What happens if my car is supposed to deliver itself, but it is raining that day? Whoops!!!

Charming-Tap-1332 2025-06-28 14:06

Elon Musk: “There were no people in the car at all and no remote operators in control at any point. FULLY autonomous!” Musk wrote on X. #Elon has ZERO credibility, and so, his statement is most likely false.

Ready_Register1689 2025-06-28 14:06

Meanwhile I collected my new car at the dealership. Coffee, finger food, car reveal as they pulled the cover off & a full tour of the car & all features. Yeah Tesla, you can stick your shitty customer experience where the sun don’t shine

bonfuto 2025-06-28 14:09

I am not going to be surprised to hear that this car crashed after its new owner trusted the FSD a little too much.

luv2block 2025-06-28 14:10

1) If true it should be easily repeatable (why just deliver one? Why not deliver 500?) 2) If true, Musk has screwed himself, because like Trump, no one believes anything he says now. The boy who cried wolf syndrome is in full effect. Unless you can prove it, with third-party independent observers vouching for the authenticity of the results, people will assume you're just lying again. 3) Lastly, what a surprise that just as Tesla's sales are crashing suddenly the company is making breakthroughs in autonomous driving... with self-delivering cars and robotaxis... but oh wait, one self delivering car and 10 robotaxis with who knows how many teleoperators. This shit is not rocket science. If the product worked like you say, you'd just launch it into the world and enjoy raking in billions. You wouldn't restrict yourself to 10 robotaxis and 1 self delivery.

BidAccomplished4641 2025-06-28 15:17

Wow, just in time to bring this up on the quarterly call, just like the taxis... The poor sales numbers will be blamed on this. The new Model Y sold poorly because people were holding off, waiting for it to be able to deliver itself.

SC_W33DKILL3R 2025-06-28 15:20

Well the car has a camera in the back filming it so it's rigged to some degree. They picked the car and route they wanted. It was obviously supervised as well as legally they couldn't do it otherwise.

pcw3187 2025-06-28 15:24

Imagine the Tesla rolling out of the dealership into the parking lot…by itself…wow

Dommccabe 2025-06-28 15:26

So they can't drive themselves without a guy with his hand on the button to cut the engine and a chase car because they turn into oncoming traffic and hit parked cars...... BUT they can drive without any help from factory to someones's home?? Press F to doubt.

BidAccomplished4641 2025-06-28 15:27

Watched the full video. The car pulled up and parked itself in the "No parking fire lane", everyone cheered! Unreal.

IcyHowl4540 2025-06-28 15:29

Why do you think they delivered it a day "early"? XD There's a 25% chance of rain in TX.

MJFields 2025-06-28 15:30

So was it operating legally en route?

Charming-Tap-1332 2025-06-28 15:32

Agreed.

doomer_bloomer24 2025-06-28 15:34

Desperate stock pumping. Remember the 2016 “Full self driving” video ? This is 100% staged, pre mapped, and possibly remote operated

MJFields 2025-06-28 15:35

Franchise automobile dealership owners are generally politically powerful, respected members of their communities. I would imagine such a network would have assisted Tesla's growth and customer satisfaction in a number of ways. The downside is that it would have made the accounting fraud more difficult to pull off without getting caught.

SolutionWarm6576 2025-06-28 15:38

Yeah. I’d rather drive to the dealership, like someone else posted. More fun.

BidAccomplished4641 2025-06-28 15:45

If you have a trade in I guess you’re out of luck unless it can drive itself to them…

coffeespeaking 2025-06-28 15:52

Did they deliver it to an ‘influencer.’ (On a day when it wasn’t raining.)

Fuskeduske 2025-06-28 15:52

How many safety drivers?

Fuskeduske 2025-06-28 15:54

Slight error in your second point, just like Trump there is a heavy % of the population that has a subpar enough IQ to trust him 110%

RCA2CE 2025-06-28 15:54

Did the guy live in the parking lot at the factory? They’re always bullshitting and embellishing - it’s like a fraud

Texas_Sam2002 2025-06-28 16:14

Didn't they say this would be standard operating procedure like years ago? And, of course, no one should take anything Tesla says seriously. At this point, they're as bad as the Russians with regards to credibility.

BrewtalKittehh 2025-06-28 16:19

Not in the rain they didn’t!

Bnrmn88 2025-06-28 16:28

They delivered it from one end of the factory to another

Fuzzy_Inevitable9748 2025-06-28 16:53

Don’t worry if not they will just change the laws so it is :) also on the books are new laws that will classify any pedestrian being hit by a Tesla as a terrorist attack against Tesla and will result in immediate deportation of said victim, I mean pedestrian, I mean terrorist.

Real-Technician831 2025-06-28 16:56

And when it doesn’t have escort car and chase car to provide a safe bubble.

Dommccabe 2025-06-28 17:16

Reminds me of this; [https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tesla-deposition-self-driving-claim-1.6717564](https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tesla-deposition-self-driving-claim-1.6717564)

30FootGimmePutt 2025-06-28 17:28

So putting aside how real vs staged this is, why would want this? Delivery is cool but if I get a car delivered the first thing I’m gonna do is walk around and make sure it looks alright. Who do I complain to if there is a giant scratch on a door panel or something? Maybe I’m nitpicking.

NotFromMilkyWay 2025-06-29 05:29

I am not sure I want to own a car that is remotely operable by Tesla.

kensaundm31 2025-06-29 17:29

Well he's either lying or the car was bought by the very last worker on the production line and 'delivered' in situ at the factory.

OraxisOnaris1 2025-06-30 20:30

No, I think that's an entirely legitimate question. Whose fault is it if this supposedly self-delivering car shows up with damage or clips somebody on its way? I highly doubt Tesla would take responsibility because the car has left the dealership. Could claim that any issues with the car happened after it left the dealership so it isn't covered in any way.
