Purchased EAP to FSD upgrade, ServiceCenter asking for an extra $1000

I have a 2018 Tesla Model 3 RWD Mid Range HW 2.5 with EAP. Last week, I purchased FSD for $2000. I am trying to schedule an appointment with the service center, but they are trying to charge me an extra $ 1,000. This guy keeps saying $2000 includes a free camera replacement, but I still need to pay $1000 for the HW3 upgrade. Anyone else on the same boat or had to deal with this in the past? Please give me some ammo to fight back.

I don’t know why these Service Centers don’t understand how this works. Seems to be a common trend among many people who purchase FSD for the free HW upgrade. Me and others have had to message them and let them know the HW upgrade is complimentary because you purchased FSD outright. It is Tesla’s policy to provide a free upgrade if you purchase FSD outright. Usually when you tell them this, they change the estimate to free. If they push back, shove the policy in their face https://www.tesla.com/support/full-self-driving-computer This policy mentions free camera replacement and HW upgrade. I would also ask for the supervisor to review this if they still don’t give you the $0 estimate. I’m interested to see any updates on your service request.

Thank you. I was on with customer support and they reflected the same. They escalated the case and that seemed to fix it. Now estimate seems to be adjusted to $0. I don’t know how they don’t know this offhand. Even the manager at the service center didn’t seem to support it. QQ, will cameras need to be upgraded as well? For Tesla M3 2018 RWD Midrange? Did your car fit in my profile??

I don’t believe I had to change cameras when my 2018 model three went from hw 2.5 to hw 3

My estimate showed $0 for the retrofit. I have a 2018 MS 75D. Earliest to my can squeeze me in is March 4th. I do have a couple of other concerns too so that may be why.

I honestly don’t know if the cameras had to be changed. All I know is I have a 2018 model 3 LR and the upgrade was free.

The app estimate for the service is algorithm based and very often significantly off. It is required to proceed to schedule an appointment. Confirm it, show up for the appointment, talk to the rep and they will say if you will be charged in fact and how much. Been to service twice, both times confirmed the Potential Charge in the app. Both times didn't pay. Moreover, the legit paid service of replacing cabin filter and cleaning the vents was also done for free as a goodwill.

Just did this upgrade on my 2018 MX a few months back and it was just the $2,000 charge. I dropped it off in the morning and it was done right at closing so I picked it up and dropped off my loaner after hours.

Did you contact them through chat? You can try to schedule the appointment then go to the SC in-person ASAP and have them check the estimate. The $1000 fee is if you’re subscribed to FSD. If you purchased it outright, it should be free. Show them this page https://www.tesla.com/support/full-self-driving-computer  if they push back. Go to the SC sooner rather than later before they update or take down the page.

I haven't heard of cameras ever being changed on a 2.5 to 3 upgrade. They're the same.

Thank you

They app estimated $2300 for the hw3 retrofit but I uploaded a copy of my receipt and they changed it to $0
