FSD isn’t ready until it can drive in this blizzard

ShastaManasta | 2026-02-23 15:21 | 23 views

I live in CT where we are currently under around 18 inches of snow and it’s actively snowing with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. My stance on FSD is it’s not ready until it can drive me to the starbucks drive thru in these current conditions. $99 a month is then only justified. Why replace the human driver if it can’t do better than a human? That’s at least how I feel.

18 inches of snow? Should you even be driving in those conditions?

Unfair_Trip_7985 2026-02-23 15:24

Seems like no one should be on the roads in those conditions

JimGerm 2026-02-23 15:24

I know several actual “qualified drivers” that I wouldn’t trust to drive in those conditions. What you’re looking for is decades out I suspect.

DecentPlastic 2026-02-23 15:24

I couldn’t agree more. Until FSD can navigate me through the eye of a category 5 hurricane, it is completely useless

ForeverMinute7479 2026-02-23 15:26

Fine have your standard, but you may as well not “waste” your $99/mo then if that’s what it takes to justify spending it.

grubnenah 2026-02-23 15:26

Dude FSD can't reliably handle highways near me on clear days (frequently goes from 65+ down to 40mph for no discernable reason). It's not even a little close to being able to handle missing lines on the road or snow covered stop signs / etc.

YouKidsGetOffMyYard 2026-02-23 15:27

I hope you are joking..

Retire_date_may_22 2026-02-23 15:28

I’d disagree with your stance but everyone has an opinion.

vita10gy 2026-02-23 15:28

Tbf it can probably already do that.

D1TAC 2026-02-23 15:29

Anytime it snows heavy, or the visibility is low I don't trust it. I know it can handle it, likely but I prefer to be in control. But it's getting better.

ForsakenHat140 2026-02-23 15:29

I agree until fsd can navigate me through an active volcano, it's like entirely worthless.

pretzelgreg317 2026-02-23 15:29

You were literally ordered to stay off the roads but are gonna be one of those entitled asshats that gets stuck in the middle of a thoroughfare and blocks plows and emergency vehicles. That's how I feel.

scohen158 2026-02-23 15:31

You do realize that probably 95% of human drivers if not more are unable to drive safely in 18 inches of snow until roads get plowed. Most drivers suck so much they bare get by during optimal conditions. Heck a lot of vehicles will just get stuck given that is well above the ride clearance of most vehicles on the road. It is ok to say $99 is more than your budget can handle without going to the extreme of making a silly post like this.

Spite_Inside 2026-02-23 15:31

Why are you going to Starbucks in these conditions?

ScottRoberts79 2026-02-23 15:33

Hear me out. Nobody should be driving to Starbucks in a blizzard. Get an emergency coffee maker and keep some beans in the freezer.

LilHindenburg 2026-02-23 15:35

It’s better than 95% of other drivers in this blizzard… that’s ready by my stance. Don’t like it, keep your $$.

Lalo_Salamanca666 2026-02-23 15:35

Why are you gong to Starbucks period

CTrandomdude 2026-02-23 15:35

It could be that your FSD is actually operating at the highest level by refusing to drive in certain weather conditions.

peanutbuttersmack 2026-02-23 15:44

Professional pilots are grounded due to safety. I wouldn’t risk it.

No-Abbreviations4075 2026-02-23 16:07

Get your car serviced. This is not normal.

grubnenah 2026-02-23 16:15

I've done that, doesn't change.

ShastaManasta 2026-02-23 16:25

Yea that’s what I’m saying

ShastaManasta 2026-02-23 16:25

Right there with you brother

No-Abbreviations4075 2026-02-23 16:31

That is def weird. I have had the shadow issue on the last version, but I just had it drive me across several states without issue.

ShastaManasta 2026-02-23 16:45

I am

ShastaManasta 2026-02-23 16:45

Post is a joke but starbucks is good. $5.50 gigantic good cold brew beat anything I can get at dunkin

ShastaManasta 2026-02-23 16:46

Yea I was just joking actually. I think expectations for fsd are ridiculous sometimes.

Lalo_Salamanca666 2026-02-23 21:16

Copy I just like to support the independent local community

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-24 18:00
