Swing and a miss. Story of tesler. I can't see how they make the regulations for September work.
Who could have imagined this?
Oh no! Oh, well, anyway.
No surprises here, it’s just Elmo’s modus operandi.
Bet fools will still buy the stock.
Everything computer…except for the dude in the drivers seat of the “driverless” taxi.
Tesla missing a planned date is simply old news.
Why is the stock price still maintaining its value? You’d think investors would have wised up to Musk’s scams by now. Investors are supposed to be smart, right?
Hahaha
Have good personal insurance if you take one of his exploding taxis!!
This may seem like a silly question, but if you're paying someone to sit in the passenger seat to correct potential errors by from a controller in Asia, how is this FSD?
It's being manipulated up. Retail investors don't have enough money. The question is who needs the house of cards to stay intact
What? Elon missed another deadline? Impossible! /s if you couldn't tell
This is guaranteed more than anything.
Shocker!
Stock will jump based on this great leap forward
Full Self Delusion
Where‘s that Louis de Funès meme?
Every stock goes down tomorrow except defense stocks and tesla 😆
Yet another musky promise missed.
just one big bag of fraud
Shocked, shocked I am.
Just like the 2020 roadster, they are using the delay to add more features and capabilities! Robotaxis are going to fly now, coming soon at some arbitrary future date!
[removed]
> except for the dude in the drivers seat the employee is in the front passenger seat (and doesn't have a steering wheel). (see: the article)
Congratulations Elon! You’ve invented people with Teslas driving for Uber!
🎻
it isn't. but based on video a few days ago in another sub, they don't have a controller, there are buttons on the screen that they can push if an emergency situation develops and they want to stop the car NOW.
[deleted]
It's a taxi but with extra steps 🤣
Stock will totally rise on this because a missed deadline means a robotaxi didn't kill anyone last week! Tesler bulls are the most glass half-full bastards on the planet.
I surprised myself colored.
Real talk, it's a catch 22 for investors. If Musk leaves, then the entire value of the stock crashes like 90%, since it's predicated on Musk promises about full self driving, autonomous human robots, even going to Mars even though that's an entirely different company. So, they want Musk to stay, because it lets them delude themselves into thinking Musk can deliver. This has been going on for so long now, at this point, that they're now committing a massive sunk cost fallacy. They've put too much belief into Musk, they cannot abandon it without a massive hit to their ego. They will believe every lie, they will call every moved goalpost a massive success, they will downplay every failure.
This article is total bs. They didn’t miss any deadline. Robotaxi was planned for today, and it launched today lol
That’s so you can say it’s managed by AI. Actually India.
Is that really the logo?
What are you talking about? Of course it's FSD*! \*^FSD ^is ^a ^marketing ^term ^and ^not ^indicative ^that ^the ^system ^is ^capable ^of ^driving ^it*self* ^fully ^without ^human ^intervention
Still going to crash anyway 🤪
Stock up 11 cents on this news apparently. At least as of right now. I’m sure it will moon tomorrow because they haven’t killed anyone yet.
If Elmo would have just made an announcement that they were going live with robotaxis in Austin for the headline but the official communication was they were being cautious and safety minded for public safety it could have been a easy win but dude is a snake oil salesman so he can’t help but to lie and over promise
They’ll maintain that an empty glass is completely full.
Not yet
There’s an electricity joke in there somewhere.
Delivering the "impossible†" late‡.‡† †Thing someone else has already demonstrated ‡After the self imposed deadline that was issued by Musk after someone else had already demonstrated it ‡† For substantially more money than was promised.
Tesla stock up 14% tomorrow
What if ... the co-pilot was female? Does this change the game?
Looks like a vinyl sticker I would have made in my high school graphics arts class thinking I was so cool.
> Robotaxi was planned for today, and taxi launched today lol FTFY
What do you call a Robotaxi Safety Driver? A cab driver.
Remotaxis
Hereby I coin a new term for the future humanity: FSDWP: full self driving, weather permitting.
I can't exactly vape and... do the other thing I was going to do... if there's an observer in the passenger seat, now can I?
My Flabbers are Gasted...
Bad news: Stock goes up.
Remember, he’s not a safety driver, he’s a safety *supervisor*. 😉
"I'm shocked! Shocked! Well, not that shocked".gif This means +15% for TSLA, or?
No one killed. Bullish.
What! No way!
We’ll call it *“Tesler.*”
I can get a robotaxi anywhere. No maps, no geofence, no person in the car. Coast to coast
Did they blow up
Yup this is good news for Tesla so now they can work longer to improve it. 👍👌
Oh look, the thing everyone predicted happened.
[Indeed there is :D](https://www.thedrive.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/10/reddy-kilowatt.jpg)
Yup. Any news for this company always drives the stock up good or bad
Is anyone surprised, I mean at all?
It’s all computer now.
Monday, stock will go up 10%
I wonder why he doesn’t sell stock manipulation-as-a-service? So, for example, for 100 million dollars he will announce on Twitter that your company just merged with Tesla. You make a quick billion, he pockets 100 million and the SEC shows up holding their dick in their hands and not much else. I think im legitimately about to email this idea to Elon Musk. 🤔
No, he’s the sucker to blame when the car kills somebody.
Tesla has no chance of winning the autonomous driving race, the narrative pushed by the media and talking heads financial analysts won't make any difference. Even if Tesla did win out it's a niche market that doesn't justify Tesla's inflated value.
If I’m going to have a stranger in the car with me, they might as well be doing the driving. Uber over robotaxi in my mind.
It's to allow for career advancement, because he's a supervisor.
Stock has been disconnected from reality for years.
Do these Twsla vehicles used as taxis use LIDAR? If so, this is a delicious Catch 22 situation! To make the taxis work they have to use LIDAR. But, they have been claiming for 8 plus years the cheapo camera route was best, and LIDAR was for fools on their production vehiclesequippedwith FSD. The whole "leader in autonomous cars" story looks more shaky than ever. What will Elmo do? Got it! Change the name of the driver need actually drive the frigging thing to something next, like, " temporary autonomous systems assist resource" , TASAR!!!! The stock goes up. Genius. 😅
Everything’s computer!
I love that they’re comparing themselves to Waymo and other driverless vehicles saying “of course we will have safety drivers in the car, it’s always been the plan here at Tesla ”
They'll have a man walking in front with a red flag next..
Entire stock market is a meme stock at this point.
No LIDAR, only cameras.
Did you actually read the article? >Because stock Teslas have fully computer-controlled brake and acceleration, they might equip the driver with electronic pedals. Some reports have suggested they have a hand controller or other ways to command the vehicle to brake. Even if the "passenger" doesn't have brakes or an emergency stop button. They could easily grab the wheel, if necessary. They are also backstopped by dedicated remote monitors who can apply emergency stop. The "invited" customers will likely be mostly Tesla employees or friends and family. Bottom line is, we may never know how successful this test actually is, because there are so factors stacked in favor of success. It's basically only slightly more autonomous than supervised FSD, which is quite good, but requires human intervention at least every hundred miles or so, on average. It appears that Tesla is still two years behind Waymo at this point. Tesla's FSD could theoretically leap-frog Waymo's tech, as it is less dependent on pre-mapped geo-fenced areas, and uses a more generalized approach overall. But this test isn't starting off well.
Guys I'm beginning to have doubts /s
"goes with safety driver" So they literally just launched a taxi service in Texas and made national news? Would I get national coverage if I operate a taxi in Houston?
\[Unsupervised\]
>Tesla FSD is known to disable itself if rain obscures some of its cameras IDK, I have a tendency to hail taxis when it's raining.
Tesla has almost caught up with Waymo in 2009
A death will double the value.
I just saw a video of a guy in YouTube riding one and he pushed the button to leave early (to test it) it didn’t stop and then it lost the address of where he was going so it kept driving…I hope he made it out alive
Well clutch my pearls
Can you call them safety drivers if they aren't in the drivers seat? Safty Riders maybe?
Link?
Can you call it a safety driver if they aren't in the driver seat?
Get too close to a cybertruck? Electrical discharges are a serious health hazard
So, taxis?
Is he going to reschedule for 8/8 at 4:20? And then cancel as he does?
And stock of this pos will go high tomorrow despite all the international political drama😀
https://www.youtube.com/live/Dlsp7XaI1yQ?si=_qilsSEwEqnQdYxa I believe around 1 hr 3 min mark … I did check it they did make it out alive tho but still quirky check it out
As long as Elon continues to deliver the fraud, the stock will go up. None of them care if anything works or is real anymore.
Too busy working on the roadster
Stock will be up 20% on this news
They are also paying people to operate them remotely. So I'm real interested to know what the business plan is here.
Because just like Bitcoin, the guy(s) who have the most shares can't sell, so they just keep buying more to try to pump it to the moon.
Well no shit! Hyper loop anyone?
How did they miss their launch date?
*Finally something delivered (Something that is 10 steps back from what we had before but something)
With extra steps
The safety driver? Only a matter of time
I watched several rides being taken this evening(UK)/afternoon(US) and all these chaps had their right thumbs on the door release at all times. Most likely that's been wired to initiate an emergency stop, and the steering wheel can also be grabbed quite quickly too.
I understand the cultish fan boys keeping the price propped up but what I find amazing is that there seem to be quite a few pension funds with sizable holdings. I would love to know what they are thinking!
Is there a third Roadster, then? He was making the second Roadster, or at least he said he was, in **2017**!
Seems like the car was in a turning lane on its way to stop, but the tech buzzed in and they “got it going again” but without a destination. It’s not clear from the video what would have happened if the tech didnt buzz in.
The second version was supposed to be released in 2020, and one of the more recent delay updates included someone (may have been Cathie Wood?) suggesting that the delay was good because it probably means they are adding more features to a car that is already years behind schedule.
When he said "We're making it now!" in 2017, and people paid deposits, I imagine they were expecting to take delivery that year or the next, though. How long does it take to make a car? Even handcrafted Rolls Royces only take c. 6 months!
Have you ever seen one of those drivers education cars? It’s that but virtual. So yeah it’s still a safety driver.
I guess we should be relieved he bothered, considering he had all the NHTSA self-driving experts fired a couple months ago
Tesla needs some actual good news in order for the stock to crash.
They didn't miss the date actually, that's made up. Also, there is no driver, so "safety driver" is false too. There have been 0 interventions since launch. There were 100 something rides given in the first 13 minutes. The Geocage is half of what waymo covers in Austin. Not bad for the first 8 hours
Does this surprise anyone. Did you forget the unveiling of their humanoid robot?
Lmao all this squealing from tesla about how they'll launch robo taxis only to launch literal taxis with cab drivers. So much innovation
Lol this was so nutty I thought it was satire. But you believe this, don’t you?
But it's because they're being super paranoid about safety. Calls it is.
I wonder if the 'safety' driver also has to perform as the dancing robot at events?
Leon has a 100% success rate. At missing deliveries and making broken promises. It's a mystery why anyone listens to him anymore.
Say Robo taxi is a success, stock goes up, profit. Seems pretty clear.
Exactly. The question isn’t whether or not this qualifies as FSD. The question (from a stock perspective anyway) is whether Elon can sell this to his fans as a win or not. Honestly, he probably can. At least to start.
*sad trombone* Yet another K-hole A-hole L.
TSLA +10% tomorrow, obviously.
so uber ?
How much did the stock go up? 20%?
Why do we even need robotaxi? There are technologies that we don’t need. Imagine the ramifications to economy, not beneficial.
Tesla stock to the moon.
Musk over 10 years ago: "driverless trucks.. we can do them today!"
It turns out it’s not all computer.
I move fast. We should move together.
Brilliant 5D chess move by Elon.
Except the safety monitor is in the front passenger side.
No way! /S
The only taxis in the world with two drivers!
Two weeks...
Ikr, lol. Stock is up. You should, he's always on twitter.
Job title: "liability shield"
Who cares if they blow up? Everything else he made does.
For the record, Tesla stock is inexplicably up 8%.
fuckit — I’ll do it live !!!
From what I've read elsewhere, the "supervisor" has a button they hold that can tell the car to stop in an emergency. I think expecting them to grab the wheel from the passenger side is risky. It would have been safer for the supervisor to sit in the driver's seat, but that doesn't look as cool. Also, the initial passengers seem to be Tesla influencers, so they're likely to be pro Tesla. Even so, people have pulled a bunch of clips of the Tesla's pulling weird, dangerous moves from their social media.
>I think expecting them to grab the wheel from the passenger side is risky. Agreed. I don't think they are counting on the passenger to steer on a regular basis, I'm just saying if the car drifts a bit at low speed every couple of days it would be less disruptive than killing the car remotely.
