Squeaky Brake when wet
When there is precipitation my brakes squeak. I heard of the go fast then slam on breaks to clear the squeak but I am concerned about safety. Is there any other option?

Lmao that’s just rust from the moisture, yea it’s normal and as long as you use the breaks it will break that rust up
Go to the service mode by holding your finger on the model of your car on the software screen for a couple seconds until a password dialog comes up, at which point you type “service”. I don’t recall which it is, but if you go through the different menu’s on the left you’ll see the option to burnish brake. It’s going to have you accelerate to 40mph then apply the brakes about 15 times. It will ding when you’re at 40mph and show a little graphic indicating you’re applying the right amount of break pressure. Super easy to do assuming you can find a nice 1/2 mile stretch of quiet road to go up and down.
You don't have to go too fast. Merging off the interstate should be good. Mine don't squeak unless there is a rock in them though

It's called Brake Burnishing. I did it last month but it didn't help. It seems like there's actually an issue with the rotors, there is a service bulletin for it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelY/comments/1rixdlv/theres\_finally\_a\_service\_bulleting\_for\_those\_of](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelY/comments/1rixdlv/theres_finally_a_service_bulleting_for_those_of)
I did it a few weeks ago and it worked. Seems like a pretty simple, low-risk solution for them to try before going in for service.
Is it a Berlin-made juniper model Y? If yes there’s a service order from yesterday to replace brake rotors
Been waiting for this too. Can’t wait for this to be fixed. It’s so annoying
