Scheduling delivery question

Josednk1068 | 2026-03-07 14:39 | 20 views

Just purchased my first Tesla , pre-owned direct from Tesla. It looked like the car was only about an hour away from me but just curious why it has been a week+ and I haven’t received any news about picking it up? Is that common and if so, why so long to transfer a car that is essentially in my back yard. Thanks in advance for any input.

Too late now, but would they not let you just go get it? The guy I was working with said I could, there were just none close... That being said, I'm not sure. My car came from across the country. No updates on delivery for 4 days and then boom. The car was here ready for pickup on day 5... So, something is funky. Have you tried calling the destination place?

I’m not sure if that was an option. I’ve used the chat but the communication from their team has been lacking. Still waiting for updates almost feels like I didn’t actually purchase a car.

I got lucky I guess. I got a guy on the phone who worked with me through the whole process. He was trying to find me one I could go pick up. Pickup was great too. Walked me through the controls. Car was all detailed. Loved the whole experience.

I did the same thing, purchased 3 days ago, no updates yet either. Just says "delivery scheduling will open once we confirm your vehicle's arrival date". I was starting to think maybe its waiting for me to add insurance before moving forward? I wanted to get at least a date of pickup before i got insurance.

Purchased February 27th and still no word. Hope you’re having better luck than me.

Nothing yet, but if anything changes I'll update the post. I did see that on some cars the wait time for transfer was 2-3 weeks vs 1 week estimate I have on mine, so theoretically by the 17th it should give me a date, but we'll see. I read elsewhere that right now Tesla is swamped with FSD transfers for new/existing owners (since if a car isn't delivered by 31st it won't get full paid FSD), and that seems to be more the priority than used cars.

My insurance advised me to add it while it was still in the state yours is in. I'm not sure if it was necessary. But I wasn't taking any chances.

The one thing is just that it asks for a date to start insurance, and im not sure when to add that since it could still be weeks away before car arrives. I will see if anything changes by monday and if not will add the insurance, thanks.

I added it the day I paid for the car... it's technically yours now is what State Farm told me. Not sure if they are full of shit.. but if it falls off the truck while they are shipping it.. I don't want any part of that fix..

I spoke with a rep on phone but he was very vague. I already have the vin for the specific car and he said it’s at the site of pickup but needs to be inspected. I dunno all just seems very loose to me. By the way it has been at site of pickup for over a week.

Yes, I didn't care for that part of the process either. I would have been happier with a little more info along the way. Mine was coming cross country. So they could have said "in transit" at least.. You just get nothing for a long time. When you finally get an update. Your car is here.. whenever that is :(
