have my coffee

GlumExternal 2026-03-10 09:47

I don't know US timings, but our design time in Australia is 5 seconds from booms horizontal to train arriving at the crossing. That's assuming the booms have operated correctly and the train is not speeding. 5 seconds might seem like a lot, but when it's all that's between you and being hit by a 2000 tonne train,

za72 2026-03-10 09:49

That's what you call a soup kitchen. There's a note left in the back... Thanks for the F shack, signed Dirty Mike and the boys.

GlumExternal 2026-03-10 09:53

(this is Australian timings, I don't know US) We start the lights and bells, 7 seconds later the booms start lowering, 13 seconds later the booms reach horizontal, 5 seconds later a train passes the edge of the crossing. If your system can't detect that, it's pretty simple, your system can not be allowed to enter a trains right of way. We are not going to upgrade our railway crossings to meet a standard automotive companies dream up. Hell, even when there are traffic lights nearby, we send a warning signal to their controller, and if it doesn't set the traffic lights to red quick enough, we override them.

NeverVegan 2026-03-10 10:30

Full Self Dying

WalterRyan 2026-03-10 11:39

This is a HW3 car which still uses v12 software. Should at least be mentioned somewhere.

Munkadunk667 2026-03-10 11:51

I have FSD and I let it get away with some shitty driving occasionally as long as I'm not impeding anyone... I certainly wouldn't have let it get even half as close as it did past that white line before I hit the brakes. That said, you can't hit the brakes in a Robotaxi so this is a huge oversight for sure. Edit: I think y’all misunderstood. I correct the car, in the middle of it doing something dumb/inconvenient so it can learn once the data is sent back to Tesla. I don’t even let it get near as bad with others near me on the road. Also, yes Elon bad.

MBSMD 2026-03-10 12:07

FSD mistake or not, what was the guy in the driver’s seat doing while the car was driving? Taking a nap? How didn’t he have more than enough time to stop the car on his own? Clearly not even paying attention.

beren12 2026-03-10 12:42

A train that may take a kilometer or 2 to stop.

beren12 2026-03-10 12:42

Clearly you haven’t been to a Tesla sub before

DreadpirateBG 2026-03-10 12:59

We people do to. So why not FSD

JRLDH 2026-03-10 13:04

BuT WaYmO IsNt PeRfEcT EiThEr. Wahhhhhhhhwahhhwahhh. Why are you all so mean to Elon?! So unfair. And that poor Robotaxi.

Designer-Salary-7773 2026-03-10 13:06

When is “Full Self Driving” not “Full Self Driving”?

BlueMonday2082 2026-03-10 13:06

Maybe you do…

BlueMonday2082 2026-03-10 13:10

FSD is basically like having a toddler sit in your lap and steer. He can basically do it…but you have to watch him like a hawk with lightning reflexes or he might instantly kill both of you. So why not put the toddler in the back seat and drive the car yourself? It doesn’t require anywhere near the attention or reflexes.

MBSMD 2026-03-10 13:17

lol. Sounds like it, but I used to drive a Model 3.

DangerousAd1731 2026-03-10 13:26

Hahahahhaha

pailhead011 2026-03-10 13:38

lol, you just woke up after five years?

pailhead011 2026-03-10 13:40

Yeah, it was called “partial self driving” back then.

pailhead011 2026-03-10 13:41

In V++

WalterRyan 2026-03-10 13:42

No, just an older version on older hardware

pailhead011 2026-03-10 13:43

Wait, really? I thought full was the thing with the latest version.

beren12 2026-03-10 13:57

Yeah, it was sarcasm, but it’s true. Way too many people trust it far too much.

ManifestDestinysChld 2026-03-10 14:13

There's definitely a fraudulent confirmation bias effect going on. Elon does not actually have that many rabid followers. He has a handful, and also a whole bunch of bots on the social media platform *that he owns*. He is actively masquerading as a popular person, but he's actually just 1 dork with a lot of phones and AI. There has got to be a US Attorney wiling to bring a layup of a stock manipulation case based on how he uses Twitter.

hashswag00 2026-03-10 14:28

Appears FSD is still Faux Self Driving. But another random person said he drove across the country and didn't touch the wheel. Someone is lying. I'm betting it's the one without video proof.

bonfuto 2026-03-10 14:35

I always wondered why his obvious stock manipulation always goes unpunished.

bonfuto 2026-03-10 14:38

I'm not sure lidar works reliably in this case, it's a line sensor that works on objects at the level it's aiming at. So it would probably miss the crossing arms. But the crossing arms should have been detected by the cameras. It probably was recognized and it just ignored them. on edit: I'm not sure about radar though. Probably would at least cause a signal that a reasonable algorithm would decide shouldn't be ignored.

spam__likely 2026-03-10 14:56

Someone just the other day insisting he is a brilliant engineer...lol Multiply the idiot by thousands, and you have his fan base

Tind_L_Laylor 2026-03-10 15:24

So, you're intentionally training it to misbehave.

Tind_L_Laylor 2026-03-10 15:26

I'd be shocked if Tesla FSD doesn't invent new science by the end of next year.

Hughley_N_Dowd 2026-03-10 15:26

Seeing this made me wonder. Is the driver: A) a complete moron who doesn't know where the brake is located? or B) someone with enough money, who's willing to bang up his car just to prove a point? Inquiring mind must know.

HotDogOfNotreDame 2026-03-10 16:25

Please change your behavior, or stay off the roads. You're normalizing deviance. Not just in your car's software, but in yourself. Just like FSD makes mistakes, you make mistakes too. And the more you normalize deviance, the more you will make them.

VitaminPb 2026-03-10 16:49

You need actual evidence in court. And if a lawyer managed to get a subpoena for information, Musk would just refuse to hand it over. Probably illegally delete it, then just pay a fine or pay somebody to get the lawyer and judge disbarred.

Beartrkkr 2026-03-10 18:52

When it’s not.

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:13

>Robotaxi does not cross train tracks unsupervised. Wow, that's some shitty FSD then. >This is also HW3 whereas HW4 does stop for train barriers Didn't Elmo all autonomous driving a solved about a decade ago? What HW version did the cars have then? What version will they be on when they finally give it up? Obviously, they won't give up because they can't make it work, but because they're not a car company! > Also waymo did not cross train tracks until this year and they still have problems Ahh yes, when you can't defend your point, resort to whataboutism!

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:16

> We people do to. So why not FSD Because Elmos been claiming FSD will be better than human drivers, so why not now?

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:18

> This is a HW3 car which still uses v12 software. What version of hardware where they on when Elmo called it a solved problem? That was about a decade ago. What version will they be on when they finally give it up? You know, cause they're not a car company?

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:19

C) An idiot who tells everyone that they use FSD hundreds of miles a week without a single problem (because they ride with their eyes closed...)

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:21

> When will Elon change his tune and put some real sensors on his cars? He'll never admit he's wrong on anything substantive. Don't worry, they're not a car company any more, so soon they'll simply stop making cars, and totally not because their markets have dried up.

nlaak 2026-03-10 19:21

> When is “Full Self Driving” not “Full Self Driving”? Always.

QVRedit 2026-03-10 19:33

They had better add this scenario to its training…

Equivalent-Month7310 2026-03-10 20:51

I wouldn’t get in one

Fragrant_Equal_2577 2026-03-10 22:07

What‘s the problem? It is „Full Self-Driving“, right? It doesn‘t claim to be „Full Self-Stopping“. This feature comes with a payable SW upgrade.

robotbike2 2026-03-10 23:18

Great analogy.

First-Ad-7960 2026-03-10 23:31

Toonces the driving cat is safer.

First-Ad-7960 2026-03-10 23:32

Doesn’t Elmo say that accidents are data? Once a few cars get hit by trains they will have the data to fix this.

alochmar 2026-03-10 23:53

Feature complete, baby

zeeper25 2026-03-11 00:55

I just got banned over on the actual Teslalounge because they don’t want to discuss Elon’s emails with Jeffrey Epstein….

WoahIdidntknowthat 2026-03-11 02:48

Damn, they were really willing to end it all, huh Is this a cry for help?😂🤣

Electrical-Profit367 2026-03-11 07:04

Could we please get potato chips in our brains instead?

Daryltang 2026-03-11 14:37

Wait you hear about It’s HW3 FSD 12.xx These Tesla fanboys shit on their fellow Tesla owners and laugh at them for having older hardware/outdated software versions that should work with FULL SELF DRIVING

Daryltang 2026-03-11 14:39

It’s SUPERVISED. so it’s the driver’s fault!

Daryltang 2026-03-11 14:43

It’s ok. The mods of that sub does not want any Elon news on that sub Reddit and its instant perm ban They just gonna stay in their bubble that Elon does not own and control the Tesla brand

Daryltang 2026-03-11 14:44

Wait till you learn that HW4 is not enough for FSD. Too bad for those sucker on HW3 right?

Daryltang 2026-03-11 14:45

[ Removed by Reddit ]

zeeper25 2026-03-11 15:26

They were discussing sightings of the cybercab, all I asked was, "what is going to happen first, fully autonomous cyber cabs or Elon getting arrested for child rape" It is a legit question.

DreadpirateBG 2026-03-11 21:35

Come on you must have heard of people who have done this. Why wouldn’t assume AI would be any better than a person.

RareSeaworthiness870 2026-03-12 00:28

At least it didn’t drive through them and stop while it waited on the next train? At some point, someone should probably put the ban hammer on Tesla self-driving until they PROVE they are safe. Just a crazy thought, I know, but all that deregulation only seems to help the 1% in this economy while the rest of us are getting ran over by Teslas.

BlueMonday2082 2026-03-12 07:15

Why wouldn’t I assume a person would be a better driver than an AI? Just how *bad* of a driver are you admitting to be?
