That's horrible! That really cheapens the look of the vehicle. What a shame.

Front end of the S is a tragedy. I bet they’re planning on switching to the new design language soon.

Kind of hideous to be honest

2025-07-14 22:09
New version reminds me of the (personal opinion) ugly pre-facelift cone-nose front. But maybe that's in style given some of Mercedes new EV designs (which again personal opinion look like ass).

2025-07-14 22:09
What's the tragedy with the current S design? I think it looks objectively modern and sporty. Not really sure what needs to be changed.

2025-07-14 22:16
Timeless design however this latest update is a step back. So yes perhaps a new design entirely is needed soon.

License plate holder is awkward, filled in badge area looks cheap.
Bangaladore
2025-07-14 22:30
Sorry when I meant current I mean prior to the filled in change. I guess I don't care about the license plate holder as my state requires it.

2025-07-14 22:31
I won't argue about the latest update, looks cheaper. But its a small part of the front end so I just don't think huge changes are needed.

This is cheap compared to the pre-2025.

They had the model s plaid at a Tesla store I went to recently. It looks really good. The seats are more comfortable than I woulda thought. Too bad this “update” was a bit of a joke.

The s is just terrible . It reminds me of the old school model s with the flat black front part again. Makes it look older than the refresh
Udarag
2025-07-14 23:21
The license plate holder is meant to come off. No holes under there. So really once you remove that, Model S has had a design thats stood the test of time.

It definitely isn't, the air intake for HVAC is all the way at the top of the windshield behind the frunk

Is that white and X? And is that badge factory? I'd be interested in getting one.

It's the same badge the X has had since release just now black from factory

What's wrong with the model 3? It's I think one of teslas best looking cars rn.

I really dislike the blacking out of everything as a "higher" trim.
[deleted]
2025-07-15 01:52
Yes, in 2021 they blacked out all the window surrounds but kept Chrome badges. Now they have black badges as well

Bleh, the old one is WAY better....this is a $80K+ car. Why is the front fascia this chintzy???? Terrible.

I prefer the 2022-2025 look especially when you glossy black the logo vs the standard chrome.

I feel bad for those who live in states/countries that require a front plate. It ruins the clean aesthetic of the front.
[deleted]
2025-07-15 11:20
Thankfully you can remove it. I did it to my model S
[deleted]
2025-07-15 13:12
That's the model X It keeps the original front fascia but just with updated black badges. The model S gets the new " filled in" fascia which is pretty much universally disliked even if it adds some more range
climbingrocks2day
2025-07-15 14:16
That makes sense. I wonder how much range that actually provides.

2025-07-15 15:06
This definitely should be tested, Model S already has a pretty low drag coefficient as is I'm curious if this will help at all

The entire "refreshed" interior is chintzy now.

The worst thing about the new S front end is the license plate mount.

I never get Tesla. They probably will consider this a re-design. Just like the model Y "re-design". They change little things (headlights, etc) and call it a re-design. While larger car manufacturers will completely change the look of a car. Tesla has had the same tired designs for way too long. I think this is the main reason their sales are down all over the world.
