Stock up 4%, they are finally in the taxi business 🥳

Zorkmid123 2025-09-03 16:17

Sorry, I realize this post is kinda similar to an earlier article I posted. But this article also points out that Tesla is moving the safety monitor to the driver’s seat for all robotaxi rides in Austin, not just for rides on freeways. This is apparently due to a new Texas law that went into effect September 1st. Of course, Waymo has a permit to have no driver in the car for their robotaxis in Austin, but they have better technology than Tesla.

Wonder if this pump has anything to do with the California DMV decision coming down soon.

ShotBandicoot7 2025-09-03 16:21

Source?

SolutionWarm6576 2025-09-03 16:24

The hearing ended at the end of July. The Judge in the case has 30-60 days to post her decision. So probably within the next week or two.

vonwwijk 2025-09-03 16:26

Does the driver get paid?

The_Lutter 2025-09-03 16:31

Elon Musk is a genius. He's invented the taxi. Maybe soon he can invent the railroad again too?

Zorkmid123 2025-09-03 16:34

And after that, they'll invent horse drawn carriages! A true full self driving vehicle!

pcw3187 2025-09-03 16:39

This is not a taxi. Just a car the picks you up and someone in the drivers seat gets you to your destination. The future is here! So much innovation from that old taxi service

Consigno10 2025-09-03 16:40

Double digit declining auto business, no more subsidies for BEVs, solar and batteries, adding drivers to their autonomous business while real autonomous taxi business keeps adding cities supported. Sounds like a trillion dollar business to me 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sunshine3432 2025-09-03 16:41

A 100 I say, a 100, my good sir

wootnootlol 2025-09-03 16:41

Well, it's a progress! But it's concerning that progress is moving to the left, not to the right. Hopefully Robotaxis are not infected by woke virus.

Highway_Wooden 2025-09-03 16:42

There's enough Elon dick riders that would volunteer for that.

Ragnarok-9999 2025-09-03 16:44

RoboTaxi with no Robo? Like Uber, ha ?

ShotBandicoot7 2025-09-03 16:44

Add 50-100b alone today! Pump pump… until it won‘t.

love-broker 2025-09-03 16:45

So more supervision.

wongl888 2025-09-03 16:45

You are wrong! Elon invented the Taxi with FSD (Supervised)! 🤣

wongl888 2025-09-03 16:46

It is …. An Uber!!!

Nydus87 2025-09-03 16:46

Weird state of the world that I legitimately cannot tell if you’re joking or not lol.

gbe28 2025-09-03 16:46

He's going to drop battery power and move on to steam power!

sidc42 2025-09-03 16:47

Not only is there a driver, there's also a remote person monitoring the car so in effect there's TWO drivers thus making it much safer than an old fashioned taxi as long as you're not trapped in the back seat with doors that won't open because the car is on fire. So really expect 100 points to TSLA for reinventing the taxi experience by having two humans to pay. This guy is playing Milo Minderbinder-level 4D chess.

baz4k6z 2025-09-03 16:50

That stock is really a meme. I guess it's the flywheel effect at play

UnicornGangstar 2025-09-03 16:50

100? TSLA to $2500.

foo-bar-25 2025-09-03 16:59

He already tried that. It didn’t work.

[deleted] 2025-09-03 17:15

These drivers have the brain chip, right? Just making shit up with this guy..

[deleted] 2025-09-03 17:16

Funny, I’ve always thought that linking cars together would rocket efficiency.

[deleted] 2025-09-03 17:17

Next, you can drive the car yourself ! What an innovative idea.

Late-Dingo-8567 2025-09-03 17:24

What a vote of confidence

Sharaku_US 2025-09-03 17:31

It's a good joke if you're joking.

Consigno10 2025-09-03 17:33

When do retail investors bail forcing the billionaires to quit buying TSLA on all bad news to shore it up? When a MAGAt gets his entire family killed using FSD?

Key-Beginning-2201 2025-09-03 17:38

As I said, ADAS 2.

silentgiant87 2025-09-03 17:44

so from cyber taxi to just….taxi

Ill_Football9443 2025-09-03 17:54

That's only the start of the innovation! Soon they'll come with a crank bar which will supersede pesky digital starting methods.. a few rotations while standing in the weather is all it will take.

ColorfulImaginati0n 2025-09-03 18:00

And now Ladies and Gentlemen…what we’ve all been waiting for! Introducing: Full Unsupervised Supervised Monitored Self Driving (Assisted) with Safety Monitor (Driver Side) This new innovation is set to change the Robotaxi game forever!

No_Pen8240 2025-09-03 18:03

Per Grok -- Why Tesla has the driver in the driver's seat # So, Does Tesla Still Need to Report Robotaxi Data with a Driver in the Seat? **Not under the new SB 2807 permit regime.** Because Tesla now places a safety driver in the driver's seat—a human legally "in control"—the system operates under **driver-assist (Level 2)** logic, not fully autonomous (Level 4+). As such: * **They aren’t required** to obtain the new autonomous-vehicle permit. * **They aren’t bound** to provide detailed autonomous system data, minimal-risk condition protocols, or emergency response plans under SB 2807. * **Reporting requirements** associated with Level 4 operations (e.g., disengagements, crash reporting to state regulators) are **not triggered**. So were they considered L3+ back in June - August??? Tesla’s robotaxi operations in Austin launched in June—with a human monitor in the front passenger seat—thus avoiding the full-blown classification as a “driverless” or Level 4/5 autonomous system. Now, from September 1, Tesla has moved its safety monitor into the driver’s seat, effectively reclassifying the service as a Level 2 driver-assist system, where the human is considered in control. This shift lets Tesla sidestep the new autonomous-vehicle permit rules triggered by SB2807 permits and rules regulation.

Sorry-Programmer9826 2025-09-03 18:09

it's evolving just backwards

FutureBiotechVenture 2025-09-03 18:10

Self-replicating engine AND self-driving

[deleted] 2025-09-03 18:17

Individualized trains since he hates mass public transportation

T1442 2025-09-03 18:18

RoboTaxi is now safer. It is as safe as a human.

Acceptable_Rice1139 2025-09-03 18:29

Radio, on the internet

huuaaang 2025-09-03 18:32

I wonder if anyone has looked into the power of Steam yet. I’m sure Elon can figure it out.

foersom 2025-09-03 18:36

This is how the Tesla taxis work in the Las Vegas tunnels: One way traffic, no other traffic, only Tesla cars, and still a driver in each car.

NicholasLit 2025-09-03 18:41

Elon's safety chaperone Prevents any horseplay or fun times

ArQ7777 2025-09-03 18:42

As Cathie Wood and other Wall Street giants support TSLA, Elon's stock will surge on good news and BAD NEWS!

astrocrat 2025-09-03 18:44

Lmao

ArQ7777 2025-09-03 18:44

It is a new kind of taxi. Human assisted AI taxi.

generally_unsuitable 2025-09-03 18:48

Maybe he can invent a subway that's less efficient than a car.

zippopopamus 2025-09-03 19:02

So kool and practical its revolutionary, move the person to the driver's seat instead of the passenger's, that's GENIUS

Conscious-Bee-5691 2025-09-03 19:16

Musk recently said the Stock value is 80% of robotics. Seems Like he gave up the idea of Full scaled robo taxis and is on a new scam and make it big

ExcitingMeet2443 2025-09-03 19:24

Maybe he'll train Optimus to be taxi drivers?

ExcitingMeet2443 2025-09-03 19:25

A somewhat inebriated human.

ExcitingMeet2443 2025-09-03 19:27

>where the human is considered in control So, who gets sued when someone (inevitably) gets hurt?

charliecar5555 2025-09-03 19:31

Anyone who uses batteries in their electric car is a complete fool, just like using lidar and radar for self driving. That's why only smart Tesla owners own a Tesla Steam™. Granted you have to carry a trolly with a half tonne of wood in the back but its 100% renewable energy!

ExcitingMeet2443 2025-09-03 19:32

> Hopefully Robotaxis are not infected by woke virus Any robotaxi that doesn't try to kill someone, at least once, on every trip, is woke.

y4udothistome 2025-09-03 19:33

Moving forward at incredible speed

charliecar5555 2025-09-03 19:34

Instead of hiring drivers just have Musk declare that all shareholders who love and care about Tesla will help the company by piloting robotaxis. Millions of divorced Musk investor fanbois will appear within minutes.

y4udothistome 2025-09-03 19:35

Well they say he’s wicked smart

y4udothistome 2025-09-03 19:36

For his next trick no more cabs onto the robot Optimus prime.

wootnootlol 2025-09-03 19:36

Concerning.

Darkstar197 2025-09-03 19:45

If Tesla was serious about growth he would have just licensed the self driving and rented the cars to uber drivers

HickAzn 2025-09-03 19:47

I will Sound like a broken record, but insist on repeating: we will not compare Tesla to Waymo until: 1. They have driverless cars 2. The driverless cars are available to the general public It’s still testing phase until happens.

Pancheel 2025-09-03 19:49

It avoids killing itself during the ride so it's perfect for the job. And the only subproduct is compostable material!

Pancheel 2025-09-03 19:51

But the robot can move an apple to the refrigerator, very slowly. Clearly the best product in human history.

Pancheel 2025-09-03 19:57

Lol, the cringe tunnel. It's a tourist attraction.

pimpbot666 2025-09-03 20:10

Does anybody else wonder what the point is of a safety monitor if they’re in the passenger seat?

KnucklesMcGee 2025-09-03 20:17

Ah, so it's just the Vegas Loop without the tunnel. Surely this will be the answer to congested traffic.

AustinBike 2025-09-03 20:19

CyberHorse!

ZanoCat 2025-09-03 20:40

He should invent sending himself to Mars in perfect isolation

Emotional_Goal9525 2025-09-03 20:51

It is more profound than it sounds though.

T1442 2025-09-03 21:02

Well, I meant it as being as safe as the human driver that now sits behind the wheel.

Manning88 2025-09-03 21:39

Tesla recreated Uber!

UncleDaddy_00 2025-09-03 21:39

Shit! Maybe we can go all the way back to the early days and have a flag person out front to warn the pedestrians.

mrbuttsavage 2025-09-03 21:46

> However, SB 2807 introduces stricter oversight for truly driverless operations, including requirements for safety data reporting, first-responder interaction plans Transparency aka Tesla's kryptonite.

John-AtWork 2025-09-03 21:52

Somehow this will make the stock go up.

Acrobatic_Code_7409 2025-09-03 22:17

I like the mid-century modern vibe. 19th century of course.

readit145 2025-09-03 22:47

He already did! He replaced the trains with slower moving Tesla and used a private tunnel road instead of track. So more cost and less efficiency, clearly playing 4d chess while the rest of us plebs play the regular game. Fucking get me off this ride.

CowEducational7672 2025-09-03 23:28

Hahahaha amen!

slavetothemachine- 2025-09-04 00:18

No doubt the stock somehow went up with this backwards leap.

VDD65 2025-09-04 00:19

Sound more like "Robotaxi driver assist"

sircrispin2nd 2025-09-04 00:33

Horatios Drive?

soldieroscar 2025-09-04 00:43

So basically texas said that tesla is so unsafe it needs special rules.

duderos 2025-09-04 01:58

He ain't lidaring...

Odd-Adagio7080 2025-09-04 02:46

Sounds like a sustainable business model to me!

Odd-Adagio7080 2025-09-04 02:48

The taxi with a more expensive car and TWO people per car on the payroll.

friendIdiglove 2025-09-04 02:53

He’s definitely wicked.

friendIdiglove 2025-09-04 02:57

They should call it *Tesler.*

y4udothistome 2025-09-04 03:04

Agreed

friendIdiglove 2025-09-04 03:06

Remember, they’re not safety drivers, they’re safety *supervisors.*

friendIdiglove 2025-09-04 03:07

Yeah, they could call it “Tesler.”

sidc42 2025-09-04 03:48

Why stop there? He says Optimus robots or the future of the company. So I say robots pulling rickshaw's are the next big thing to replace cars.

JohnHazardWandering 2025-09-04 05:05

Theres a grift going on in Nashville and they're starting to build it. The state approved it, no questions asked. The city said 'WTF are you doing?'

FlipZip69 2025-09-04 06:18

An apple placed in a predicable spot moved to another predictable spot. Change that apple with a glass and see if it puts it in a cabinet it has never seen before.

habfranco 2025-09-04 06:48

Who cares, no real customer are using them anyway. They got all the influencers videos they wanted with no one in the driver seat anyway. It’s all a marketing stunt since the beginning. And the product is TSLA stock.

ephix 2025-09-04 08:38

Why use cameras when the human eye can do the same thing?? To the moon!

Gildardo1583 2025-09-04 09:12

How about we call this new form of transportation a Taxi.

cantusethatname 2025-09-04 12:22

And according to Trump’s new “no tax on tips” plan you don’t have to tip them

Pancheel 2025-09-04 15:04

Not like that! You broke it x(

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2025-09-04 15:17

Two words - TESLA Monorail!

Several-Ticket-1024 2025-09-04 16:33

But what if they disagree? I heard that two sensors are bad for making decisions…

ukulele_bruh 2025-09-04 21:00

Man, talk about ruining something by overcomplicating it ! Could just have a single driver driving a cheap car lol, now you have to have two highly trained individuals to operate one car lfmao.

Scared_Edge9194 2025-09-05 05:00

To be fair he invented uber.

Scared_Edge9194 2025-09-05 05:01

So calls it is lol. The world is insane.

Careful-colin76 2025-09-07 10:47

TSLA shares are going to pop guys! Genius lol

Ardenpops 2025-09-07 14:56

Sooner or later even the Tesla fanboys will realise that they have been conned.

MagicMan77433 2025-09-08 01:16

they are too far up Elon's ass to admit they have been conned

[deleted] 2025-09-09 05:42

Ooohhhh! Like a real train?!?

DrPotato231 2025-09-10 07:56

That’s right, they aren’t being forced by authorities and regulations to have no safety drivers.

NasTmo 2025-09-14 02:21

I’m sitting in the back seat of one currently in Austin, with the supervisor still in the passenger seat. When is this supposed to take effect?
