Whats' the distance between each letter for the rear T E S L A badge?

joq3 | 2026-02-26 09:02 | 38 views

I bought the replacement black OEM rear badge for my Highland. The problem is that I removed the old letters before opening the package with the new badge. And I notice that the distance between each letter is not correct, they probably lost their place in shipping. I am following the [official Tesla documentation](https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/2024/en-us/GUID-EFEDB06D-7CA7-4BE9-9135-6000005C91C0.html) to do this, but without the correct spacing it won't help. **If anyone of you guys could help me to measure the distance between each letter (shown in red), and the total length (shown in blue) it would be amazing!** I would really appreciate it!

Calipers can help.

Yes, if I had something to measure of? The old badge is already removed, that's why I need help from someone owning a Highland.

Walk around on the streets and if you run into one measure someone else’s? /s

Wouldn't want anyone to do that on my car, so I won't do it on anyone else's. I really hope someone here can help with measuring theirs.

With a caliper or any metal thing, yeah I would understand. Get a piece of paper and a pencil. Put the paper against the logo and quickly scrub the pencil against the logo to get the outlines. Quick and easy, no risk of damage.

May not be applicable, but I noticed a sort of optic phenomenon when I added these to my 23MYP. if you put them a bit wider spacing than original, it makes the car look a bit wider. Try it out!

This, but go to the local supercharger and ask around beforehand, I wouldn’t mind if someone came to me and explained things gently Or the closest dealership

It’s not consistent on my car. I measured 93.5mm between the rightmost part of the T and the E. ~95.5mm between the other letters This could be due to my calipers or maybe for visual balance.

Hanging around a supercharger and asking nicely might actually work. People at superchargers often have time to spare and, in general, people are kind.

If you’re buying the OEM letters from a manufacturer, they come pre-spaced. They should never “lose their place in shipping”. You remove the backing, place on the car, then remove the front protective film.

I actually measured mine to the same as yours. It seems I have the correct spacing between letters. However the placement is not correct. You can see the T being much higher up than the A. I guess they are not meant to be in a straight line, but they should match? https://preview.redd.it/otnhxf93jvlg1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b201d0c34b2a7ee8589d8d8bc2d441033570a9f0

And that’s what I did, they are OEM and they are not correctly placed, they don’t even stick well to the front protective film. https://preview.redd.it/smjyrnlnjvlg1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=252e7c9d7333618f23d695ce935e35dfb38b024f

Return to seller.

Do you have any straight edge where you can measure how much higher each letter sits from each other? Thanks for the great help!

oliphant_branch 2026-02-26 20:07

I assume they don't look vertically aligned in this context because where they go onto the vehicle isn't flat/straight. If I remember correctly, there is a curve on the Model 3 where these go. I imagine they'll look aligned once on the vehicle.

What measurement would you want? I have calipers and some free time over the next week. Can't guarantee everything will be perfect but whatever. I own a highland.

They are OEM or you were told they are OEM?

joq3 2026-02-27 04:55

They are OEM, have no time to return it. Delivery took weeks.
