It was just for the stock pump before earnings

dynamadan 2026-02-20 04:57

Everything is for the stock pump. I’m pretty sure there is an entire division dedicated to just coming up with ideas to pump the stock. Anytime it starts coming back to reality some stupid stunt will give it a 10 point boost.

VitaminPb 2026-02-20 05:16

It would be interesting to see a chart of stock pumps and earnings announcements/dates.

I remember years ago arguing with a Tesla fanboy when he bought one. He said that when it was ready, he was going to use his Tesla as a private taxi for life. I told him that before that happened, his car would be obsolete or broken. He scrapped the car when the warranty expired; they were asking for 25k for the battery, to rebuild the rear motor, and 6k for the charger/controller. kekw. There must be thousands of teachbros who were deceived and deceived themselves while paying inflated prices for their Teslas with ridiculous interest rates. Especially those cyber-garbage cubes.

I think it's easier to list promises they've met than list all the promises they've missed.

ElectricalGene6146 2026-02-20 06:14

Yeah who doesn’t want their new vehicle taking an 800 mile roadtrip before you take delivery also getting it delivered dirty with a chip in the windshield.

MarmotFullofWoe 2026-02-20 06:38

Do you think he figured out he had been scammed or no?

rdu3y6 2026-02-20 07:35

But yet people still refuse to accept that Musk is the world's biggest scammer.

DevilRenegade 2026-02-20 08:06

Given how unreliable FSD is, it'd probably show up outside your house looking like the car from Mr Mercedes.

Engunnear 2026-02-20 08:51

The headline came up different when I opened the article. The difference was plausibly a post-publication change, so I’m going to say that it’s not a Rule 5 violation.

BabbatheGUTT 2026-02-20 09:04

All I see is another failed delivery promise and blame someone else, Trump/Bannon copy book much?

Pitiful-Assistance-1 2026-02-20 09:39

Ofc not.

daveo18 2026-02-20 10:35

He definitely still loves the car

analyticaljoe 2026-02-20 10:38

I remember that one! That was some pretty good completely made up bullshit marketing. It tracks all the way back to ["paint it black"](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tesla-autopilot-staged-engineer-says-company-faked-full-autopilot/). Tesla continues to have the opportunity to preface these things with "how we hope to operate someday in the future" and instead suggest quite strongly "this starts in just a few months." They are like the boy who cried wolf at this point.

I will say I had my smoothest auto purchase experience with them. Bought online. They emailed it was ready. I said I hate the whole process and minimize the pickup please. He said walk in with your drivers license out. It was less than 60 seconds from when I entered the door until I was driving away.

caveinnaziskulls 2026-02-20 11:13

His name is Jared Birchall. He runs the private hedge fund manipulating tsla.

ShortFatStupid666 2026-02-20 11:29

“But Elon said…”

ShortFatStupid666 2026-02-20 11:31

That must be painful…

ShortFatStupid666 2026-02-20 11:31

I think Trump has him beat…

-bad_neighbor- 2026-02-20 12:41

This company is a time bomb that the government will end up bailing out

strike2867 2026-02-20 13:17

Let's be honest. Musk is a liar. The car is garbage for the price point. The drive train is great compared to ice. Most of the tech bros went from a corolla to an 80k car, so they obviously think it's amazing.

xMagnis 2026-02-20 13:29

He'd probably lie and make false claims even if there was no stock. It's just in his nature.

Beezelbubba 2026-02-20 13:31

Kind of like the "new" cybertruck that is only going to be available to order for 10 days to drive up the sales numbers for the end of the quarter

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-20 13:47

The guy dancing in the neoprene suit says everthing everone needs to know about Tesla, and all other Mollusk "enterprises." It's all one huge sham!

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-20 13:50

Only a moron make a major purchase like this without seeing what they are getting. In the case of a car, that means a test drive and an inspection of the vehicle just before taking delivery.

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-20 13:50

Christine!

RosieDear 2026-02-20 14:46

It's very easy for Elon to gain a little bit of reputation. Stop promising. Stop lying. People, especially Tesla pushers, act as if he MUST lie, deceive and over-promise. No, he doesn't. He can be honest.

ShortFatStupid666 2026-02-20 17:06

A liar with a system. He lies…stock goes up…he drags it out as long as he can…starts something else Rinse & Repeat

SophonParticle 2026-02-20 18:09

Tesla stock should be $20.

strike2867 2026-02-20 18:34

A system that prints money, assuming you can put a pin in any morals you may have.

nlaak 2026-02-20 19:23

> Only a moron make a major purchase like this without seeing what they are getting. I don't know if they're still doing it, but when Tesla couldn't make the cars fast enough, that was the only way to get them. You sign for the car after it arrived, and then got to see it.

nlaak 2026-02-20 19:24

> It was less than 60 seconds from when I entered the door until I was driving away. So you're one of those idiots that didn't bother to inspect or test drive a car before you bought it.

ShortFatStupid666 2026-02-21 00:59

In his case having a soul is a liability So he’s good…

michelevit2 2026-02-21 01:34

Elon lies.

WildFlowLing 2026-02-26 20:47

Yeah anyone with a brain knew this was a stunt. You could infer that they may have failed it multiple times but only shown the 1 success. Especially since they’ve never reported it again.
