I didn't see this dscussed anywhere. It's the first video where the safety person has to get into driver seat that I've seen. What's even worse is that it was some collab with a Tesla youtuber and his robotaxi first blocked the road by trying to turn when there was no space in the parking lot and than for some reason didn't let them out, went back on the road and back again into the parking lot: https://youtu.be/anAYGAwOnWQ?si=ecOhSq8sffgKFbuf&t=1945 They also can't stop themselves from taking shots at waymo also present in this parking lot. Waymo which just did what 2 robotaxis failed. It's a circus. So many mistakes in the span of few minutes.

On top of all the technical problems with self-driving cars -- it's crazy that you're supposed to just sit in the middle of the road and "call support," who then tells you to *get out in moving traffic* and just drive the car yourself -- we can't forget that even if they did work perfectly they wouldn't be the solution we want to traffic and traffic accidents. Obviously this is a pipe dream, but the real solutions to these problems are trains and walkable cities. I mean just look out the window of this ride and note how much of what you see is parking lot.

Ok, when you start your video with your names and fluffed up titles overlaid, then proceed to say just very stupid shit like Tesla will quickly ramp up cars to flood a market with 5000 a day, you just lose all credibility. Depends on where you are, but a lot of American drivers are not polite at all lol It's not a coincidence that they've only tested these Robotaxis in urban areas that have wide, multi-lane stroads because doing so anywhere else would cause traffic jams that would undoubtedly result in road rage incidents. This is in Austin, Texas. Where I live, these things would not work at all because there are too many single-lane roads with no signage, and there's also a culture of waving people in, yielding right-of-way because you can see the person has been waiting a long time, etc. These systems have no way of interacting with that.
Yeah, I’ve driven in Austin and the roads are easy wide and flow well. The one ways streets in the centre confused me though. My experience driving in US was overwhelmingly that everyone was polite and patient

What most people don’t understand is that the 0-60 (0-100km/h) “high score” is only possible for a little bit. It can’t do it continuously until the battery is out.
You know who else won't turn left? UPS. They have a rule against left turns. If UPS doesn't need left turns you don't either.
These are not even "taxi" problems. I could understand if it did not do a pickup or drop-off exactly correct. But these are simple FSD problems. Something they claim is ready and something they have been saying is ready for years. Tesla has some 250 critical interventions per 100,000 miles. That is one intervention about every 400 miles. That is during decent weather. Waymo and human drivers are below 1 per 100,000 miles to put it in perspective. Humans in all weather conditions.

There was another video where the "passenger" (aka Tesla influencers) had the chance to film the Robotaxi taken over by the safety monitor, because it was "stuck" in front of a puddle. It was AIDRIVRs video, the safety monitor never actually had to move over afaik. Tesla had connection issues with the car and couldn't remote it so they offered them to order another car instead of the safety driver hopping over.

Robotaxi is clearly not scalable at this iteration. in fact, if (or should I say when) it hits somebody, the whole project can be put on hold indefinitely. on one hand, having safety monitors is necessary. on the other, they openly admit the whole project is in beta stage. quite risky running them around tbh from multiple povs
I think their recent analysis they could manage austin with "only" 200k model ys, if they allow private people to chip in during peak hours (Where they probably dont need their own car). I do wonder when they plan on breaking even on that.

No. robotaxi uses Unsupervised FSD. Basic Tesla uses supervised FSD.
People need to realize that about investment "gurus" in general. Laws of probability dictate that some analysts will make correct guesses and some, based on shear luck, will get multiple guesses right in a row. That doesn't mean their next guess will be any more accurate.
