Model S to Y Transition to upgrade FSD?

Maybe I'm looking for advice or maybe I'm just looking for somewhere to document my thoughts... I have a 2017 Model S with FSD 3.0 hardware, 140k miles. I love this car but I know there will always be limitations on the full self driving. Ideally I could get four more years out of this vehicle before transferring my FSD to a new purchase. With the latest push to the subscription-based model, I have a feeling this is actually the last opportunity to transfer to a vehicle with better hardware. Sadly I'm priced out of the Model S, so would need to transition to the model Y if buying new. Has anyone with older FSD tech recently made the jump to a new vehicle? Is the thought this will be the last opportunity? Any hesitation I should have going from a model S to Y? So many questions, not enough time!

I’ll let you know on Friday - trading in my 2020 S LRP for a Y AWD Premium (transferring FSD)

came from a 2018 ms to a new Y The S is a much nicer car. They is cheap and has started to sqeak already, the sound isn't as good, and the ride is a lot rougher. Just drive your S till you are done with it, then see what's out there. In 5 years, self-driving from many companies will be a lot better!!! Don't let elons fake FUD scare you into the new car (this is exactly what they are hoping for). I have fsd 14 and came from an older verison. The new version is good on city streets, but I'd argue it's worse on the freeway. its either speeding like crazy in the left land or cconstnatly riding the right lane and driving in the pot holes. You can always buy a used 2025/6 Y in a year or two with FSD included for less than youd pay for it now. if you S is working well, just enjoy it and don't worry about the new fsd, its not worth it (i drive a lot too)

I bet won't actually be last opportunity and who knows Tesla might even upgrade you to HW4 in the future. ;)
