This is so frustrating!! I live in the UK and was hoping to get a free trial of supervised FSD sometime this year. Europe seems fine with deregulation of the banks and financial industry that destroys the global economy, but seem intent on stifling genuine technological innovation through misguided regulations. Edit: why is this comment being downvoted? Genuinely curious if people would let me know.

The policy isn't tesla-specific rather legislation around advanced driver systems as a whole, which we know is more than tesla. But to get clicks it's framed as an attack on tesla (musk). Happy to be corrected by someone more knowledgeable but that's how it looks to me.

Well, the UK law can be general and still in effect target Tesla under the radar since they're the leader in FSD and most likely to be first to bring it to market.

I wonder how much of the reticence is down to legislators in the UK and Europe experiencing the current state of Tesla's Autopilot (and Enhanced Autopilot) technology? If they want FSD to be approved, then update the existing ropey technology to use the FSD core and if it is as good as they say at safe driving on motorways and restricted access roads, they'll have far more chance getting legislation passed for hands-off capability. Tesla themselves are not happy with the state of Autopilot as it stands - there's actually nothing stopping them switching to attention monitoring over hands-on-wheel detection (a la Ford Bluecruise) but Autopilot isn't reliable enough.

"news" agencies make money through advertising, and that drives them to write content that attracts clicks. That incentivizes poor behavior on their part. So we should all be using ad blockers and avoiding clicking on links with inflammatory headlines. The only way to stop the bad behavior of the news outlets is to hit them where it hurts: their income via advertising.

A headline that tries to manipulate opinion while the content just reflects how FSD is gradually introduced in phases just like everywhere else in the world. Telegraph bullshit.

This headline is nonsense narrative and includes “analysis” that is totally wrong. In general Tesla has turned on features over time and surely they will do the same in the UK. For example with lane Changes at first you have to manually initiate it w turn signal and then later it will do it by itself. That’s a logical progression which this writer doesn’t understand and is misrepresenting

It doesn't matter that the word indeed has a neutral, non emotional definition. In common parlance, the word is more frequently connotated with an emotion, and thus can be intentionally used ambiguously. The authors could have easily chosen another clear word such as obstruct, but they intentionally chose the ambiguous term due to its double connotations.

This was always gonna happen. Europe laid the groundwork for this ages ago ( in efforts/hopes their cars would achieve it before allowing a US company to take the lead... fast forward... crickets). Note. I'm in Europe. Have lived here for over a decade.

The telegraph is extremely left wing and loves anti tesla articles but they are not informative.

I'm in Australia and it's very frustrating seeing regulators lag way behind with respect a fast improving and objectively safer technology. Hopefully as more people adopt EV's and intelligent cars in general it becomes more of an election issue. I'm always jealous of our fellow Tesla drivers in the US.
