Tesla webpage about Premium Connectivity, with the notice about the price hike at the top: [https://www.tesla.com/en\_au/support/connectivity](https://www.tesla.com/en_au/support/connectivity)

Is this to subsidize grok (assuming free account) being integrated?

Only in the sense that Tesla needs money and this is a way of receiving money.

If you buy a car that needs an app, that's on you.

This is to fund Elon’s $1 trillion pay package

I get the joke, but that package will be funded by creating stock out of thin air and diluting existing stock. Your joke would actually be the *better* option for other shareholders.

Bought my car before I knew about Elon being a fwit but did have the connectivity for a few years, cancelled it about 12 months ago, have not missed it in the least. I now avoid updates and am just going to run the car till it dies. Really regret buying a Tesla.

nah.... they probably realized a couple of days ago that AUD != USD

I cancelled premium connectivity like 3 months ago after having it for years. Really not missing anything except traffic visualization in the map while not actively using routing. I use Spotify on my phone via Bluetooth since the functionality is better than the built in Tesla Spotify app.
Recommend trying without premium connectivity.

Elon will be coming for you with a contract saying you can't use your phone in your car if he reads this.

I canceled my premium subscription back in Feb 2025 when Elon tweeted that Canada is not a real country.
I miss it way less than anticipated.
TIP: On a samsung phone, you can create a bixby routine that turns on your hotspot when connected to the car bluetooth and turns it off when disconnected from the car. It works well for me. I could not find the equivalent on my wife's iPhone though.

I cancelled earlier this year. Haven't really missed it - I can tether when I need it. Less money to a weird little guy. I have been trying to automate tethering with the Tesla using Tasker on my android phone, but haven't had much luck yet. Still, not to hard to start a hot spot manually.

Dump the car and get something that works.

Just hope that it's death doesn't involve being trapped inside when the batteries catch fire. You don't want it taking you along for that ride.

I actually do have a cassette player in my car. Not sure if it works or not. In the 14 years I've had the car I have never tried it. I did take out the CD changer to replace it with an ipod.

That's cheaper than the U.S. price. It looks like it's mainly due to AUS depreciation against USD though.

The people that pay a subscription to the car they already own are as smart as those who would pay a subscription for heated seats.

The irony: the more Tesla acts like a tech firm, the less patient drivers become with its glitches.

Just use your phone hotspot. Make an automation that starts your hotspot automaticly when phone bluetooth connects to your car

Use "Shortcuts" app. Google/grok instructions for set up, works very well
