2021 M3P vs 2017 Model S 100D

I currently have a 2021 Model 3 Performance and have been eyeing some older Model S. I love my Model 3 Performance, but would love to have the second screen on the dash and the air suspension. The 2017 Model S 100D i'm looking at has more mileage, but has had the HV battery replaced recently. I wanted to get other experienced Tesla users input. Would I be an idiot for changing to an older Tesla Model S?

Probably more worth to get a 2019 with adaptive air suspension. That being said I wouldn’t do it unless you are ready for high maintenance cost

You know there are after market second dashboard screens you can install for your model 3 right? Feels like that makes so much more financial sense than trading in for an older car with older tech

I have looked at a couple of the second dashboard options, but they all seem rather cheap and look out of place. My M3P currently has HW3 and the MS i'm looking at also has HW3. I'm open to any suggestions you have for nice Model 3 dash screen that look like they are OEM.

I will definitely look at some newer ones. Is the adaptive air suspension that much better than the previous air suspension?

I’ve only ever had one with the adaptive air suspension, but from what I’ve heard it’s quite better, I think looking at anything pre mid 2019 “raven” update would not be worth it

Please make sure you test drive the model S first. I once had a model S as a courtesy car when my model 3 was being replaced and I hated the way it drove. I was SO happy to get my model 3 back. Yes the model S looks like a lovely car and on paper the specs are amazing but you need to test drive it to make sure you like the way it drives.

Thanks for the advice/input! I definitely will test drive one before making the decision

Okay I’ll look more into the adaptive air suspension. Thank you

Yes. The MS is a highway cruiser and feels more like a boat/executive luxury car. The M3 feels more like a zippy go-cart that’s much better at zigzagging around town, and doesn’t feel in any way luxurious.
