So let me be clear. Tesla canceled the s and x to instead make a shitty truck most people don't care about?

Beyond pissed why they canceled their flagship cars. Wanted to buy an S in s couple years

If sales numbers are to be believed, the CT wont be around much longer either.

To make a truck that Elon cares about

No one wants the Model S or Model X. There’s no real demand, so there’s no point in continuing to produce them. The focus is on their robot project, not the Cybertruck.

CookieMons7er 2026-02-28 02:50

To make robots actually

Competitive_Guava_33 2026-02-28 02:51

No, they cancelled them to make robots at that factory

The_Epics_of_India 2026-02-28 02:51

Not that no one wants. They didn't know how to sell them.

WindyNightmare 2026-02-28 02:53

I don’t think one has to do with the other. CT will be cancelled too. The sedan market continues to shrink, especially the $100k sedan market. It’s been doomed for awhile.

beansruns 2026-02-28 02:55

… robots nobody really cares about and/or can’t afford They’ll make more money with the S and X than they will with commercial robot sales

S&X accounted for less than 1% of Teslas sold in 2025. S&X combined sold less than 10,000 units. That’s compared to the 1.5 million 3/Y sold in 2025. CT is probably on its way out as well. Less than 25,000 units sold in 2025.

billm0066 2026-02-28 02:55

Im getting rid of my plaid x for a cybertruck. You mad bro?

Suspicious-Gur-8453 2026-02-28 02:56

They're overpriced for what they are. I personally love the Model S and X and have had many of both over the years. But they priced themselves out of the market. I have a Model X now but would not be getting another (even if they existed) at their current price.

kzgrey 2026-02-28 02:58

I see X's all over my town.

Fragrant-Ice-5921 2026-02-28 03:01

Your point is??? Only 2,871 new Model Xs sold in 2025.

Huge_Bar_3590 2026-02-28 03:02

But S and X are too expensive compared to Y and 3. Robots also have a good future; ordinary people may not need to buy them, but in factories they can replace the workforce effectively.

ptronus31 2026-02-28 03:03

The way I look at it is that by cancelling the S & X Tesla has chosen to exit the premium EV market and that is a big statement. So, for Tesla fans there is really no upward mobility (other than the Cybertruck, which for many is a downward mobility). Pretty much all of those customers that have been loyal at the S & X level will NOT be getting Model 3s and Ys. They will be looking at other makes. I am.

lakerskb248 2026-02-28 04:48

Yep this alot of people's last ride with Tesla

RealisticReading4766 2026-02-28 04:51

I would like a robot that can do housework for me.

Desperate-Review-727 2026-02-28 04:53

They sell more CT's than s and x combined. But yeah I am sad they are getting rid of their flagship models.

Turbulent-Abroad7841 2026-02-28 07:22

No? I mean they are both great cars but the x and s are a joy to drive compared to a huge pickup with terrible blind spots

Did they once say they plan to make Optimus really affordable and sell the them at ~$20,000? Thought they said something like making all households have one Optimus.
