How much will FSD cost me?

Arista93 | 2026-03-07 23:11 | 21 views

So I just purchased a preowned model 3 and I just needed help to understand how much would full self driving cost me to get I looked at the features. This one has and it appears the previous owner had had the enhanced auto pilot feature. So what would I have to do to get full self driving?

Go in your app, go to upgrades, software upgrades and it’ll be there.

asswizzard69 2026-03-07 23:15

For me it’s $99 a month but I’m on hw4 could be cheaper for you idk about 2.5 much but if they paid for enhanced you should get it cheaper

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:15

I actually haven’t picked it up yet I’m picking it up Monday. But I asked the guy from the dealership to take a picture of the software because I just wanted to know if it had fsd equipped as I’m a noob to this and this is my first Tesla

turns2stone 2026-03-07 23:16

You can no longer purchase FSD outright, so $49/month.

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:16

Ah ok ok. So I might get it for cheaper. So would I have to take it to a Tesla service center to get it upgraded?

Professional_Day5412 2026-03-07 23:17

What year, model and trim is it? And if you don’t mind me asking but how much are you paying

asswizzard69 2026-03-07 23:17

You can upgrade in the car under upgrades menu

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:18

2018 model 3 long range all wheel drive. $350 a month. Got it for $17,456. I put 7k down on it

farmerMac 2026-03-07 23:19

Should be $50 month

farmerMac 2026-03-07 23:19

Should be 50 with eap

Professional_Day5412 2026-03-07 23:20

How many miles??

SubieSTI360 2026-03-07 23:20

$99 a month

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:20

Does this mean though that I need to get the hardware upgraded to enable that?

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:21

Ah ok sweet. I haven’t picked up the car yet. Will be picking it up Monday.

Tacticoner 2026-03-07 23:22

With EAP it’s only $50/mo

usernameloading98 2026-03-07 23:22

Go to upgrades in the Tesla app. That should be all the direction you need.

kghyr8 2026-03-07 23:24

About 65k in the screenshot

kghyr8 2026-03-07 23:25

There are no hardware upgrades available. It just means you don’t get the most current version of FSD that the newer hardware vehicles have.

phillyodis 2026-03-07 23:26

What's eap,?

Mikey_likes_it- 2026-03-07 23:28

Looks like you have enhanced AP so FSD will be half price. I don't think you can buy it outright anymore. But that means 50 a month for the sub I think?

JacobMaxx 2026-03-07 23:30

Enhanced auto pilot.

Professional_Day5412 2026-03-07 23:31

Oh my bad I’m just blind lol. Personally, I would get your down payment back and go with something completely different. Check out car max, there’s much 2020 M3 LRs for like $20k with less miles and they have hardware 3. But that’s me personally

SubieSTI360 2026-03-07 23:31

Not what he asked is it?

ConclusionOne5240 2026-03-07 23:33

$50 a month, however you will need to pay for HW3 upgrade as it’s not free since the buyout option went away

Kooch702 2026-03-07 23:33

100 dollars per month 🤷🏻‍♂️

farmerMac 2026-03-07 23:34

I’m in the same boat as you. I have eap (came with my 2018 m3 premium) and the 2.5 computer, which will not give you FSD.  You’ll need the 1k computer upgrade before you can sub.

IPThereforeIAm 2026-03-07 23:34

That’s not how down payments work…

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:36

Ah ok. Got you. Are thinking about doing it?

Professional_Day5412 2026-03-07 23:37

He doesn’t have the car and if he hasn’t signed the final paperwork he can 1000% get the down payment back. And most dealerships have a 10 day return window

Arista93 2026-03-07 23:37

Ah ok. So would I need to pay to get the hardware installed for FSD

cookiecrumble3276 2026-03-07 23:39

Dang you could get a 2022 3 performance for about 24k where I live.

Pretty-Panic2398 2026-03-07 23:39

this is the correct answer, no need to read further.

farmerMac 2026-03-07 23:39

I would if they did the mobile install, but the tesla rep via the service app said it must now be done at the service center. Its 2+ hours from here and takes a whole day. Its not worth the time and effort for me.

Tacticoner 2026-03-07 23:41

In this case the car is already configured with EAP, which would reduce the price from $99 to $49 a month. EAP was a $6000 option you could purchase instead of buying all of FSD years ago. While FSD was still for sale, the upgrade price was $2000 for vehicles with EAP already added

DragenTBear 2026-03-07 23:45

Ignore social media answers, and just look in the app yourself. Upgrades->Subscribe->Full Self Driving. My guess is that 1st you’d have to pay for new FSD computer (2.5 can’t do FSD). That’ll probably $1000 (used to be free if you ‘buy’ FSD, but that option ended last month). Then, it would likely say $49 (USD) per month (as you already have EAP, so you’d likely get the lower price subscription). Again, on,y your app (Tesla) can tell you how much you’d really have to pay.

Consistent_Throat497 2026-03-07 23:46

I believe it’s a $49usd monthly subscription. You can’t purchase FSD outright anymore. With that said EAP is more than enough and includes navigating on AP and auto lane changes. I think you also get auto park and creep. You just don’t get summon if I’m understanding. Basically any road that has lines/medians it acts the same as FSD!

SubieSTI360 2026-03-07 23:47

Ahhh ok. New owner and mine is 2024.. I didn't know that👍

Karanv666 2026-03-07 23:48

He has HW2.5. Don’t think he can get FSD unless the computer gets updated.

Economy_Theme5385 2026-03-08 00:08

You’d need to pay $1,000 for Tesla to upgrade to HW3 then and only then you would be eligible to subscribe to FSD on monthly basis

Going2beBANNEDanyway 2026-03-08 00:12

You will have to pay 1000 for a new computer. The 2.5 autopilot computer doesn’t handle FSD. So 1000 for a new computer and then 50 a month.

Arista93 2026-03-08 00:52

Ah i might go ask. The service center is 15 min from me

BuddyBing 2026-03-08 00:55

You astronomically overpaid for this...

Arista93 2026-03-08 00:56

Think I could have got a better deal??

KadesShades 2026-03-08 02:02

For me, after I did the computer upgrade I had to upgrade my interior camera as well because it started giving me errors about dropped frames. I did it myself for about $100.

solarsystemoccupant 2026-03-08 02:33

US$49/mo + tax as it has EAP

farmerMac 2026-03-08 02:44

some people have reported getting the upgrade for free in the past, but ymmv. i couldnt get them to do it for free.

goodvibezone 2026-03-08 02:54

I mean even telsa are giving me $19K for my 2020 with 48K...

DragenTBear 2026-03-08 03:28

Hw2.5 didn’t / doesn’t have an interior camera. They add it when they upgrade to hw3.

Arista93 2026-03-09 20:32

i mean i guess it couldn't hurt to ask
