How much?
I paid $16000 out of the door
Hardware 2.5 or 3? It says FSD so I assume 3.
Nice. I just got a model 3 but part of me kinda wishes I got an s. Looks better and comfortable ride.
Not sure how to check lol
I tried both and went for the model S with the money I had, I always wanted a big sedan, the model 3 feels more nimble though
Just got me a 2018 model S with 50,000 miles. I’m happy. Congrats on the car!
That’s really low ! Congrats to you too
Man. Total came out to 21,300
Good deal tbh
Where? I like that price.
Clearwater Fl
Enjoy, amazing value you get so much car for the money. Your spec list is so much longer than my LR+ lol, I guess they got tired of listing everything.
Exactly what I thought, it’s so much car for $16000 !
Private sale? Local Tesla shop?
120k miles ? Wow why not model 3 ?
Please don’t butcher me but when someone buys a vehicle this old has the original battery been replaced? Or do they buy at the low price with the understanding they’ll have to replace it?
Not bad at all!
Because it’s a model 3
Beautiful ride! I’ve been in the market for one for a week now. Did you buy private?
I bought at a dealership
Dealership
I ran a health check and everything was fine, to be honest batteries don’t fail as much as people think they do
Isn’t 120k too risky for 16k purchase ?
Man that’s awesome congratulations! I pick up my first ever EV on the 16th and I’m already worried about the battery just because I hear about horror stories lol
Lower mileage I saw around 20~22k
I'm just about to hit 100k on my '18 Mid M3 and will be looking for something like this towards the end of '26. Ideally the 3 goes to my daughter for her first car and S my daily commute. I also have a reservation for a Rivian R2 so I'm interested to see how those play out over the next few months.
Do you have lifetime Supercharging and data?
Now that kids are 13/11 they'd like a little more room in the backseat. I want more range (M3 at ~212) for winter driving.
Please. These things last forever as long as it’s been taken care of. You won’t need to replace the battery until 500k.
Oh is that right? Lol
No I have to pay for supercharging
"Ultra High Fidelity Sound" Does it sound great?
Sounds just like high definition 😂
I like how one of the specs listed is “No Spoiler” lol
Like I can’t tell lol
Why buy such an old car if it doesn’t have the free supercharging? Seems like a bad move.
Love it! It is great seeing EV enthusiasts show - just - how amazing these vehicles are. Mileage is the goal; and mileage should be something we brag about…unlike or ICE counterparts
You understand that not everyone needs FUSC?
Mine has the “No Spoiler” and “No Third Row Seating” as well. They should put everything else it doesn’t have lmao
You bought a 10 year old car for $16k? Couldn't you save up a bit more for a brand new one?
You understand that for 16K you can get a much newer Tesla right?
I've got a 2017 S 90D. I've done hundreds of thousands of free supercharging kilometres. Car is touch wood still going strong. How you finding FSD (assuming you're in USA) did you get HW3/new cameras or already done? Are you running MCU1 or MCU2?
> they’ll have to replace it Batteries don't suddenly die. Just like engines don't.
Man Im considering a super high mileage 17s because the price is crazy low. Please tell me yours sucks so that I'll change my mind XD
I’ve driven some high mileage teslas and for some reason they drive better than some newer ones. Idk why maybe they were refurbished or something.
I’m in a 2023 model 3 with 90k miles and it still has 252 miles of range.
I got a new 23 m3p exactly 3 years ago and I keep telling myself… I wish I bought an older model S. Congrats , I wish I was you lol
I think you’re right but also anyone buying one should be prepared for a potential battery replacement cost.
Congrats
Not if it’s out of warranty they don’t
I have a 2022 model 3 with 170,000km on the clock and my last health check about 6 months ago showed 6% degradation. My money is on it out-living the car.
I had a 2014 S. Now I have a 2020 S. I feel like they cheapened a lot of parts with the refresh. My 2014 was so nice. A lot of little stuff seems to break on the 2020. Your 2017 will suit you well.
new = / = better I'm guessing you're referring to a Model 3 or Y which is not the same class vehicle
I bought a 2017 MS and replaced the original battery. But I received an error message about it
I personally think that buying new is a scam
It’s great lol
A higher power decided for me because someone already snatched it up yesterday!!
Looks great, enjoy!
A bit more? You mean like triple the amount lol
Fsd…. Nice.
Crazy, my 2023 m3 has like 15k miles
Well it was a rental
How so? The battery is a liability from about 60k onward. From there on its all about the same.
Fwiw, my '18 p100d failed completely at 80k miles. No warning. Start up a battery fund, lol.
Tell that to my '18 battery that failed last year at 80k miles with no warning. Degradation is not the concern. It's the no warning total failure.
Oh they absolutely 100% do just randomly die, lol. I can attest to that first hand. '18 P100D with 80k miles. Car went from totally fine to "cannot drive. Hv fault. Service battery immediately."
I have that system in my '18. I think it's very good.
That's perhaps the most 'not a car person' answer you can give, lol. Not everything is about getting the newest thing.
A new model s is 60k right? Model 3 and Y are not nearly the same vehicle. Just because they have the same badge doesn't mean they're the same thing.
These aren’t classic cars dude. It’s a Tesla. It’s not like he went out and bought a 67 mustang, or a stingray or anything like that…. He bought an old, outdated, slower to charge Tesla. There’s nothing “special” about a 2017 Tesla model S, except that the build quality is trash and most of em’ came with free supercharging. Not his though. Tesla’s aren’t cars. Their technology on wheels. “Not a car person” K.
The 17 model s doesn't have garage build quality, lol. Given their rough budget, what do you feel so strongly that they should have purchased instead?
A 2023 model 3 would have been a better choice. Possibly still keeping warranty, having a faster charging battery, and newer technology in it. Again:: you’re making it sound like they bought some classic car.
Wtf, a '23 model 3 is DOUBLE their budget unless you get a real beat up one with damage or something. You're failing to understand how vastly different the model 3 and s are. They are not the same car. The model S is a fat mover vehicle. Have you been in one? Lol. Fast charging is nearly meaningless if you charge at home. With hw3 you can still have modern fsd. This is such a crazy argument, lol.
Yes .. hence I was skeptical to see a 120k .. I guess I am still in ICE mindset
Even with ice. 120k on a Toyota or Honda is low mileage, lol. Maybe you're just used to unreliable cars?
May be.. I have never owned a car above 100k my highest is 85k so a unfamiliar domain ..
Okay, you're 100% right, they definitely do. But it's not an expected thing like a lot of people make it sound. It's like a single digit percentage probability.
I'd love to know the stats. I think it's something like 50% for the 100 kwh packs on the model s and x.
Nice! I bought a 2017 last summer & it has been great so far.
Good looking car. Just saw a '17 with 130k miles for sale from a private seller for $12,900. Giving it some serious thought.
