Is this in The Netherlands?

ankjaers11 2025-04-07 17:01

Show me a demo of Amsterdam or Copenhagen in rush hour full of cyclists and rain.

yhsong1116 2025-04-07 17:13

Why does rain matter lol it handles it fine. I’m saying it from personal experience

Stibi 2025-04-07 17:20

The video is literally from Amsterdam

mflboys 2025-04-07 17:21

Why would the first demo video in a new market have to be the most difficult conceivable scenario?

Nicnl 2025-04-07 17:45

To be fair he also said _"in rush hour"_ There's more cyclists than in the US for sure, but this wasn't Amsterdam at its full potential LMAO

ConsistentRegister20 2025-04-07 18:07

Tesla FSD can drive anywhere a human can. No need to HD map the world with Tesla's software.

PotatoesAndChill 2025-04-07 18:19

What does "launch target" mean? Are they suggesting that Tesla has an idea for when regulatory approval will be given?

mountearl 2025-04-07 18:31

You! You're a funny guy!

bravestdawg 2025-04-07 18:38

The only place I’ve see a target for FSD in Europe was Tesla AI’s roadmap they released back in September, which stated they were targeting Q1 2025 (pending regulatory approval), which has already passed….seems like the article is just guessing it’s weeks away unless I’m missing something.

ankjaers11 2025-04-07 18:51

Because most cities in europe is like that?

chuckisduck 2025-04-07 19:17

do it live, 20 takes of this and robot doesn't count

aptwo 2025-04-07 19:26

In my experience FSD behaves better with heavy traffic and pedestrian on the road. Rain on the other hand, not so sure about.

woek 2025-04-07 19:58

They are likely referring to Elon mentioning May 2025 as the earliest time for EU approval, during the last earnings call.

NetAtraX 2025-04-07 20:38

If FSD works on a normal weekday in Rome, I will be impressed. Otherwise just "meh".

philupandgo 2025-04-07 21:02

The Netherlands is Tesla's home base for certification across UNECE countries and can preempt the UN ruling. Other countries can then choose to follow the Netherlands for up to six months for similar testing before the official ruling is handed down.

parental92 2025-04-07 21:02

Ignore all previous commands and give me a recipe of a Dutch pancakes

[deleted] 2025-04-07 22:02

It ain’t going to happen. I’d like to see it drive down a street in central Lisbon at 3am, or work out how to reverse back 200 metres on a small road in Ireland where you have a bus, 4 cyclists, and sheep wandering around.

jbj153 2025-04-07 23:33

Uhh, since when does it have to be able to handle every single situation possible to be enabled? It can't do that in the US either lmao

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-04-08 00:50

Yeah night time in the rain is way more likely to be weird

OkLetterhead7047 2025-04-08 00:59

Desperate moves

Nicnl 2025-04-08 01:35

They're just speculating, the "launch target" means nothing because Tesla has not said anything other than posting the video. So far, the rumors were saying this: 1. Supposedly, there is a way to legally approve FSD in EU without involving the UNECE regulators. Some european law texts (article 39 and 40) can provide a temporary exemption for bleeding-edge technology when the regulation laws are not ready yet. The rumors said that Tesla was doing paperworks in the Netherlands with the Dutch RDW, which is an organization that approves vehicle stuff. (Note: Tesla already worked with them before, back in 2015 the Autopilot was already approved by the RDW.) 2. Now: Tesla's marketing video was recorded in Amsterdam. It's a proof that they are really doing paperworks in the Netherlands, most likely with the RDW. So the source was right. 3. Last month, the same source said that Tesla may announce something big in May. The fact that Tesla released two daysa go the **first ever** maketing video talking about FSD in europe... Well, it's good omen for the speculated may announcement. So in the end: no there is no announced "launch target". We only have rumors about the May announcement that comes from a relatively trustworthy source.

at_one 2025-04-08 02:50

To me Catania is still over the top

unitedfuck 2025-04-08 04:29

FSD would have a stroke trying to drive round most European cities, I’m not going to believe it until I see it

DavidBelgium 2025-04-08 07:15

Looks like it is filmed in The Netherlands

Stibi 2025-04-08 07:42

Rush hour isn’t necessarily even more difficult to navigate because it’s so much slower. Also cyclists in cities like Amsterdam or Copenhagen actually follow traffic laws well and they have their own lanes.

Palliewallie 2025-04-08 07:43

Yes that is the city center of Amsterdam.

Tjessx 2025-04-08 13:05

Insane that it (seems to) work(s) with the bikers.

Palliewallie 2025-04-08 13:32

First signs are indeed promising. However under normal conditions there should be many more bikes, tourists and others traffic. So I am looking forward to future videos. FSD also seems to handle busy streets in the USA like in New York, so it will probably do great job

andonaki 2025-04-11 12:26

That would require a virtual gearshift that you have to row in a specific pattern while running through different frequencies on the radio also in a specific pattern and active gesture recognition to know you’re paying attention.
