Stock price goes up!
Imagine a month where there is one fewer accident, the percentage increase will be amazing! /s
7 that we know of. They suppress information and settle before things go public, I can’t believe it’s only 7.
That is 7 accidents where a driver or passenger wasnt required or didn't intervene... We have no idea how many accidents have actually happened because FSD disengaged and they put the blame on the driver or passenger
7 while FSD was still engaged... Funny thing is FSD will disengage and then they put the blame on the driver/passenger and don't include it in the report
have you heard... pretty soon money won't matter anymore!
This headline is sensationalized and a bit hard to believe. After all the work that's been done by Tesla in this field, all the testing and stringent safety protocols, you expect me to just go along with this? This headline implies that Tesla has self-driving cars operating somewhere. Right next to the lot selling the 2020 Roadster and the Semi, probably.
Remember they have a safety driver with a kill switch. That prevents an unknow number of accidents. I'd love to know how many times the safety drivers have had to hit it.
While that could be true in their normal cars, it can't be the case in their Austin taxis since the safety driver is in the passenger seat.
7! of what 20 cars in the program?
Didn't I read there are only 20 cars in the program in Austin? That means in 5 months, 35% have crashed? I'd rather be on a road full of texting drunks.
And how does that compare to the number of normal taxis during the same amount of time. Because that’s what actually matters Of course the numbers need to be adjusted for the number of robotaxis compared to the number of normal taxis and the samples need to be from the same location but without that data this doesn’t mean much of anything. And we also don’t know who’s at fault. Surely that matters…
Could this driver fail to notice also? FSD can and probably does silly stuff that would take any common sense expecting person by surprise
Or maybe it’s just one rogue taxi that constantly crashes :)
Or the same "supervisor" that keeps napping.
Waymo has 0 accidents anywhere. That includes Austin
I thought it was 10?
The first weeks they had like 25-35 per week in the Limited Austin trials, I can't imagine it got better
It also includes when the remote monitor has to intervene, so doesn't matter if safety driver was in the passenger seat, there had always been a remote monitor who also can intervene, they had to move the safety driver to the driver's seat tho because the remote monitors were not always able to intervene properly
There is also a remote monitor who intervenes, but they started failing which is why the safety monitor has to be moved to the driver seat
They will have two million of them on the road by the end of 2020 I hear. That cross country FSD trip by the end of 2017 is gonna happen aaaany day now.
Some of the accidents were with fixed objects… and we don’t know who’s at fault bc Tesla redacts the accident narratives
